Oh man, When Megan was explaining the pain, my mind went straight to Kidney Stones. Certainly not a fun experience thats for sure. Good to hear that the back is all better now, huge props to Jack for pushing through and driving all the way out of there. All the photos you guys take are incredible!
Thanks mate! It was the worst pain I have ever had can’t believe just after a few days it was just gone doesn’t make sense 😂 was a hard couple hours of driving that’s for sure! Kidney stones was what I was thinking as well. We did manage to get some great photos especially at lake McKenzie!
For future reference there is usually a doctor at Orchid Beach, not too far from where you were camped. If serious enough they will organise a helicopter evac. to mainland.
Hey guys, the ambulance is located at Eurong/cop station near Eurong and is an awesome bloke. Definitely encourage you to see an Exercise Physiologist to get a decent core strengthening and stretching program to prevent it happening again.
I feel your pain Jack. It's happened to me a few times now. The worst pain. We all the way from my spine to toes. Glad you were able to enjoy the rest of K'gari. Such an amazing place
glad youre ok now. my hubby had a kidney stone a couple of weeks ago, we were up the east coast of tassie, he got ambulanced to hobart on morphine. very scarey, he fainted a few times on the bed at the emergency centre and fell onto the floor in Swansea. Take it easy.
Well done I get over there as much as I can when I’m home in Hervey Bay but do caretaking west of longreach most of the year but just had to subscribe cheers guys 👍🍻🇦🇺
Great to hear that you are safe Jack I bet Megan is relieved as well. Thanks for showing us Fraser Island hoping to get there one day soon, Can't wait for the next episode just love watching you guys keep up the great work. 😄😉
I know how you feel mate, I suffer with back pain and sciatic nerve pain as well, been putting up with this for more than 10 years. Take care of your back mate, I also find a good physio helps. I am really enjoying your trips.
I have a very similar issue. A month on the road in a swag was terrifying and I slept with prescribed painkillers under my pillow just in case I woke up unable to move. It's a legitimately terrifying thing. Stay safe and well, everyone! Clay
Great to hear your back is better Jack! I can only imagine how scary that would have been, especially being being on Fraser! Good on you for getting back to it! :)
Great episode guys I've had both Sciatica and Kidney stones. Sciatica is by far the worst. Jack you did a great job going as far as you did. Hope it doesn't come back as mine does every now and then. Take care
Glad you doing Ok Jack. I struggle with similar back issues so know what you experienced. The island looks amazing thanks for sharing hope the journey further is without any major hiccups 😂
I feel that same back pain last week...cannot stand, cannot sit...pain and pain and pain...i rest on the wall then slide againts the wall to sit on the floor the only way i can think at the moment...couldnt even move.....took me a week to really getting better...its scary if you ask me
So glad you have come good Jack what a drama and that line up to get on the ferry just had to be when your in a hurry … Frazer dose look amazing thank you both 🙂
i had that problem before. it is a total beach . i know what u are going through the pain is so unbelievable .. to fix mine i went to a physio all good so far
Jack so glad your back to normal and pain free, the water is looking like a mirror Lake Mekenzy out of this world 4 people is a crowd lol thanks you to for epic episode greetings from south africa
Sorry to hear of the medical emergency mate... Sciatic nerve can be so very painful.. I have never had it (touch wood) but know of others that have,,,, Lucky it wasnt kidney stones or something else of major concern.... Glad you were able to get back to the Dr and then resume your wonderful travels... Love Lake McKenzie.... Take care guys
Aww no that’s the worst. I get a tweak in my lower back often that feels like my back is going to snap from our bed & seats in the van so this makes me nervous it could get much worse 😳 glad to see you got it all sorted out anyway. Other then that Fraser looked like an epic time! Xx
Beautiful footage of Lake McKenzie! The sounds of the rainforest are so beautiful.🌿🌲 A clearing on the side of a track in the middle of the rainforest makes the best picnic spot! 😊
Yeppp those sciatic nerves are tremendous pain. Horribly, I do it quite often and it’ll lay me out for a number of days. At least now you know the pain, heaven forbid if it happens again you can take the anxiety of the unknown out of the equation and just rest it.
