Ark. Code Ann. § 27-37-305(a) states that every motor vehicle shall be equipped with a rearview mirror.
Even though it may not be illegal to drive without a rearview mirror in your state, the police can still pull you over for driving an unsafe vehicle.

Thanks for the info.
They have 2 rearview mirrors. One on each side. ASP hates the 4th amendment and Americans being secure in their papers, houses, or vehicles. Zig heil
@@Ray56z I believe the exterior mirrors are classified as side mirrors in ar law.
Bullshit if you ask me. But they got to do what they do! Kind of crazy they get searched because of a rear view mirror.
I don't understand people who don't carry their drivers license with them! That's literally what it's for, people!!!
I'm the same way .... I won't go anywhere without my license, health ins. card, and other cards. I've never understood much of what we see in these videoes. My ins Co sends proof of ins cards for ea vehicle. It stays in the glove box with reg. It's all quite simple, and all fits nicely into an envelope. No criticism of those who don't, but I always thought it was a state law to carry it all.
Same here I always have mine with me.
@@ericcarter2020 Arkansas is ranked 47th for education in the nation. Louisiana, Mississippi, and West Virginia are the 3 states below it. Just stating a fact.

Well, that’s 25 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. What a waste of time. Yeah I know, my bad.
Then some innocent barefoot kid goes down the drive to get the mail, and gets A nasty needle in the foot...they should have picked up the broken needles.
they just bend the needle so no liquid can go through even if they straighten it
Why would you give your consent to search? It never goes the way you think. Just say “I do not give my consent to a search.”
In occurrences you don’t see on videos on UA-cam, some officers say okay and don’t search if it’s just a hunch. Waiting on a dog can take an hour too.

Class A drugs sure do decimate a persons looks and age them . Its so sad when people get lost in addiction.
No officer looks this hard. I could be mistaken but I would bet the driver and passenger were tipped off by the same people who tipped off the police.
I hope they don't have anybody breaking needless off in my driveway.
You live in Parkin?
I thought it was strange too. In another video I saw today, one if the officers or medical workers peeled his gloves off and pitched them in the grass near where the wrecked car was sitting. As I understood, there was a driver who had expired .... The medical team had been working with the injured driver, and when finished, he simply peeled the gloves off and gave them a toss. In the state of Ohio, a person wouid likely be charged with littering. I was surprised to see someone in that capacity do it.
As for the breaking off the needle, that one is still hard to believe. Let's say a youngster is barefoot and walks down tge driveway.
I'd think that perhaps a small Sharp's container would be standard issue in the trunk of cruisers ... I realize they're limited on what they can carry, but in isolated cases such as this, ...... Not being critical ... only sharing an opinion.
I agree with you on breaking them there. It should be noted that is most likely state asphalt in right of way and home owners drive starts at gravel, but either way not a good move.
they just bend the needle so no liquid can go through even if they straighten it
I always support our Troppers, but something smells here it has the outside rear view mirrors dose it not.
FL is the same, no rear view mirror they can pull you for it.
Unless you have a van with no windows
Read your drivers handbook.
There was no probable cause to stop this vehicle. Not to mention rummaging thru the vehicle. The passenger was not required to show ID either. Unless she was suspected of a crime which she was not. I would contact an attorney for clear violation of your rights. § 393.80 Rear-vision mirrors. (a) Every bus, truck, and truck tractor shall be equipped with two rear-vision mirrors, one at each side, firmly attached to the outside of the motor vehicle, and so located as to reflect to the driver a view of the highway to the rear, along both sides of the vehicle.

