oH! Use a toothpick out of plastic. Better than metal, that can do damage

Thanks Luke. My Galaxy S4 made it five years without this issue, so my pockets must be cleaner than yours! Oh, and as Steve Nilsen also noted, using something other than metal is probably safer.

OMG, after I purchased portable wireless chargers and this absolutely did the trick. I visited a repair place and they quoted me over $100.00. Thank you so very much.

yeah but what if the problem isn't the dirt inside, but the charging port itself? what do i do

I don't like seeing metal used for things like this where metal live (?) contacts are around.
As a first go, try the end of one of those disposable dental flossers, a lot of people have them. I've a y shaped one and the other end of it has sort of thin
end covered in teeth that is literally designed for getting stuff out of a thin gap. Some might be a bit too flimsy but some will work.

Assuming it's lint and not your jack wearing out in just 7 months. My jack was clean as a whistle when I used a tooth pick.

  • @rauftaj

Use a wooden toothpick or a plastic instrument to clean it out. Metal will damage the port and may render it worse than before even if it’s clean

the charger jack becomes loose over time if you have it plugged in while you use the phone then it becomes intermittent and eventally wont charge, you can either use another charger cable or you can compress the underside of the jack making it fit tighter on the phones charger jack input, over time the charger jack input wears thinner and no charger cable jack will connect properlly , and youll have a nighmare trying to charge your phone it will say its charging but its actually losing power and will drain to 0 , compressing the charger cable jack will work for a while until it doesn't then if you compress the charger jack further it will eventually wreck the metal pins on the phones usb charger jack and the phone will never charge up again rendering it inoperable, sad days

Same happened to me, the lightning cable didn’t in go in all the way and only charges in a special position until I took out all the lint from the port.

I just used a steel dental pick on a phone I found. I was able to get in cleaned out so that the dead phone would charge. I contacted a number which was on the phone (owners Dad) and he is going to advise his son I have phone. Thanks for the video. I would never have tried this if I had not seen video.

You're not worried about a short circuit using a paperclip? I cleaned out my 5-10 vape pen with a paperclip, accidentally pushed the button, and that was it for my vape pen. I would think something similarly dangerous would be the case with a phone.

    • @LukeEdwin

As I mentioned in the video, you need to be really careful not to touch the electrical contacts, but in hindsight, I should’ve just told people to use a plastic toothpick or something

Check that thing in the dryer. There's usually a bunch in that thing. If not - wash some clothes and MAKE some. If you have no dirty clothes, then go roll around in the dirt or something. You should be paying me for this advice