Glad ya feeling.better mate. Just so ya know.....ya cant prep or eat food at Lake Mackenzie unless ya in the dingo fenced area. Just a heads up for next time. And so others know and dont get a fine or worse. Loving ya vlogs. Keep up the good content.
Whoa. That's no good, but glad to hear it's all over. Did you have to pay again to get back on K'gari? Or do they allow you to depart, then return on your previous ticket for emergency purposes? And on Lake Mackenzie, where it gets dark, is it due to it getting deeper, or simply caused by natural debris (ie. leaves, grass etc) sitting on the bottom? Loving the vibe of your episodes. You two are so easy to watch. Very real & authentic. Looking forward to the next one. 👌👍
Thanks Hammer 😊 unfortunately we had to pay again 😅 but that’s ok it was all worth it the west side is just spectacular! Yeah thought that would be the reasoning behind the card park of the lake! Thanks for watching mate 👍😊
Back pain is not fun! At least you know what it is now, not knowing is the worst. I was mis-diagnosed with sciatica for years, it turns out some of the bone is damaged/chipped and can knock me out in a similar way, but I now know what activities to avoid. One thing to look at is where Jack keeps his wallet, if in a back pocket, it'll lift one buttock higher than the other and potentially put a strain on the nerve. Strange, but true. Stay safe and keep on trucking.
Glad you're OK, Jack. And still you made video -- I would be too stressed to want to appear on video, but you handled it with style. What's that old saying about "courage = grace under pressure"? You got it! BTW, thanks for showing the west side. We never got there, but now it's on our list
As a long time sufferer of back pain I felt for you in this episode. I recently had sciatica and it was the worst pain I have ever been in. I thought this must be it and our plans to get the Troopy out on the road would have to be cancelled! Anyway, after years of on-and-off bad back pain, seeing a doctor, getting pain killers and muscle relaxing medication, getting better and then a few months or years finding myself on the same treadmill, I finally decided to see a Chiropractor. The short story is that after a month of treatment I can honestly say my back hasn't felt this good in years. And the Chiro has given me exercises to do everyday to maintain a healthy back, which I have now been doing diligently. My suggestion - don't just trust in the meds; see a Chiro as soon as you can.
Happy you are ok Jack, I was in a similar situation with an allergic reaction to midgies staying at Coongul Creek just up the beach from woralie creek camp zone. Lucky we had antibiotics to help me out and not rush to hospital. We were there at the same time as you 😊💙
I put my back injury largely down to alot of hours driving. I ended up having to have surgery on my spine. Dont let it get worse. Trust me it can and will if you let it.
Hey Josh, Yeah mate it’s definitely the driving and years of working in construction… also from all the driving I have stopped building muscle I. The area which may be contributing.
Good leason there. Both people need to be able to do everything that the other normally does. You never know when the other may become incapacitated. Megan needs to practice her 4wding.
Hey Marty, yes we did we mentioned your name the other day when we were driving! We wondered when your name was going to pop up in our notifications. Hope the trip went well!!
Had years of back trouble after the first incident. Didnt get smart until I "Put it Out" time & time again. Chiro was my best friend. Could have avoided a lot of that trouble if I wore a back brace everytime I did some physical work like pulling stakes out of the ground or long periods in bent over position. Understand that once you have stretched sinews in your back, they never return to original [young] position.
Thats always the way when you need to get somewhere in a hurry you get held up, not only the line of cars but the barge also, so glad you got to the doctors and are all good now.. 👍👍👍The best thing is you both didn't give up, and followed your dreams & went back to Fraser lsand You 2 are Legends 👍👍👍 Couldn't stop laughing at jacks comment about the Rogan Josh its Josh's Rogan 🤣🤣🤣 & 4 people's a crowd in the jack and Meaghan household 🤣🤣🤣 Meaghan l would of been the same about the dark water (whats lurking below)😂 Awesome footage/video Keep sending them 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Yep! Miss Frazer heaps but so glad I went there many times before all the clowns turned up! I love Mckenzie & would so like to take my wife there (especially if no one else was there)

Hey Chris! I didn’t take a dip at lake McKenzie. I prefer sitting back and photographing everything, I’ve never really liked the water and quite happy to sit back and enjoy it all from the shore. I do hop in every now and again though and completed that challenge in one of our South Australia vlogs 😉
We were in Broken Hill 12 months ago and same thing happened to me went to hospital they gave me a injection back there 4 hrs later they said they could do no more for me and best thing would be to head home 12 hrs drive away. Packed up van and drove half way home and stayed one night drove all the way myself was the only way i could ease the pain. Got to see my doc next day xray done hospital for a operation 1 week later discharged last xmas eve still having pain when walking in lower back bout leg and butt pain gone
Mate that would have been the worst pain ever!! Spewing that the pain is still there. I’ve always had back problems from multiple quad bike crashes when I was younger so I’m guessing it’s coming back to bite me now as well as working in construction that hasn’t helped either…
yes i share your pain my friend, back problems suck! still a great channel here, what roof top and mattress are you guys running? i find i can only sleep 1 night in my drifta or even a swag because of my back...
