Im excited to get mine this week. Got it over the 2600+ because I cant see myself spending money on Carts. Neat that it can play other stuff.

I have owned the GSP since day one of its release. Based on your video, there are some needed clarifications:
1. The PS5 controller does indeed work. I'm currently using my PS5 controller with no issues.
2. As far as emulation goes, the following systems are NOT supported to my knowledge: Sega Master System, Super NES, Turbo Graphics *Please let me know if you are successfully running SNES or TG games and with what file extension.
3. Systems that are supported: 2600, 5200, 7800, NES, GB, GBC, GBA, Sega Genesis, MAME Arcade with bezel artwork. And yes, it's picky about the MAME ROM sets...🙂
As far as the filing system goes, (yes, it needs a better way of sorting) I simply look at the file extension to determine system. And yes, the included controllers suck for the most part. Overall, for $79.99 at my local Costco, I am 100% happy for the reason I can pretty much run ALL 2600, 5200, 7800, official releases plus homebrews, hacks, other regions, etc. This is something that the 2600+ cannot do for $129.99 and only one controller. And the 2600+ is utilizing emulation (hit or miss) to boot. Which is the better value, just do the math... GSP hands down!!! And the retro crowd goes wild ladies and gentlemen!!!
I think a ps classic is the better retro option due to teh following
Better controller support
Way better ui for roms
Supports newer systems
I think with more exploration and hacking this system will be the new defacto retro emulator. But not yet.
It doesn't check off teh nastalgia box for me at all
And it doesn't do retro emu as well as other systems
There's been a firmware update, ROM files are now listed alphabetically and subfolders are now supported... two helpful changes to sorting the ROM files.
Also, Sega Master System, TG16, and SNES roms are now playable after the firmware update
@@kempenstein While SNES ROMs load no problem, remember the SNES is a 6-button system, and the GSP only supports 3-buttons, so SNES support is iffy at best... oh the ROMs load fine, but your choice of games for the SNES are limited by those that only use 3 or fewer buttons.

I’m getting this for Christmas and I’m excited for it and to play around with adding games. Hopefully they will put out an update to make more controllers work.

I just got mine this past week. The latest firmware v1.30 fixes the root directory issue and lets you organize separate rom directories. Credit to My Arcade, they seem to be actively listening and working on improvements. Joysticks seem to be made well, but clunky to use. Overall, has potential IMHO. Thanks for the video.

Yes, with last firmware 1.30 now we can organize our SD tree in sub-folders named by emulated systems or as we like, it's coold. But, try the community Firmware 1.30c. With this last release, we can use the Graphical Menu to choose and to play our self-added ROMs. Our added roms are showed by system menu.
Many of the CON's have been fixed in the recent Firmware Update :)

3 months later (March 2024)… and new thoughts with the firmware updates, community development and reveal of the new joystick and D-pad being released for this system later in 2024?
For me it's still not a great emulator box. There are better options that are more friendly
If you have it already for what it is, then great. But I wouldn't seek it out for emulation specifically
I agree the lag on the included controllers is bad however with firmware update 1.3 you now have the ability to organize your ROMS into folders. I have several emulation machines, raspberry pi, Retro Freak to name a few but I intend to keep my Atari Game Station Pro as well. You should update this video now that a firmware update has been released. Cheers!

I had NO delay with 1.2 or 1.3. The problem some have may be due to the settings on their TV.
I got one and love it, they rolled out a update already that addressed a lot that you talked about it! Got mine at Costco for $79! I downloaded 22 great games like: Pitfall, Donkey Kong, Defender and more! My SD card just shows one file for each game, I mean how many games does one want!?

I bought this for the looks, 2nd for the games. All if NONE of any retro mini's try to make it look like to original form, cute but boring. This has nice LED lights and its small. Born in the 70's I'm hands down on any ATARI. I own all if 99% of the minis on the market even the pre-development X68000 mini they all have same theme . Best bang for your buck, RPI 5 + 3d printed case , it plays everything

But you can load all those games on to sd card
Got a PDP Rematch XBOX wired controller. No lag and works perfect! $33 on Amazon. This controller completely changed my overall opinion of the GS Pro to positive. I would rather they provide one good analog controller rather than the two laggy crap controllers. Now I just need to find a good paddle wheel and maybe a ball controller.
Supposedly the recent update fixes a lot of the controller lag

I have heard that as well. It looks a lot better, still not awesome. But at least there are folders now

I paid $40 brand new. Decided to get it when I saw it for $40 after being on the fence for a long time.
The Atari Joystick feel, built in Paddles and retro Atari look of this thing was enough for me to spend $40 to get it.
It's an emulation machine but so is the Atari 2600+ and the upcoming Atari 400 mini. Those 2 play original cartridges but I got rid of my Atari cartridges a long time ago and they're still emulation machines not FPGA hardware. At $40 it was an impulse buy just for the nostalgia.

I'm getting one, when the price drops. The Rockchip in this is a lowly rk3032, so compared to a @games Core Plus with the xbox clone controller running coinopsx is a much more powerful emulation rk3328 is still superior.
True. It's tough to consider this for emulation when there are better options out there for less money
If these games I mentioned are on my console radar, I'm seriously considering ordering them.

A successful retro game device is successful as long as the makers imrove it. Your statement its not worth it is just your opinion. Myarcade has just done 2 firmware updates to address customers feedbacks and issues regards to the emulation side. 1.3 address subfolders, the correct aspect ratios to playing upright games; centipede, commando, shooters. what other mini consoles had these functions added in a short peroid of time, Nintendo won't do it. Last I tested is SegaCD games works as long its in .bin format, Its best if .chd format (Smaller in size) I've requested this feature in next firmware update and ability to remap buttons so that all original controllers work.
