We learn in the last book, that the reason why Snape’s worst memory is the bullying scene, is not because James embarasses Snape in front of Lily, but because Snape yells ”mudblood” at her when she comes to his defence. That was the moment he lost her forever, and that is why that is his worst memory.
It but James definitely helped make it happen. Years of abuse on snape, what did ya think was going to happen?

The reason why this is Snape’s worst memory is only because of what Snape shouted to Lily. I’ve read the book 7 times and I wrote this comment half a year ago, so I can’t be bothered to watch the video all over again in order to explain myself more specifically about exactly what I meant. I know, however, that I’m 100% right in my statement: *the reason why that was Snape’s worst memory was because he called Lily a mudblood* and nothing else. This has been confirmed by J.K Rowling herself, so there’s no need to argue. It’s just facts.

I was clearly referencing the plot of the book, which I believe was the point of my comment in the first place, but I cannot be certain of this, because I wrote this comment 6 months ago and still won’t watch the video all over again just to maintain a sense of what I was arguing for in the first place, while you we’re making a valid point about bullying in general. We can leave this conversation now, it’s not important because neither one of us are wrong.

The deleted scene I wanna see most is when Lupin asks Harry to be Teddy’s godfather.
As much as I love that entire subplot, in the filmed versions it just does not have as much weight as in the books IMHO. I don't even recall if Tonks and Lupin announce that they're expecting? Anyhoo - the knowledge of them expecting kids makes their deaths all the more grave in the books, which is why it's such a heavy moment. However, like I said, I don't know if this comes up in the films at all? So I can understand that they would cut such a scene which in the end means very little to a casual viewer. Don't get me wrong tho, I'd love it if ALL subplots at least got a few moments in all the films.

It would've had such a MAJOR impact to have had that whole scene where Lupin joins them at Grimauld Place and asks to join them and help protect them. The revelation of Tonks being pregnant and his horrible fear of everything going wrong. Then the whole fight about what James would've done and how upset he would be at his best friend for attempting to abandon his wife and child. We need to see just how close to home this whole war was. Then to see the elation on Lupin's face when he went to Shell Cottage to announce Teddy's birth. The love on his face as he talks about his family. The amusement he has while mentioning how Teddy's hair was changing, just like his mother's. We needed to see "happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." Taking joy in your family, especially at a moment such as birth, would definitely qualify as turning on the light. After the death of Dobby, we needed to see that life does indeed go on. There is still such a thing as happiness. All of that would've made his appearance in the forest when Harry used the resurrection stone so much more poignant.

I am SO UPSET about the scene that they left out with Remus Lupin asking Harry to be Teddy's Godfather. Remus was so underused. His character was so Important in Harry's life.
Also, ANY redemptive Draco Malfoy scenes. I was so upset when I saw that there were a lot more scenes that they thought of including and should've.

Draco throwing Harry his wand in Deathly Hallows
I think a redemption scene would completely go against Rowling's wishes and the portrayal/importance of Draco as a character. Draco was the embodiment of the pompous ignorant boy who grew up in a really prejudiced family. He was completely AWFUL in the books and the movie only showed a fraction of that. Even in HBP where we see him at his most vulnerable, he's still keen on proving himself to Voldemort as a worthy Death Eater to redeem his family's reputation; with being 'good' not really part of the agenda. I think any type of 'redemption' would age pretty badly, esp in our current climate where we're more educated and self-aware of racism (which Rowling based on the whole blood hierarchy off).
I really wanted to see the final exchange between Aunt Petunia and Harry when she says “You didn’t just lose a mother; I Lost my sister” and then Dudley and Harry’s final exchange when Dudley says that he didn’t think Harry was scum… that he acknowledged that Harry Saved him from the Dementors..
The aunt petunia scene is in the extended cut I believe
It's a powerful scene, but actually not in the books. Only Dudley shows something to Harry when the Dursley move. Petunia has a moment of hesitation, but then leaves without a word.
In my opinion, the house-elves in weren’t mentioned enough or given enough credit in the movies. They gave Neville a few of Dobby’s parts, left out the kitchens, left Winky out, left out everything about S.P.E,W., left out Hokey’s memory in the 6th book, and completely ignored Kreacher’s redemption, along with the story he told Harry, Ron, and Hermione about how he and Voldemort hid the locket and how he and Regulus got it back.

Not sure if its true but back in time when the movies were fresh there was a rumour I heard (I was young so not sure) that they wanted leave out Dobby from later episodes and Rowling said that the movie wont be made because Dobby is important.. 😄
The scene I most want to see almost definitely wasn't filmed. I want to see Harry use the Elder Wand to repair his Ollivander wand like he did int he book.