You guys should really invest in a Garmin InReach Mini. It wasn't life-threatening this time, but it could be in the future. This is a perfect worldwide "no cell service" emergency communications device to throw in your glove box. You can send interactive SOS texts with location info from any place on the globe (uses the Iridium satellite network). The device is not that expensive (list $349 USD and a $15 USD monthly subscription) -- it will seem like a bargain if you ever need it. You can also send texts to family members to let them where you are and to check on things at home.
Good to know you are OK Jack. My wife Karen has experienced the same so she knows what you went through. Again Megan is the water baby. Guys take care.
Mate iv had kidney stones removed twice . Starts as a dull pain then progressively gets worse. Was originally told I didn't have kidney stones as they said I was too young at the time. However they were wrong. The pain can go away because the stones move . If you get the pain again try to pee. If you can't pretty sure you have them. I recon still get checked for stones especially if it's in your family.
Wow guys. This is our worse fear when we head out remote. You handled it exactly how we think we would. Play it safe and do what your gut says to do. So glad you are feeling better now Jack. Good job guys. Bloody terrifying. Would of been pretty cool on the Chopper though mate 😜😜👌
I take it that you guys aren't with telstra! because the area you indicated has very good phone reception if you are with telstra, but not so good with some of the others. A few years ago, while camped near the entrance road to Ocean Lake ( about 2 kms. north ), we had a member of our crew non-responsive at around 2AM and we had no problem contacting 000. They guided use through what to do and check and made the situation much less stressful. Within an hour an Ambulance arrived and the paramedic was very capable and after about 30 mins was able to transport our mate to the airstrip at Orchid Beach airstrip where a Careflight helicopter had landed with a medical team on board and was waiting to transfer him to Bundaberg Hospital. He pulled through and is alive and well.
Very interesting we had patchy reception on and off but not great! Funny you mention that as lately after upgrading our phones they have had terrible phone reception it’s really noticeable! We are with Telstra as well. Especially Megan’s new iPhone it’s unbelievable how bad it is. We did come into reception pretty quick though as we headed closer to the entrance of that beach. Eurong was the best reception we had on the island.
@@itsJackandMegan That explains a lot. I always look for a phone with the "Telstra Blue Tick" which have the best remote area service. As far as I know iPhones still don't have the Blue Tick. Some phones can be reprogrammed to give more reception / transmission power. I was doing a job once and the customer who had an iPhone, couldn't believe that I could talk anywhere on their place, but they had to go and stand still in one spot to talk. They hadn't long had the phones and had complained several times with no luck. She rang up to organise to return them while still in the satisfaction guarantee period, only to be told they could be reprogrammed. So it may be worth checking. There are some very good signal boosters available now and with the remote places that you two go, it may be a worthwhile investment. Thanks for the great videos.
Very interesting to know thanks for that! Phone booster would be amazing but $1000 plus from the research I’ve done. But in saying that in an emergency it could save a life!
@@itsJackandMegan Yes so true. But you do have to have some phone signal for a booster to work. It is possible to get a land based EPIRB but it should only be used in emergencies. A few years ago I came across an article for a satellite unit that can be connected to a phone and allow you to send and receive text messages anywhere in the world at very reasonable rates if I remember correctly. Or perhaps a mobile satellite dish system.
