Oh, thank you so much!!!! It took me a while to find the things I liked the best, but it's my go-to now! Thank you for your kind words! Best of luck on yours!! ❤️
Haha, and thank you! I am not patient either!! And the longer my resin takes to cure, the higher the chance a rogue dog hair makes it's home on it!! 😂😂
You make my heart so happy, thank you!! ❤️❤️ I figured that if I'm going to make tumblers anyway, it's just as easy to record them too. And I didn't know if anyone would benefit from them, but I figured it was worth a try. So thank you!!! 💕
Where did you get the machine that turns the cup? You are a really good teacher. I got more out of this video than I got from half a dozen other videos. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much!! I so appreciate knowing that it was helpful!! ❤️ As far as the cup turner, I usually buy mine on Amazon. Search for "single cup turner." They do come in doubles and even more attached together... But I really like the single ones so I can easily pick them up and tip them around to get the swirls I want. 💕
i did the technique with pearl white with bright colors … came out soo beautiful… but the do want to try the colors you did … how long do you wait to use ??? thank you for your awesome video !!!❤️🌸🌺💕
Thank you!! And I'm so glad you love yours!! I always give my cups a full 72 hours after the last layer before I use them. I always want to make sure they are fully cured. ♥️
I love you video and the mug is beautiful! I had problems with the epoxy not adhering to some of my resin even after I cleaned tumbler with alcohol before starting. Do you have any suggestions of why?
First, I sand my stainless steel cup with sand paper. Then I wash it with water and a little dawn dish soap. I rinse it really well, then dry it well too. (then spray paint, if that's in your plan). I don't clean mine with alcohol before applying epoxy because even after dry, alcohol can cause issues with the epoxy layer (and fingerprints too, for that matter- so I wear gloves after it's dry). Cleaning with alcohol before applying epoxy is notorious for creating "fish eyes" (little divots in your resin). I would guess this might be your problem. Sometimes fish eyes still happen with these swirl cups (where you drop alcohol inks on top of your resin). When I get these, once dry/cured, I lightly sand over them and apply another epoxy layer.
Ordered my inks for this. however the white pigment they are out of stock at moment. Could I just use white ink. My personnel preferance on mine will be less white. Yours is just fantastic. Applying heat are you using a hair dryer or heat gun?
Thank you so much!! ❤️ You can definitely use any white ink or pigment! Some are meant to "cell" or "feather" more, so I avoid those if I can (for this project, at least). And I use a heat gun that allows me to dial down the heat when needed: a.co/d/dw8GX73
Thanks for inspiring me! My son lives on coffee. He needs one of these. Can I only use alcohol inks or can I mix in Resin Dye as well? I have CastinCraft for the white. Will try that first. Availability of product in Canada is not what it is in the US. Thanks!
I have used several different things for the white, including resin dye as well as a concentrated white pigment. I would guess that as long as it makes an opaque white, it would work just fine! The only thing I would be a little careful with is actual acrylic paint, as that can speed up the curing process, and you can all of a sudden have a hot, gooey, sticky resin that will not move or be able to be applied. ❤
@@heathersmyth3517 that's awesome!!! I know finding things in Canada can be tough, and it's fairly expensive to ship things there. I'm so glad you found things, though!!! ❤️❤️
@@heathersmyth3517 I'm in Northwest Wisconsin, and the rest of the country thinks The country ends at the top of Illinois. So we joke and call ourselves Southern Canada 🤣
I love that! We are fortunate to be close to the border so I can order into Port Huron. It's still a 1.5 hr drive each way plus border crossing but can be worth the trip.
Forgive me if I'm asking naive questions. I'm a total newbie who's spinner just arrived an hour ago. Out of necessity I need to be frugal. It seemed to me that there was SO much ink being used. All total, I wouldn't be surprised if you uses an entire bottle. Would it be more economical to stretch the ink somehow. Adding however drops needed to an amount of resin. 5 colours = 5 tiny batches of resin. Not knowing how alcohol reacts to the resin, could you colour an amount of alcohol with the ink and pour it on to the cup? Sorry if these are stupid questions
There's nothing stupid about your questions!! We were all beginners at one point. And it's so exciting that you just received your turner! YAYYY! 💕 As far as the inks, you could definitely mix them into portioned resin. I don't know that you would get AS much swirling on the brown parts of the cup, because putting random drops of ink all over the cup like I did really changes up the shade of brown from one little spot to the next. And you definitely want to make sure your brown-colored resins are fairly well-colored (versus lighter and more transparent), so that will take more drops of ink to ensure a good, deep, color. I would probably put down a thin layer of your lightest brown on the entire cup first, to ensure it is fully covered. Then I'd randomly add the other colors of brown resin around the cup. I always do the white drizzle last, so it doesn't have much time to mix & blend with the browns. I like it to stay fairly white and just swirl, but not blend much. As far as amount used, I have had these same color bottles for over a year. I'll occasionally add a new bottle/brand of ink to try or experiment (I just started with these Pixiss colors). But typically, I don't go through ink very quickly. Each drop is just that, a drop. And each bottle has about 1/2 of an ounce of the ink. And if you're just interested in making coffee swirl cups for now, you can purchase just brown colors to save some money. ❤️ Best of luck, and welcome to the hobby! I hope you love making tumblers! ❤️
There are some turners out there that do have a tilt feature, but I don't have that, so I'm not sure where to get those. I just use an inexpensive single turner that I can just pick up all together and tip it as I want to. Then when I'm done with the swirls, I just set it back down on the table.
Yes!! At about the 40 second mark, the thing I pull out is basically a red solo cup (we had a bunch of transparent red ones from Christmas). I cut the bottom off, then I cut a slit all the way up the side. The slit up the side allows it to fit into almost any size cup. I typically put the solo cup in first (have it stick out the top of the tumbler a couple of inches) and then put the foam in the cup (make sure the solo cup doesn't slide down into the tumbler), then put your rod/stick into the foam. Putting the foam in after the solo cup helps hold the cup in place while you spray. It doesn't keep every single bit of spray paint out, but 99% of it. I take a little acetone to the tiny areas that I need to clean up on the rim. ❤️
No, the epoxy is not dishwasher safe. I wish it were!! But epoxy tumblers should not be soaked in water, nor should they be exposed to high temperatures.
I could absolutely make you one! The price depends on the size cup you would like. Please email me at FourthAndBirch@gmail.com to tell me what size(s) that you would like, and I will let you know the price. 👍 Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you, I appreciate your comment so much!! ❤️❤️❤️
That is beautiful, I ❤ it. The colours are gorgeous.
Thank you so much!!! 😊
I did a paint pour tumbler with 14 colors of acrylic paint. It made a phenomenal wood look. This minds me of that. I love browns.
That sounds amazing!!!! I love the natural colors (browns, etc) too. I would love to see your work! ❤️
This is beautiful! Love the way you did this. I love it! Thank you! ❤🌻
Thank you!! ❤️❤️
Thank you for the great tutorial. You have the best tuto for this tumbler. I will get all the inks you use and finger cross I get a similar look.!!

Absolutely perfect!!! I like drizzling the white on instead of drops. Love it. Thank you!
You're welcome!! The white definitely keeps its color better this way. It doesn't disperse into the other colors quite as much.

Awesome damned job!!!! Have you tried this technique on double walled liquid filled tumblers??

Thanks for the reply. I was able to match some of your colors AND get the same white at Michaels here in Canada. Happy Dance!

I'm in love with this. Can you share the name of the epoxy please?
Sure!! I used SwiftPoxy (by Tumblerpoxy).
Where do I find the tumbler insert that let's you tilt while it spinning???!