Severus Snape is hands down one of the top 3 in Harry Potter. Amazing performance from Alan Rickman R.I.P No one and I mean no one could have played that role like he did.
He was a VERY SPECIAL actor. Amazing in all of his roles. And Snape was somehow his masterpiece. No one could make it better.

I'd like to see the scene where Sirius gives Harry the Two-way mirror so they can communicate. It added so much more to the story of Sirius's "rescue" and subsequent death. When Harry started to look into the mirror randomly without comment in the Deathly Hallows it was plain odd!

Yeah, Sirius wasn't just hiding out in his family's untraceable home, he was spying on Harry and his friends through that mirror too. Then he was talking to Dumbledore using one of his ancestors in the paintings at his home who was also a previous headmaster at Hogwarts. I also think those paintings didn't get enough credit. They were the bugs of the wizarding world. I also think this is also why Dumbledore didn't want to be taken off the chocolate frog cards. He knew a way to spy on everyone. They even had a painting in the Muggle PM's office, and the wizarding hospital.
The Marauder's map also always showed Dumbledore pacing in his office. He wasn't just walking in circles all the time. He was spying on everyone to get the information he needed to bring down Voldemort. I also think that bowl full of memories was Dumbledore's storage for all the memories and things he gathers to keep as evidence. Dumbledore was a spy master.
One quick edit: Snape's worst memory is that he called Lily a mudblood. Without her in the scene, it's not really his worst memory.

This video also says Lilly was there beside James HELPING him bully Severus whereas in the original moment in the book she comes to Severus' defence, hence why he says he doesn't need help from a mudblood, which adds to why it's his worst memory

It's fine because the movie implies that Snape's worst memory is seeing Lily's dead body after Voldemort killed Harry's parents, and that's why he agrees to watch over Harry when he comes to Hogwarts.

Some characters were just missing entirely lol. Didn't even have Bill Weasley AT ALL until suddenly he's actually a pretty major character in the last book and they can't skip him now... but oops they didn't include him in any of the previous movies either, so people who haven't read the books won't know who he is... so now they have an established character with a whole backstory they suddenly need to introduce into the films. Just awkwardly shoehorn him with a shit introduction at Harry's house. "Hi, I'm Bill, I'm Ron's brother, got scratched a bit by a werewolf just so you know and oh I'm marrying Fleur btw... y'know, the French girl from GoF that hasn't been in the other movies since, remember her?!" lol

@@HappyBob701 I kinda wish they included the scene when Harry is in Hogsmede with Ron and HG, and he sees Mundungus, then he drops the things he selling and Harry sees a item belonging to Sirius and holds Fletcher down by the neck saying things like "Did you go the night he died and loot the place" that would have been funny then also show like a side to Harry, that's before Katie got cursed I think.
There were 2 scenes from the books I always hoped would be included and both involved Molly Weasley. The first is when she held Harry after he emerged from the Maze and was fighting back tears and she embraced like he had never been embraced before. Quite a moving moment. The second was at Grimmauld Place (in Order of the Phoenix), and she is fighting the boggart and it keep changing into different family members. Both were heartbreaking to read.
At least they put in "Not my daughter you BITCH!" =)

Agree with you, Molly was really struggling at that point and it was deeply poignant to read. Molly had always been the rock, so to see her like that hit home how bad things were.

My love for the movie version of Severus is just endless. A man, a boy, who was heavily misunderstood. Stepped on. And in the end still lived for a one-sided love. He came to really care for Harry. Unlike the book version of Snape (supposedly - he could've said 'For him?' in the moment to not feel embarrassed but who knows). I like how they made Snape a kinder version of what was portrayed in the books. It almost felt as if Alan's personality was more incorporated by the directors, balancing out the behaviour of the original Snape.
You may call it an unpopular opinion but I seriously think that Lupin should equally be loved by everyone just as Sirus cause he was also a kind of Father figure in Harry's life and played a pivotal role in teaching Harry some major spells ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Please don’t kill me, but I preferred lupin. We saw more of him and he had the father and son talk that I felt like Sirius and Harry never had, they didn’t speak much, at least they didn’t portray it that much in the movies
I think that Lupin always wanted to be there for Harry...And I agree with many that Dumbledore and the "Dark Creature" laws prevented that relationship. If even 1 person had spoken for Harry and Lupin, much less trauma would have occurred
The loss of Sirius is still one of the saddest moments in Harry’s life and I’d like to see that scene of Harry reflecting on his loss
Harry and Ginny relationship was weird in the films. Ginny`s personality was different than the books. I miss Dumbledore`s funeral, Firenze, the giant's story of Hagrid, Kreacher's love for master Regulus and Snape's involvement. Also, the crucio spell fron Harry to Carrow for spitting Prof Mcgonagall and a finale like the one of the book with Harry talking to Voldemort breaking or pausing up the fight next to them.
Personally I always wanted to see the part from OOTP when Harry was so devastated by Sirius’ death that he was tearing up everything in Dumbledore’s office yelling and screaming at him. That scene was pretty intense and extremely difficult to read through without feeling the same emotional pain and loss as poor Harry was. 🥺❤️
Not to mention Harry asking Nearly Headless Nick why Sirius couldn't come back as a ghost. Sirius wasn't afraid of death, and he would have found existence as a ghost unbearably lonely without anyone around that he knew and loved.
Sirius and snape flexing at grimauld place kitchen like idiots and harry asking them to stop...i always imagined it as an anime scene for some reason, with a chibi version harry jumping in the background all " no, stop it you two!".