All this for no rear view mirror my god what a waste
Hello from Arizona!! 👋😃❤️
I think they wanted to find some😢on this couple , I kept waiting for the handcuffs to come out, I think sometimes they’re looking for a reason to charge people especially poor people. It makes me angry when they pick on people trying to find something to charge them with, what was the reason for the search ?
If they were black he would have cuffed them !
Small town, they know who the dippers are. I used to work that county.
Why are they searching for a ticket
most stops on this channel are warranted, but this officer is a bit of a goof for his reasoning here.
@@SilverSergeantthey don’t call K9 unless you deny a search or they smell a strong odor of the drug coming from a certain area. Or they already have dogs in the car.
A missing rear view mirror - OK but not a real "priority" crime. Nothing in plain sight or suspicion of DWI but this one went too far. Give him a warning or a ticket and get on with the day.
I agree with the fact that it looks like the official was waiting for the truck. Big daddy going a little over board with people. But I do normally love ASP.
May have been, in a small town you know who most of the dippers are, just wait for pc to pull them over and check them.
How from 300 yards did you see she had no rearview mirror😂
Cop stop me once for no seatbelt, at night. damn eagle eyes I guess
He had 2 different views as they drove past and turned. He is taught to be very observant, he is a cop.
He drove behind him for quite a way.
Ma'am you need too stop your getting older .We do recover.I wish everyone could get clean .😢
When he opens the passenger door at 8:31 you can see the mirror reflect . Maybe it doesn't have a mirror on the windshield , but I didn't think you had to have one if you had side mirrors .
These troopers were either acting on some anonymous phone call to the effect that the occupants of the Ford truck were druggies, or, Trooper Clements was having a bad day.
He seemed intent to find something but just couldn't lay his hands om anything incriminating.
Surprised he didn't call in a women trooper and do a more intimate search off the lady. I thought the couple behaved extremely well in the circumstance.
❤❤❤ WOW, you didn't see Trooper Clement's sitting in the parking lot, as the target vehicle pulled out? That's why NST shows the whole video so you can understand the why's and what's, after that Arkansas law permits a search of the vehicle, No anonymous anything, common sense❤❤❤
@@rikellis7871 I did see the F150 leaving a Dollar General store when the traffic allowed and Trooper Clements immediately tucking in behind it. So pray tell me the what's and where's that I missed.
Side mirrors in place? Couldn't tell if intact or not. This stop strikes me as unreasonable and unnecessary right from the start. I get the missing rearview mirror concern but I question the search attached to this "reason" for the stop. Perhaps a historical grounding at root here, something not being revealed, but viewed as is ... looks and smells like harassment.
I believe that the windshield was also cracked. In my state, both of those items would get you at least a warning. If you don't want to be searched, don't provide the nice officers with "probable cause." But look at the bright side, at least he found the lady's flashlight for her.

The Trooper asked for consent , which was given by the driver as well as the passenger, so everything was on the up and up. They found needles in the vehicle (paraphernalia) which they could have hooked the woman for and they didn't. The driver got fix it tickets for the mirror and the windshield which are non points offenses. I say solid stop all the way around.

stops a car for no rear view mirror, but all the policeman did does not relate rear view mirror.
No rearview mirror does not make sense. I drove a tractor trailer all over the USA for years with 0nly a mirror on each door same as this pickup has.
See, If you pull over, cooperate, and are honest, things go much better than if you run, lie, and resist.
A rear view mirror is a basic element of a safety check on a motor vehicle in Canada and I would expect that to be so elemental as to be the same in the U.S.of A.
We don't even have vehicle inspections in Arkansas. You'll just get pulled over if your driving dirty and an LEO happens to see you.
It’s not. I have a class A license with every endorsement, because I own a trucking company. I have never heard of an interior rear view mirror being mandatory. 18 wheelers don’t even have them.
All of this searching over a broken (missing) rear view mirror? Unbelievable!
What suspicion did he have to do the search. Simple traffic vilation. No need to search. I was a criminal defense attorney for 23 years.. this is a illegal search.
Did you not hear him ask the female for consent and it was given, so what’s the problem Mr lawyer?
WTF? A minor vehicle violation as rear veiw mirrors are attached using an adhesive to bond it to the glass. An adhesive that often fails which is why you can buy a replacement for it in almost every auto parts store should not warrant a search? So what was the real story here? Or does Barney search every single vehicle he stops. What you doing with a handcuff key? "Well officer, your wife likes to get kinky when I come by while you are at work." Syringes? One of them a diabetic? A bag full of Ramen is none of the officers damn business. And he would not have found it if he had not been conducting an illegal search in the first place. Do they raise dogs? So they went fishing but they were not biting. Now go find some crimes officers.
The entire search he conducted was warranted by the driver approving his request to do so. If the driver said no the trooper wouldn’t have searched it as he had no pc. Why wouldn’t he search the truck when he was told he could?
imagine, that floppy mirror fell down and hit the next car which swerved and fishtailed on the road, and next to that car is you with your entire family and children struck by the fish-tailing car and brought all to your death, would you be chatting now? - impossible?

Hi there, I'm Fasil. What does "not of left" mean? I can't tell from the context.
@@fasillimerick7394 They left the dangerous materials lay in the driveway were children could step on them. The bad thing they were trained not to do things such as this. Each and every officer that goes to the law enforcement academy receives training on this.