We just coined a new saying in our van. "As dramatic as Jack and Megan", first the puddle and then this, 😄 But to be honest, I don't think you were overly dramatic in this one, that would of been scary as he'll and you seemed to manage it well, even managing to vlog a bit. Hope the algorithm doesn't punish you for missing a Sunday vid...
Almost as dramatic as home and away 😂😂 it was scary tho and dam it was painful! But all good now 😊 we will see next week how bad the old algorithm hits us! Thanks guys. 😊
@@itsJackandMegan I don't know what Garie, garry of whatever that name was. We all know it as Frazer Island There is one bloke who bushwalks to different areas, and he's gotten into the habit of giving us an aboriginal name to an area, but doesn't give us the English name so we don't know where it is You on the other hand gave us the name we know it as. Thank you
Glad to see you guys made the right decisions with your health, so many choose to ignore it until the helicopter arrives, well done. You might need to get Megan to learn a few deep tissue massage techniques to loosen up the back. Great Vid guys!
When I heard Megan share the pain Jack was experiencing, I imagined kidney stones. I have had the same experience, my advice is to drink more water every day.

Hey guys, the ambulance is located at Eurong/cop station near Eurong and is an awesome bloke. Definitely encourage you to see an Exercise Physiologist to get a decent core strengthening and stretching program to prevent it happening again.
When we were there the car park at McKenzie in June had a huge drop in just driving in

Glad you are all ok
Thinking back to when you guys wanted suggestions of challenges. How many said jack needs to go swimming? Did jack take a dip at lake McKenzie?
Good morning Guys I hate Day light saving Lol, Jack you ned to get to a doctor hope you are ok mate
Yep it messed us up as well 😂
yes i share your pain my friend, back problems suck! still a great channel here, what roof top and mattress are you guys running? i find i can only sleep 1 night in my drifta or even a swag because of my back...
All better now mate 😊 Megan was straight in that water 🤣
Mate iv had kidney stones removed twice . Starts as a dull pain then progressively gets worse. Was originally told I didn't have kidney stones as they said I was too young at the time. However they were wrong. The pain can go away because the stones move . If you get the pain again try to pee. If you can't pretty sure you have them. I recon still get checked for stones especially if it's in your family.
I have severe sciatica mine is on the right side
Wow guys. This is our worse fear when we head out remote.
You handled it exactly how we think we would. Play it safe and do what your gut says to do. So glad you are feeling better now Jack. Good job guys. Bloody terrifying. Would of been pretty cool on the Chopper though mate 😜😜👌
Noice.. looking forward to doin that...
"As dramatic as Jack and Megan", first the puddle and then this, 😄
But to be honest, I don't think you were overly dramatic in this one, that would of been scary as he'll and you seemed to manage it well, even managing to vlog a bit.
Hope the algorithm doesn't punish you for missing a Sunday vid...
Almost as dramatic as home and away 😂😂 it was scary tho and dam it was painful! But all good now 😊 we will see next week how bad the old algorithm hits us! Thanks guys. 😊
My wife suffers from sciatica as well,it's a ongoing thing comes and goes, you are aware there is ambulance service on the island?
just stick to the name we know. Less confusing. Great to hear Jack is OK
Sorry not sure what you mean by that? Yes luckily he’s all good now! ☺️
@@itsJackandMegan I don't know what Garie, garry of whatever that name was. We all know it as Frazer Island
There is one bloke who bushwalks to different areas, and he's gotten into the habit of giving us an aboriginal name to an area, but doesn't give us the English name so we don't know where it is
You on the other hand gave us the name we know it as. Thank you
Are you still doing the photo bord
Do you mean the photos on the door? If so yes but our Polaroid camera broke 😅
As I was watch all I could think of was kidney stones. I had 2 stones a few years ago & it was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced.
Kidney stone 😢😢
Glad to see you guys made the right decisions with your health, so many choose to ignore it until the helicopter arrives, well done. You might need to get Megan to learn a few deep tissue massage techniques to loosen up the back. Great Vid guys!
When I heard Megan share the pain Jack was experiencing, I imagined kidney stones. I have had the same experience, my advice is to drink more water every day.
Oh bugger that suck, can i take a guess it was kidney stones?
Well i was wrong. Good to hear your feeling better