Agreed. That scene was always the most memorable from OotP to me because Harry had NEVER acted like that before and I was so bummed when the movie changed it to a quiet grief scene with Dumbledore and Harry in his dorm room of all places...
I want to see Draco's scenes pit back into the movies. It really was a crime against his character that they removed the scenes that redeemed him and made him more sympathetic to the audience. They made him more than just a little shit, and a thinking and feeling human being.
I don't think he redeemed himself in anyway. He was still a git till the end of the book, but fortunately harmless.

Samantha Marriott - For character development in the movies, I completely agree with you. We actually _love_ those 'little things' & 'glimpses' of each character. Most are missing, removed for pacing instead. They _are_ important to us, because we love those characters & their story archs. NOT the action movies they _tried_ to become🤗🇨🇦

I wanted to see harrys reaction to sirius's death and then finding the 2 way mirror afterwards. This broke me in the book, knowing he couldve contacted sirius at any time and how sirius might not have died if harry had just used it AGHHH

They sort of hinted at it when Harry was taking things out of his trunk and comes across the broken mirror. But it lacks context, so unless you'd read the book, you wouldn't catch it or understand what you were seeing.

I think Remus asking Harry to be Teddy's godfather would have been the most beneficial to keep in film because in the Forest in DH pt 2, Harry turns to his ghost and mentions his son, and film only audiences are like WHAT??? It comes out of nowhere. At least that scene would add some context for what comes later.

I would definitely buy an extended edition of the Harry potter movies. I love getting to watch deleted scenes in their intended context when possible (because sometimes they contradict the theatrical cut).
So just like the extended movie version of LOTR and the hobbit as opposed to their their theatrical counterparts? Cuz I think loots of ppl would be interested in that
The TV versions include everything- though because of JKL's big mouth I dont know how much tv time they're going to get.
I hated how they mismanaged Harry confronting Dumbledore after Sirius died and how Harry destroyed the office before the prophecy was revealed. That was such a powerful and important scene.
I get that they had to cut deleted scenes for the theatrical release, but I think most fans would be happy to have a 3 hour cut of a lot of the movies. They could also strengthen the weaker films
The only ones with all deleted scenes (that are known) are the first two movies. On peacock at least, all the deleted scenes are back in the movies. Again, only the first two movies
*The young lily and snape scene was REALLY important in the books’* Lily tries to defend Severus but he’s to embarrassed and angry so he calls Lily a “filthy mid blood”. Lily runs off and the slur snape used is exactly why they stopped being friends and she ultimately chose James over him
I always thought i would have been amazing( in the books) to have some insight on how she dealed with that fight. Because we know how snape did( pretty bad). But lily also lost her chilhood friend and in a horrible way...the same kid who once told her it made no difference her blood status...called her a racial slur. Her friend was so brainwashed he was not the same and she had to step away from that because it was becoming toxic and she was just a kid with no way of dealing with that so she had to stay firm in her decision, even with that friend crying for her to listen to him for a moment.That had to hurt, i can't imagine that lily did not suffer a lot too because of that moment. What i like most of their dynamic is that, even if canonically snape's feelings were romantic, it can also work if they only ever had a strong platonic friendship ( look how devasted sirius was about james's death, snape could have been equally devasted and feeling guilty about lily without being romantically in love with her)

Arthur weasley, bill weasley, lucius malfoy, remus lupin, rodolphus lestrange, and long 'etc' list of men "allowed" their wives to fight , well, is not like it was the men's decision in the first place, they simply supported their partners in their decision to fight, because women are not children and men can't control their choices and tell them what they can or not do. A husband telling his wife that he doesn't allow her to fight, would not be being masculine, it would've been being a mysoginystic and abusive asshole and not even voldemort fitted that category in the harry potter saga.

