Nice one Izzy. Rescuing the lower bits from the crappy laying👍 Liking the random colours of the reclaimed brick. Classy finish 👍👍

Me before watching your videos:- brick laying is easy all you do is just whack cement down and shot the bricks on!

Great content pal
Nice job.

I'm not in the trade but this is a brilliant channel, well done mate 👏
Great content as always, the remedial work was interesting ....have you ever thought of using the starter bars as a profile...?
Keep up the great work!!
Great work mate looks great would definitely look into using a laser level on tripod next time centre of the room rotating around measuring up to underneath of your steels and wall plates save a lot of time 🕰️ great work thou 🏅
Thanks so much mate! Yea definitely should invest in something like that 💪 appreciate the support buddy, hope your well!
I swear you’ll be a movie star 🤣
😂😂😂😉
Nice and tidy blockework I only go up to 8 courses as one a short are at 5.6 high
Excelente trabajo saludos 👍👌👏⚒️🧱
Thanks so much buddy!
@Izzythebricky hi m8 quick question had concrete delivered this morning to fill trench footings for extension. Early hours expecting heavy rain (roughly 10 ,11 hours ) after been layed. U think i shoud cover with tarpaulin tonight late or be ok? I know little rain is good for curing/ strength in concrete but its gonna bang down. Appreciate your comment m8 thank u
Great work guys. Can I ask why you don’t cut out the cavity or cut in a vertical DPC where the extension meets the house?
Great video. Quick question. How are you tying the new wall into the existing one? I saw a metal strip on the old one....? What exactly is a ... starch pack? Toothing in is when you knock out every other brick and tie it together like that I guess. What made you choose this method? (Ok, sorry. A few questions!)
Do you find when laying concrete blocks... after a 3 or 4 courses... they move out of plumb a bit.... tip/sink/twist slightly?
Hi Izzy being an old bricklayer myself I noticed on a lot of videos the amount of mortar being dropped when you are bricklaying I personally don't have a problem with it but my old boss would have gone mad saying first the cost and secondly saving the hod carrier from mixing more than was necessary
Nice work lads. 💪 Will you need to put a cavity tray in the existing wall above the extension to protect the now internal door and new ceiling from moisture? Not a builder just curious...
9 course of connies in one go? Brave man
ere in Ireland we normally do 6-8 courses
Always 9 course mate💪💪 and after that we say a little prayer before going home 😂💪💪
Jeez you two can graft some! If Drew can learn everything you teach him to the same standard as you, you lads are going to be an amazing team. Nice to see young chaps with high standards and pride.
Thanks so much mate, really appreciate it🙂 he's a good lad
Drew needs a pay rise just to clear up your mess! Also save his energy knocking up by using what went on the ground! Can I join the competition for the most pug on a trowel.....
😂😂😂 love it mate 💪💪
😂 you be the best out Iz, just constructive criticism, oh and I'm little jealous......
@@uobefm2340 hahaha always take everything on board 😘 I like to keep drew busy making muck 😂😂
ref the 'tanking' just make the tray longer, doesnt matter if the weeps are underground as long as its free draining. Also pretty sure your missing a 4" damp on the outer wall level with the top of the tray. NHBC like to see that.
Thanks so much mate really appreciate it
Sure evertime I watch your videos its always raining
Thanks for the comment, mate really appreciate it
isac the quickest way ive found cleaning bricks is with a sthill saw
Hiya mate! Yea we've been using that too 💪💪
So silly question, if the pad stones have tapers on them to get them out of mold, why not set them either name/frog side up or down? Assuming the bottom/base isn't too flat?
Really good question...I couldn't actually tell you myself mate😂 I'll find out for you
❤❤❤ lm from Bangladesh
👏👏👋👋
Wow that cutter was close to your leg 😅
@27:00 wish I'd done the same on mine..... ended up with fat joints or skinny bricks....... everyday is aN education. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm and your content 👍
P'fect job and knowledge sharing
Thanks so much brother! Appreciate it! Hope you and the family are all doing well 🙂
Next video can you explain about ranging brickwork , when I build a corner I plumb each ends of the bricks and put level across but then when I start plumbing in the middle the corner is either leaning in or out even tho I’ve ranged the front through… thanks
Hiya mate, I'll try and cover it in my next video 🙂 keep an eye out! It's quite hard to get everything pumb when your starting out, but it's just practice mate! All the best!
@@IzzytheBricky Thankyou , keep up the amazing vids
Is there a lean mix? Do you leave a gap between the cavity insulation and external skin of the wall? Just asking for my own experience.
Top stuff. Are you gauging off the houses courses or did you reset to 85mm own gauge and lose it. Top geez
Hiya mate! We're following the existing house 💪 but the last couple of courses the house beds are really tight, so I came off the bond, but I'll get it back on a few more courses when the original house beds open up again 🙂
Bluddy hell , I said to me self that wall plate won’t be level … should of let the joiner sort it 😆
