Most players never played the game long enough to really appreciate it. I was one of them. I decided to give it another try and like what I see.

This game had a certain atmosphere for sure, lot of vertical movement, unique character design. I completely forgotten this gem. Yesterday I had like a flashback that there were this awesome game with jet packs and occult creatures, I had to check it out once again, and I have to say it still looks cool and thrilling.
I loved this game. It always reminded me of the Buck Rogers comic books. Its still one of my favourites today. It was very different and original compared to anything else at the time. Its still really original compared to games coming out now. Nice visuals and sound. And the gameplay mechanics were fantastic fun. Love it.
God only knows why it didn't get much attention.
Dull characters, lore is left unexplored and even more is left unexplained.
It seemed more focused on setting up the next game rather than finish or flesh out what it started here.
For new IPs that is a red flag.

The game was a blast to play though and the art design was really cool looking. The story was straightforward enough too. I just saw a new game which reminded me of this game called Elex 2. And that game didn't look half as good as Dark Void. The flight mechanics look terrible in Elex 2 compared to Dark Void, and nowhere near as fun.
I think the flight controls were pretty solid and the leveling up of your equipment through the campaign was a nice element too. Story(telling) was relatively run of the mill, so would put it in neutral.
Unfortunately the actual on the ground shooting mechanics, repetitive environments and ennemies really brought the game down to 'okay' to me even though the concept had a lot of potential :/

It was the Buck Rogers game that i always wanted but that we never got. I also loved the gameplay mechanics because it just felt very different from anything else id ever played. I had that same feeling with the game 'Vanquish.'

so underrated yet SO COOL AND REFRESHING
The gameplay was nothing short of amazing, yes, but the plot was spotty, the characters were kinda bland, and the ending was terrible.
When playing it: 8/10
Looking back years later: 4/10

"Got questions? Too bad, wait for the sequel that may never come."
For new IPs to bank on sequel to finish what they start is a red flag.

I remember when i 100% this little gem of a game back in 2011.
This was definitely one of those games that were unique but underfunded and underdeveloped with too little development time but if it has gotten a sequel the developers could have really built the second game into something spectacular. Irregardless, I still enjoyed the game.

This game reminds of The Rocketeer, Terminator and Indiana Jones. You know, the 1930s versus The robot kind a thing.
For me it reminds me of star wars. Jhango, boba fett and mando
The rocketeer was my only reason for buying this game. This is the closest we'll ever get to a rocketeer game.

I would be less surprised if his friend that fell off the plane survived. Image both meeting later, I survived I felt down into the sea but was later rescued. Ohh really? I crash on another dimension and was shot 1000+ times by Advanced alien weaponry but my "leather jacket" protected me form damage.! and I survived!!!

Very unique enemy design. Reminds me of a Protoss form Starcraft or Aliens from Crysis or Scrin from C&C3.

I played this game in my teens and ran into some glitch most of the way through that wouldn't allow me to progress. Looked it up and it was just the way it was, never got fixed. I just installed it on PC and am so excited to play it again

First time I played i got to the part where you get the jetpack but it didn't work it just kept flying in loops.
Second time I got further but a bug prevented me from continuing the game so I stopped
Third time the game wouldn't even fucking load.

Decent game but the flying mechanics were horrible.
Whenever a shooting game is played with a console controller, 10 times more ammunition is needed compared to a mouse.
Can the player actually die in combat in this game? There seems to be no health gauge or anything. It does look like damage is taken if hit by gun projectiles, but that's it, it's like it's only a sound effect with no consequence.
It's pretty funny nobody's trying to put out the fires, at least, even if they can't do major repairs during the trip. If a cruiser or a carrier got hit and fires started back on Earth, the crew would do their everything to get the situation under control. No such wisdom in that other place.
I do think it is possible. I just think a screen filter and a heartbeat sound effect is used to indicate how close you are to dying rather than using a meter.

Is this an old version of Uncharted? The characters do seem to match a bit.
The protagonist is voiced by Nolan North, just as Nathan in Uncharted.

There is actually a game called Dark Void Zero, I have it on Steam, problem is you get a limited number of installs before license is void, no pun intended. As long as you uninstall the game and click void license each time, it should be ok. Anyways, that game is a 2D shooter, check it out here on YT.