In lion packs, lionesses are the ones who go hunting and are more agressive, penguins take turns with the egg and posterior baby so one parent stays with the egg/baby while the other risks it at the see for months for food and then they change places. Many insects literally eat the male after mating. In Seahorses the male carries the baby, many anphibians can change their sex depending on their environment. In many pray birds species the female is way bigger and stronger than the male. Etc etc. Your notion of feminity and masculity is ridiculous and def not the foundation of a marriage, and the harry potter fandom is really the worst to come with that crap because it's full of good and strong marriages that aren't based in what you think masculinity and feminity is. Also, protecting your wife is not forbidding her from choosing to take a risk, it's her decision, she is a full grown adult , you are no one to forbid her anything.
Dumbledore’s funeral should have been included. Hagrid as the bearer, bringing Dumbledore forward for burial, the Centaurs firing arrows in salute to the fallen headmaster, and even the Merpeople paying their respects. To add to this, the time after the funeral when Harry, feeling broken-hearted, breaks up with Ginny because he must continue Dumbledore’s mission to find and destroy the remaining horcruxes. As well as when Hermione and Ron tell Harry that they will absolutely be coming with him on this mission.
I think a series of some kind would be the best thing moving forward. They would be able to explore each detail much more closely, and especially towards the end, the gradual approach would be well worthwhile. I would imagine the first three books taking up one season each, and the last four books taking up two seasons each. I want to see the Gaunts get explored a bit more, as do I want to see Harry's feelings towards the Deathly Hallows. Exploration and expression will be the biggest things separating a series from the movies. St. Mungo's was terribly overlooked.
Totally late on this, but in Deathly Hallows pt. 1, Harry and Ron are talking, discussing the necklace/mission, and he says he won't be returning, and Ron pretty much informs him, "nope, I'm coming, and Hermoine is coming too because we won't last without her", buuuut I feel you on wanting the other scenes!! Have you seen that part though?! I don't think it was an extra.
YES. YES. YES. From the moment I read the book, I was dying to see how they would bring Dumbledore's funeral to the screen and I was so upset to learn they didn't even film the sequence. There is concept art for it, but we'll sadly never see all of the characters from all of the books gathered to mourn the headmaster.
I would love to see the moment in Prisoner of Azkaban where Draco and co. dresses up as dementors, and gets attacked by Harry's patronus during a Quidditch match. 😆
The page missing on Lily's Letter to Sirius was taken by snape. For the reason that it had a photo of Lily laughing. Snape cried upon seeing the photo. There as also a photo of a baby Harry riding on a broomstick - so the part of the letter that mentions "you'd think he was born on a broomstick" is proof of this
I wanted to see Harry trash Dumbledore's office like in the books. I know some people think it was too dramatic of Harry but I think it highlighted how much pain he was in

@Amber Well, he didn't even need to learn Occlumency at all. Dumbledore should've just believed in him, told about the prophecy and the situation he's in. It would all be okay then. Everything happened in the book is simply Dumbledore's fault. It was justified in the book, Dumbledore explains everything step by step and apologizes to Harry, even sheds a tear for him.
The movie version is just a joke, Harry loses his only relative and 1 hour later they sit there calmly and talk about the prophecy, it's actually unbelievable lmao
That scene was brilliant. Harry always bottles it all up, it made his pain and anger and that whole build up of that hear seem so real. And Dumbledore’s response to it...brilliant.
Dumbledore is to blame for a lot of things to be honest. Not allowing James to have the Invisibility cloak to protect his family when it's his property, could have literally saved the Potters, they could have hid long enough to apparate to their Plan B location or somewhere safer. I understand it would have been dangerous for Voldemort to get his hands on it but he still didn't have the resurrection stone neither the elder wand so it would have been fine and we see Harry recklessly use it and it proved nothing serious. Not to mention keeping the whole Harry is Horcrux secret, giving Harry the silent treatment in OoP, not telling him about the prophecy, using Snape to teach him Occlumency and allowing him to ill-treat Harry knowing they're both ill-adept to train and learn from one another, etc, etc... Dumbledore really is a knob but again it shows depth to the character and that 'the most wise and powerful wizard' isn't all that wise and powerful at all.

Dumbledore is so manipulative and one of the things that frustrates me the most was the fact he made Harry stay at the Dursley’s even though he knew he was being abused. I hated that whole excuse about ‘growing up away from the fame would make him normal’ that’s a harsh way of making someone humble.
I agree with the one that lupin and other side characters didn't receive enough credit. I also think that they should have add one scene that in deadly hallows (book), harry and kreacher becomes more friendly/kind to each other and even kreacher starts to cook for them and clean the house etc.