😂😂😂 I thought something was off 😂😂
@@IzzytheBricky but .. youll never make that mistake again .
Keep up the great work big lad
I wondered why you didn’t laser it, now I know , you wanted to stay out the rain.
😉😉😉
How do you know what depth and width to do your foundations. Is there a rule?
Pointing the block work cavity side?
Another good video buddy why don't you lay your bricks 4 to a ft and bump up the block work ?
Hiya mate, great question! I find it hard to bumb up my blockwork with 7ns. And also it throws off the insulation 🙂 I'd rather have blockwork, ties and insulation work and just have to slightly bend the ties down by 30mm
There SHOULD be a LARGE air space gap in-between the face of the insulation and the OUTER WALL inside the cavity ; this includes an air space gap in-between the face of the insulation and the cavity-wall-tie drip point which is in the centre of the cavity. Ask N.V.Q. BRICKWORK teachers for PROOF of this !
Padstones should be laid flat and not on edge. It's a trap shape to show which is base. The wider is the base.
I've never heard of that before mate, I'll look into it! Cheers 🙂
I'm not a bricky but am confused, your double tray, the bottom one made a gully? So how does it drain?
Clearly I missed something
Should of used acro Jack's would of saved your back when lifting rsj
Probably so😂💪
Who's took out the ceiling joists? 😂 heads up
Instead of cutting every brick down on the front, could you not have just cut down the 2 middle ones?
Great vid !
One word genies ??
How come you don’t put a half or a cut iin to rescue the bond on the blues is it just a case of doesn’t matter as never seen ..non bricky here by the way just curious don’t think my ocd would allow it 😂😂😂
Hiya mate, it would throw off the bond on the blues, or if I did that I'd have to have huge perps. Either way, even with a half, or a full, I would have lost my bond over them with the bigger bricks 🙂
Hope your well mate and thanks so much for watching 🙂
How are you getting away with that 100mm cavity under new regs izzy? 👍🏻
It's 150mm mate 🙂
So it is 👌🏻
Fourth
Hand movements of Gordon Ramsey
I thought there was a double drip on the ties 🤔
Hiya mate, yes there is, but it's always best to have them NOT leaning back, even though there's a double drop, just makes sure that no moisture can get into the cavity wall
The original brickwork looks terrible. How did you raise the girders? Pulley block?
Do you cover London Area ?
Sorry I don't buddy
Help your mate clean the bricks 🧱, he must be looking at you filming yourself thinking 🤨….
never hit your leval !
Need any plasterers??
How come your laying fog down?
Hiya mate, I wasn't concisely doing it, but the frogs are so small it's quite immaterial 🙂 all the best brother
Why did they knock your work down?
Probably by accident when pouring the concrete floor unfortunately 🙃😂
Don’t call them weep holes you call them pee-po’s! That’s the law! Also drew needs a pay rise
They are not wee poles they are little Latvians 😂😂😂
if you're tanking the external brickwork why are you installing a damp tray? Glad to see you haven't accepted the misconception of wall ties every course on a corner, why are people doing that now?
How did you become a bricklayer?
Theres a podcast somewhere on Fix radio's website about how I get into the trade mate🙂
@@IzzytheBricky thank you
con blocks why?????
Why did the ground workers knock your blues down? U seemed far too chilled about it..
No point getting annoyed about something that has already happened, but they knocked it over when poring the concrete
Do you get paid when you are not laying bricks because you are helping the joiners?
Hi mate, great question, I'm working on day work on this job
not even half a jammy dodger out of plumb
Haha cheers brother
Hate to piss on your bonfire, but holding them steels up on your shoulder while standing on a fiberglass ladder at the top off a landing is death waiting to happen.
Dont get paid danger money lad. Be safe
Cheers brother appreciate it💪 surprised how strong those ladders are though 💪😂 all the best brother, hope your well!
Why do you keep rushing around either priced job wrong or just trying to look good on camera silly lad
He does need to slow down.
Because he’s a grafter and has youth on his side. I was like that when I was his age but when you get older you’re only good for 12 hrs of graft and you need days to get recovery. It’s difficult to get rid of that mentality when it’s in you.
Not rushing at all, it's how I like to work. Quickly 💪 I'm actually on DW, but I like to get loads done in a day 💪🙂 all the best Karl 💪
Always count on the groundworkers to destroy your work 😤😤, how many cuts have you got off that strategical placed scaff clip !
Picked another tough one there mate 🫣😳🧱👍🏼.
See you for a chat tomorrow 🎙️📻😉🧱👍🏼
Mate, ground workers on this job are really...not great 😂😂 having to stone up and scrape round the entire extension yesterday before we even started laying! Which took till about 11🙃 on the way to London now, doing "Admin" speak soon mate 😉😉☺️
Grafter you are 👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Cheers buddy
The neighbouring fence should be a wall, i can see trouble ahead, unless the ground level isn't quite how i see it ,🤔🧱👍
The ground level on that side is quite high, so fence for now 🙂
I thought new regs were 150mm cavity?
Hi mate they are
