GSP Trooper Conducts Insane PIT Maneuver On Fleeing Nissan Murano

On April 20, 2021 at approximately 1546 hours, I was patrolling stationary at Whitworth Church Loop and GA 92, when I noticed a silver vehicle traveling west on GA 92 towards Dallas Acworth Hwy, improperly passing, driving over the gore and traveling on the wrong side of the roadway. The silver vehicle almost crashed with another vehicle that was traveling south on a private drive, attempting to make a left turn onto GA 92. I safely waited to make a left turn onto GA 92 to perform a traffic stop. The light was red, and the silver vehicle stopped at the left turning lane. As soon as I approached the vehicle with my blue lights on, I was able to identify the vehicle as a silver Nissan Murano. As the light turned green, the traffic started to move and we both made a left turn onto Dallas Acworth Hwy southbound. The Nissan stopped immediately on a right turning lane that leads to a private drive.
I exited my patrol car to make a first personal contact with the driver. On my first contact with the driver, noticed that he was a young black male. I asked the driver to move his vehicle forward inside the parking lot for two reasons. First, he was blocking the entrance of the private drive, and second the location was not safe due to the high volume of vehicles at the time. I turned around and walked back to my patrol car, when suddenly the driver drove off at a high rated speed. Once inside my patrol car, I started to follow him believing that the driver did not understand my directions and that he was looking for a different location to stop. The situation escalated rapidly when I noticed that the driver was driving at a high rate of speed. At that moment, I called dispatch and advised them of the situation. Shortly after, ti was clear to me that the driver was showing no intentions to stop. Moreover, I noticed the increase of speed and the lack of due care for others. This is when Icalled my dispatch for the second time to inform that Iwas in a vehicle pursuit. The driver showed no sign of slowing down his speed at any moment. During the pursuit, the travel speed was 110 MPH on a 45 MPH speed limit.
The Nissan driver failed to maintain his lane of travel multiple times. As we approached Homestead Dr., the driver of the Nissan was forced to slow his speed to avoid a collision with another
vehicle that was making a left turn onto Dallas Acworth Hwy. I noticed that for a few seconds, there
were not too many vehicles approaching and there was a gore to my left. This is when, in a split
second, I used these facts and decided to perform the Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT). I have
driven many times on Dallas Acworth Hwy, so I know that the next intersection, approximately .5 miles
ahead, (FREY RD and MT TABOR CHURCH RD), is a very busy intersection. It would pose a great
risk to the public, myself and to the Nissan driver to allow him continuing driving this reckless. I
performed the PIT maneuver at this time. During the initial attempt, I noticed a vehicle approaching on
the incoming traffic. At this point, I purposely continued to move my patrol car forward and to the left,
pushing my patrol car and the suspect vehicle off the roadway to the left shoulder to avoid any
secondary collision with the incoming or ongoing traffic.
During this maneuver, my vehicle and the Nissan sideswiped each other, coming to a final rest
on the left side of the road, side by side. I was able to move my vehicle forward enough so I could exit
and focus on the suspect. I drew my assigned pistol and demanded for the suspect to exit his vehicle.
As I opened his door with one hand and the other holding my pistol, I demanded the suspect to lay on
the ground and to put his hands on his back. The suspect complied immediately, I then put my pistol
back in my holster and cuffed the suspect. Once the suspect was safely detained, I walked with him to
the front of my patrol car. Due to the chaotic scenario, drivers on both directions stopped and exited
their vehicles. For my safety and to get the traffic flowing, I demanded that everyone go back to their
vehicles and keep moving. During my investigation with the driver, I asked him the reason he fled. The
driver stated that he chose to flee because he did not have a driver’s license and he did not want to go
to jail.
After the arrival of more officers, I called my dispatch to give the details of what had happened
and requested a tow truck for the suspect vehicle. The driver was identified as JADEN MEKHI
HAMILTON. Mr. Hamilton was transported to Paulding County Jail
by Trooper Rampy.
Note: During my time with Mr. Hamilton, I allowed him to call his mother to come and get all the
groceries that were in his vehicle’s trunk. I asked Mr. Hamilton if his cuffs were too tight, he replied yes.
I loosened the cuffs enough to stop inflicting pain, and offered him water. Mr. Hamilton had a whole
bottle of water provided by me.
Note: Mr. Hamilton also claimed to be a Sovereign Citizen.