Glad you mentioned Lucius. He was SO under represented. They used an actor with all the talent in the world and gave him a 'by the way' role. Also, I'd have to re-read but when James has Snape upside down, wasn't Lily halfways laughing but saying not to do that? Maybe I made that up LOL.
The book says her lip twitched almost like in a smile. I think she was about to laugh but then remembered Snape is her friend and so that's pretty rude.
No she wasn't, she was actually furious at James and threw tons of insults at him until he let Snape go.
The books leave the option to interpret Snape's Worst Memory as being his worst memory not because he was bullied, but because his own actions in that moment caused Lily to completely cut him out of her life
It seems like such a minor thing, but I really wanted to see Kreachers redemption.
Sirius did have an explenation why he treated Kreacher poorly - he was a reminder of the family who hated him, plus Kreacher most likely helped Walburga with the punishments, he hated Sirius just as much
But Harry, he's different. He knew how much Kreacher loved Regulus and gave him the last thing that he ever possessed, what he died for, and Kreacher was so overwhelmed with the good emotions, started to really like Harry, even stopped calling Ron a bloodtraitor or Hermione a mudblood. Even the little, grumpy houselve could LEARN because he was given love and affection, and was so loyal to Harry.
What I also wanted in the movies were the elves in the battle. Kreacher, now loyal to Harry and changed for better, leading an army of houseelves into battle, yelling "FOR MY MASTER"

YES I couldn't agree with this more. Kreacher is seriously such an amazing character and when we learn of his story of being forced to go with Voldemort to the horcrux lake/cave. Then it even connects Harry and Kreacher in a way because they both dealt with such horrible trauma from that same place. And also how the house elf magic is stronger than the magic that would keep humans in the lake with the inferius. Then when you find out Kreacher is still alive in the end AND leading the house elves into battle??? It was enough to make me bawl my eyes out just reading it. Such a shame how much of the house elves storylines they leave out
I always thought it was ( no matter his reasons) very hypocritical of sirius ti treat kreacher like that while at the same time he agreed with hermione about crouch mistreating winky and told harry that if he wanted to see how a person really was, he should pay attention to how they treated their inferiors.
I was honestly monumentally disappointed that SPEW was completely cut out from the movie subplots. It grave a great redemption arc for Kreacher as well as just gave a really satisfying conclusion when the house elves actually ended up joining in the battle of Hogwarts all because of both SPEW and because of Kreacher leading them.
I really wish that could have made it into the movie, because it was wonderful reading it in the books.
I also really loved that Winky had such a nice arc of being basically the foil to Dobby. Whereas he hated being a slave and wanted nothing more than to be free, Winky saw it was an affront and was devastated when she was "forcefully" freed and even, if I recall, had the house elf equivalent of a drinking problem to cope with not being able to serve her masters (and then continued it when she learned of their fates and of what Crouch Jr. did). But even then she overcame it enough and joined with Kreacher and the other house elves in the battle of Hogwarts.
I was really disappointed they kept Winky out of the movies entirely for that reason.
True ,but the "FOR MY MASTER" line was meant for regulus not Harry and I'd I remember correctly it said "IN THE NAME OF BRAVE MASTER REGULUS"

My daughter rewatched the whole series and she realised how much she had missed as a child. She didn't realise how important Sirius was to Harry. We had the books but we have moved several times and they were lost. I think I might buy them for her birthday to read.
I’m still PISSED that they took out Draco’s redemption arch on deathly hallows pt 2 like honestly so many people hate slytherin because they see only the bad parts of these characters and it’s sad that we never got to see honest character development within the malfoy family in the films and the whole Lupin situation urgggg that makes me upset as well there were so many moments that they could have been left in the film that would really finalize making these characters feel real and letting us see raw emotion and interactions that would make these movies have more depth like besides the magic elements there would be normal interactions that we could relate to or find more emotional because there would be more context to go off of
Not just Draco really. The movies really weren't all that great in character building. Take for example Ginny Weasley. For those who only saw the movies it's quite puzzling why Harry suddenly ends up in a relationship with her. Besides her role in part 2 it's not like she appears to be of any significance to the story and then suddenly Harry is dating her, and her character is more than shallow in the movies whereas in the books she's really awesome and it's very understandable what Harry sees in her. Most of the Weasley family for the matter aren't really great in the movies. Arthur Weasley only looks like a muggle obsessed dude. And what about Percy? Only in the first movie you get to see a bit of him but the struggles with him turning against his own family and the impact it has are never really well shown. Or the other brothers for that matter? Charlie and Bill appear in a few scenes, but appear not significant at all. Only George and Fred come off as decent because the actors did a hell of a job to get their characters right despite so many scenes that would have made their characters more interesting and deep being left out. But even Ron doesn't come off as well as in the books. Just the clumsy jealous side kick. The movies didn't do any justice for as well the Malfoy family as the Weasleys. And what about the rivalry between the two families? Yes, noticeable, but not as well as the books. Terrible character building. The movies may look fancy and all that with all their special effects but they are nothing compared to the books. As someone who prefers story over fancy looks, I think the movies are absolutely terrible. But there are worse book to screen adaptations. After the second Percy Jackson movie I decided any future movie wasn't worth my time and I should just stick to the books. And although the first movie adaptation on the Maze Runner was absolutely awesome (finally a good adaptation!!!), when part 2 came to the big screen within half an hour I walked out of the cinema crying because it did total injustice to the story. It was called the Scorch Trials and wasn't even about the Trials at all! Just a bunch of kids escaping, while they knew in the books they couldn't escape so they weren't escaping at all and were participating in the trials. They didn't just change some scenes or leave things out. They literally changed the whole story and it had 0 to do with the book or even the title anymore. I actually tried to get my money back. Also I wasn't the only one. So when it comes to book to screen adaptations, Harry Potter was decent for sure. But I believe it is always better to choose between book OR movie but never read a book and watch the movie because when you do the movie will always be a big disappointment. So if you watch a movie, don't read the book. And if you read a book, never watch the movie. I decided on that after my total disappointment in the Scorch Trials.