I see. They should not _have_ left them there. I was stuck on the wording "not of left", which confused me. English is not my native language.
I feel that tug on her shoulder strap at 21:26 is a tell she has something in her bra. Coincides with the supporting troopers observation of her attempting to keep her shirt from falling.
Her demeanor the whole time seemed a bit reserved, soon as she knew they were being cut loose with a warning seemed she perked up.
Doesn't matter, he had NO reason to have her step out for a effin mirror violation ! WTF is the matter with you !
🤦♀🤦♀Someone reported on this couple-------a rearview mirror violation should only be a misdemeanor equipment violation and seriously a stupid reason. More to this story not revealed, but not by NST.
Yea, I am thinking the same thing. He recognized them as someone with a history and fished. The mirror was just a convenient reason for the stop as he walked up the truck. I love how the ASP normally works but this is simply silly. Possible he had a plate reader as well that flagged their NCIC history. I have personally sat in the back of a cop car and listened to my NCIC come back and they listed everyone I had ever been with during a police encounter. I am no thief or addict. I lived in a suburb growing up and smoked weed and all the cops had to do was harass teens for weed. They were so serious about it too. Would have an attached DEA agent/cop come in and ask me where I got the gram of weed I had and shit.
But still reason to stop.

In other states they giving folks needles. They get toe up in Arkansas. 🤠
@@holygeneration7 Do I think it’s okay to destroy needles used for shooting dope? Absolutely ! I’m proud to be from a state that doesn’t hand out drug paraphernalia but instead destroys it.

Those needles should have been disposed of in something with a lid she knows that .SMH
He said to break off the caps means they were new needles . He did not wanr her to use them for drugs. Which is crazy because they are available in most states for free to help prevent transferable deseases with dirty needles.
The cop broke off the needle heads and left them on the ground. He should have disposed of them properly.
rearview mirrors come with the truck, why not leave them there?
First of all it gets so hot in the south they fall off. Secondly, it’s not a law to have to have an interior rear view mirror.
You wouldn’t get away with this in my town
Can anyone enlighten me why a search was done for a simple traffic stop?
Your vehicle has to have the necessary equipment, whether its tires, steering wheel, mirrors etc.
You don’t have to have an interior rear view mirror.
I have a class A license with every endorsement you can possibly obtain because I own a trucking company. I’ve taken every driving test offered in this country. Never have I seen heard or read of an interior rear view mirror being mandatory. 18 wheelers don’t even have them..
Still see no reason to stop them.
Or search.
He'll find a reason..
Busted windshield and no rear view mirror are both dot violations in the state of Arkansas so that was in fact probably cause for the stop.
Man if you have to look that hard, just move on to bigger fish. Both of the persons did exactly how you are suppose to, and everyone went home safe.
Saw them riding in that old truck came up with some BULLSHIT EXCUSE TO STOP THEM
He may have seen the cracked windshield first then when getting close behind them he saw the rearview mirror was gone as well.
What a bunch of crap! Drove a big truck for 15yrs. With no mirror on the windshield. Side mirrors work just fine. In fact, I have a car and pickup that I removed the rear view mirrors from as they have side mirrors. Just have no use for the windshield mirror. This is nothing short of harassment!

Title 27 - Transportation
Subtitle 3 - Motor Vehicles And Their Equipment
Chapter 37 - Equipment Regulations
Sub chapter 3 - Glass and Mirrors
§ 27-37-305. Mirrors
(a) Every motor vehicle shall be equipped with a rear view mirror.
(b) Every motor vehicle which is so constructed or loaded as to obstruct the driver's view to the rear thereof from the driver's position shall be equipped with a mirror located so as to reflect to the driver a view of the highway for a distance of at least two hundred feet (200') to the rear of the vehicle.
So... My question is this. Having see this vehicle is equipped with 2 mirrors that view the rear and can offer the driver a view of 200' behind the vehicle. What was this officers probable cause to stop this vehicle. Can anyone answer this?
Hard to tell but I also think there is a RV mounted on the windshield.

Not sure how a floppy rearview mirror can affect anyone but the people inside of the car that has a floppy rear view mirror. Think your getting rear view mirror and side mirror confused. If your real view mirror falls off it will be in your own lap or floorboard
you do realize the rear view mirror is on the "inside" of the vehicle and if it had fallen off it would have fell either onto the passengers seat or floor. I highly doubt a falling rear view mirror onto the seat or floor will cause the next car driving behind said truck to fishtail and create an accident.