He was rich, straight, spoilt, white boy raised by the wizarding equivalent of Nazis who owned a slave (Dobby) that they openly abused. Between his privilege and upbringing there was almost no way he wouldn't turn out the way he did; a bigoted bully. But what I loved about his character was that, even though he was the beast his parents almost carefully constructed by their own shittiness, he was able to look past that and make his own decisions in the end. He made his own choice to change even when his environment did everything to steer him away.
Mainstream films hardly ever depict such a personality profile as sympathetic because it is seen as morally dangerous territory as society fails to see the dark side of the gryffindor personality and fails to see the positive potentials of the Slytherine disposition. Depicting such a person positively seems a risk when you already have fundamentalists who hate the films because of magic. But if one pays attention to the films it should be obvious that Harry and his friends are equally immoral many times as Draco is. After all, they poisoned two boys and threw their bodies into a closet simply out of prejudiced assumpions that proved to amount to nothing. The truth is always only seen by the minority of people but it's more than hinted at if one thinks for themselves and doesnt fall into only seeing things from the protagonist perspective (in terms of Draco and the gryffindor gang).

The most signs I can remember for him being a voldy supporter at the time was the "friends" he had (most of which were death eathers) but honestly I find that completely understandable, considering he's a halfblood in a dorm full of voldy supporters and blood supremacists and from what we can see he just wasn't a popular kid outside of his house either (he was very poor, ugly, unclean, bullyed, a halfblood and rumored to be a kkk member, I can't imagine there was much love out there for people like him lol, specially considering his personality)

My belief, and my hope, is for the future, one that I'll probably never see. I'm nearly 60, which makes it sound odd for me to be a Potter fanatic, but I am. Especially in the last few years, when things have gone so far off-track from how I'd hoped, over and over again... Anyway, I believe that in the years to come, when films and film-making make even more technological leaps than in the last 40 years, that the stories will be retold. I mean, imagine the technological differences between the first (chronologic) Star Wars movie and the last - think of what CGI and other digital technologies have added to film arts. People with smart phones can now make movies of better quality than what professionals did in the 60s. One thing that I think we all love so much about the seven Harry Potter novels is how much more in depth they are than the movies - how you're actually, as a reader, in Harry's head so much of the time. I agree with Bryan about deleted scenes, but even more, I mourn how a 500, 600, 700 page novel has to be cut down into a 120-minute movie. I would love to see each novel turned lovingly, creatively, and (most important) faithfully adapted into a cable or streaming SEASON, to be watched in parts. Imagine if each book could be made to extend over hours (the same hours it take us to read, or re-read, the book to get every nuance out of it). None of the scenes that are so beloved by readers would have to be left out, adapted, or made worse by adding things that were never meant to be there. Someday, I truly hope that a new generation of Potter lovers will be able to enjoy a more accurate version of the Harry Potter stories, with each scene acted as if the characters leapt off the pages. I know that many of you will say that the actors in the 2001-2011 movies are so iconic, you can't imagine anyone else playing those roles, and to some extent, I agree with you. No one will ever play Severus Snape like Alan Rickman. But with each generation comes new actors, who will also be able to bring a more authentic feel to the stories. Of course, I know we all believe that books are far better than books, but I dream of seeing the Harry Potter novels each brought to life as written, not as condensed and rewritten.
Unfortunatley if it is ever remade it will be done in the USA and ruined by putting Americain actors in the main roles and British actors in the support roles if at all. Plus the Political Correct brigade will be in on it. Look how they are going after J K Rowling
I grew up with Harry Potter, I’m only a year older then the main characters and after all the rewatching of the movies, I have to admit, they aren’t the best actors of all time honestly. I’d have no problem seeing other young talented actors, and there are many of them, playing the 3. the only one Id miss would be Alan rickman. The rest could even be recasted without a problem

There was a scene that was deleted after the showing of the last movie. It's the scene in Snape's tears,the extended version of that scene where we see all of Snape's life and love for Lilly, it was much longer and more in depth when I saw it in the cinema but every version I've seen since has it much shorter. Such a shame because it was a great scene.

I wish they put the scene in where Harry destroys Dumbledore's office after Sirius' death. It really made his death that much more real to me as a reader
I wish they included the scene of Harry talking to Sir Nicholas about ghosts. That part of the book made me cry so much. They really didn't do Harry's grieving any sort of justice.
They didn't explain the connection between Moony, Worm tail, Padfoot and Prongs, which would helped The Prisoner of Azkaban make so much more sense to people who hadn't read the books. Also, I think they left out a vitally important emotional scene from Goblet of Fire, when Harry is in the hospital wing after the tournament and Mrs Weasley hugs him as he cries, like a mother. He hasn't had that since his mum died. It is one of the most moving scenes in book and I am sad it didn't get in the film.
I'd love to see an animated version of the books done with the characters looking like in the films and as many of the actors that played in the films doing the voices. I would want to see the emotional backstories of the main characters of Snape and Dumbledore and how it affects not only them but the other characters around them as time goes on. There was so much heavy emotion and motivations going on between characters but was never shown in the films and that for me is a shame but this would be a way to finally see those scenes and interactions.

I liked the scene where Dudley had a slight bit of redemption. I know we love to hate the Dursley's, but the scene right before where Petunia talked about losing a sister was very touching.
The moment with Petunia was actually incredibly touching and thankfully hit on what was lost about her in the movies: She didn't actually hate Lily out of spite because she was a "weirdo" since they once had a very loving sisterly relationship. She was mainly jealous because Lily could do magic, and Lily got the invite to Hogwarts despite Petunia practically trying to beg them to take her too. She was angry and bitter for it and her jealousy made her resent Lily because of all of the praise and attention she got, but it was all out of pure envy/jealousy, and deep down she did still very much love Lily (and even protected Harry for it, despite doing a terrible job at it because of what he was...a reminder of why she had resentment for her sister). So the fact that she gave such a nice little ending bit before she left was lovely, and I was bummed that didn't make it in the movie outside of being a deleted scene.
I still can't get over what they did to Order of the Phoenix. Litterally the longest book over 900 pages, but is the shortest of all the films (If you count Deathly Hallows both parts as one whole film). They missed so many great moments and world building. Philosophers Stone book was about a 4th of the length of Order, but the film was about 20 minutes longer, and Chamber of secrets was 30 minutes longer.
I also hated how they removed most of the Voldemort penseive scenes in Half Blood prince. The Gaunt scenes were some of the most memorable scenes in the book and are a huge part of Tom Riddles character. The movie implies he was just born evil with the penseive scenes, which it's not like that in the book.
The music and the points you make definitely hit me in the films. I actually shed tears.
I remember an interview with Daniel when he said "how long until the HP or LotR films are remade ?" The interviewer was incredulous but Daniel pointed out that Spider-man was already remade after less than ten years , why not a series on a streaming service where each series covers one book?

If series adaptations like 'His Dark Materials' continue to be good quality, I'd really love to see such a series. Whilst I loved the films as a child and still love them somewhat, I agree that they cut out way too much stuff from the books (whether because it'd make the films too long or for some other reason). 'Deathly Hallows' was the only one where I read the book FIRST and watched the films SECOND, and I consequently found the 'Deathly Hallows' films to be rather anemic story-wise.
Make it animated so we don't need to get used to a new live cast that we will never like more than the original. And we all know this.

He's the right age, won't need much in terms of make-up/hair, and honestly a great enough actor to channel the absolute a**hollery, acidic wit, and a range of other emotions needed here. He's got a knack for a certain kind of 'rattled, at the end of his rope but keeping it cool by sheer will and stubborness' energy even Rickman's performance lacked sometimes, but would be more truthfull to the book.

I really like the two instances where Dudley is trying to be kind to Harry. When he brings him a cup of tea and leaves it in front of his door and when he asks why Harry isn’t coming with the Dursley’s when they move and afterwards shaking his hand. It really shows that he had the potential to be a better person to Harry if only his parents hadn’t messed up his worldview. And how after being rescued by Harry from the Dementors he did grow to care for him. In his own way

I agree with you 100% if not cut them back in for an extended Anniversary addition, then giving them as Deleted scenes would be perfect.
I think some time scenes need to be cut, because they change how we see characters in a bad way. For example the scene with James and Snape. If you have Lily with Snape, yes it makes it worse for Snape because he is embarsed in front of the girl he likes, but you have to remember what happened in the books. She is around but not with Snape, she sees what is going on and steps in to help him. He responds by insulting her with the worse insult possible at which point James goes from laughing and picking on Snape to angry and wanting to hurt Snape for insulting Lily. It just has so interesting of a dynamic. It shows James is not a great person, and is immature but then also shows a hint of what he is growing in to. It shows how Lily is kind and willing to get involved to help others, but also why she stops being friends with Snape. It also shows how Snape does truly cruel things when he is feeling insecure and doesn't think about who it would hurt. He is willing to call his best friend the worse slur imaginable just because he is embarrassed she stepped in to defend him.
The version in the movie doesn't show all of this obviously, but the version cut shows things that contradict this. Its not his worst memory because he was bullied or because he was embarrassed in front of lily. It is his worst memory because it is the day he lost his best and only true friend.
Gotta say 3 things I wish they kept in the movies the most, was Peter Pettigrew trying to help Harry in the end to redeem himself, Creature becoming nice after Harry gave him the locket and Harry fixing his wond, plus talking to Dumbledore's portrait. Oh also the whole fight scene with the house-elves, centaurs and the rest and with the speech Harry gave and how he took the clock off to show he was alive.

I feel that Harry's forgiving his cousin and making amends with family was a huge part of the book for me... I remember crying when I read it. I think the scene I'd wanted to see the most was the wedding scene between Lupin and Harry. If I remember correctly from the books, that should have been the first time Remus asked Harry to allow him to accompany him, Ron and Hermione on their mission. He asked Harry to be Teddy's godfather when he arrived at Shell Cottage to give Bill and Fleur the good news and found them. It was after Harry had called Remus out for being a coward and wanting to abandon his wife and child. Remus was absolutely terrified about having a child; he was afraid that his curse would make him a terrible father, or worse that he had passed his curse down to his unborn child. He wasn't afraid to die if it meant he could leave his son with knowledge that he was a hero. I think that was really a defining point of Lupin's character. He was ashamed of lycanthropy and in many ways used it as an excuse not to live his life. Even if the director had spun the scene as Remus asking Harry to be the godfather, I think it was still important because it would have shown that their relationship was no longer student and favorite teacher.
That scene wasn't at the wedding. I think it was in the kitchen at grimmauldplace, a few days after the wedding. :)
I just wished they added harry grieving over Sirius death in the movies. I cried the rest of the book after Sirius died because of how upset Harry was to the point that he asked nearly headless nick how one becomes a ghost because he just wants to see him again...

I think you are referring to the photos of Maggie Smith (McGonagall's actress) in a wheelchair. That was the actress needing a wheelchair between scenes, not the character being in a wheelchair in a scene. Strong of her to still manage to such an amazing performance.
In the book she comes back from a hospital with crutches that's why she could not see peeves attack Umbridge when she left at the end of the book.

I wish the scene with Dudley and Harry could have been put in the films when he says his final goodbye to Harry stating he doesn't think he's a waste of space, it certainly made me tear up when I first saw it and also the scene where draco chucks his wand to Harry shouting Potter when he's fighting voldermort trying to help him.
I want to see EVERYTHING that was shot. We deserve it ALL. Thank you for this. Years later still getting more. Again Thank you.

Or just harry's actual reaction to that scene. He was distraught, everyome had always told him his father was great and he saw him being cruel to someone else just because " sirius was bored"...and harry had suffered that level of bullying from duddley and his friends too, so he waa shocked. He went to the floo, to confront sirius and lupin about it.

I want to see Draco's scene cause it just gives us a lot more depth into why he's suddenly changing from 5th year to that 6th year pretty much brokem boy. So I would want to see that.
And I would want to see that final talk between Lupin and Harry, again, just gives a lot more depth into their character and how life still goes on even in these dark times and all that.
So yeah these are the 2 main scenes that I would love to see in the films.
I was really bummed they don’t show the scene of Harry being angry and upset and breaking Dumbledore’s things in the end of Order of The Phoenix. It would have expressed his hurt and pain better. Specially after being given the cold shoulder all year by Dumbledore and losing Sirius.

Theses images from Deathly Hallows pt 2 where Harry is looking at Voldemorts corpse. Its an alternate death scene for Voldemort of him dying like a normal person - this wouldve been a cool one to see
I agree with everything you said, they need a new extended version with the outtakes.
I wish that we had seen Harry crying about Sirius by the lake alone. I don't think there was one scene that really had some quiet, reflective alone time seeing deeper into Harry's character. It seems as if as soon as the emotion reaches a certain level, they skip to the next scene and act as if it never happened.
2:49 the book says : "I dont believe that Dumbledore was ever friends with Grindalwald"
