      @@joanlovelace7338 Nothing is funner than seeing someone who knows how to drive know how to avoid the pits first by not letting the cop get alongside them, or if the pit does happen know how to steer out of them. " Well have you pitted him"? Cop... no he stays in front of me and won't let me get on his rear quarter. If you get pitted from the right steer left not allowing you to head for the ditch on the right. The best thing is never to allow the cop to get that close and steady up to pit you if you're really going fast.

Also, ASP release dashcams selectively, to build a reputation and dissuade would-be chancers, but there are chases and standoffs which endure far longer than publishing the videos will allow.

      @@mjsteelersnation Wrong! ASP troopers PIT fleerers as quick as they can wherever they can. They do try to avoid pitting along tree lines but I've seen several ASP pits done in traffic with just a small gap to work with between motorists. They are very efficient and effective at what they do, even on freeways. Why just follow a vehicle for miles and miles (while wasting fuel and resources) if they aren't going to be aggressive and stop it? Might as well just back off and let them go every time. The ASP has it down to an art. Texas & other states need to follow ASP's lead & start learning how to apply the same tactics.

      Mercedes are crap that's why. People waste money on them when they get rich because they think their getting a good car.
      In the 60s and 70s Mercedes were good cars. These days their just very expensive junk.
      If you want to invest in a good car leave the German cars alone. Leave Ferrari alone .
      You want a car that's gonna keep value get a Rolls Royce (still made by actual hands from the ground up. And can only be bought new by special order. And you get to pick everything that goes in the car to suit your needs. Real Wood dash and panelling , real leather hand stitched seats stuffed with real lambs wool. Wool Carpets and mats. ). And their value doesn't go down the second you drive it out the factory or get it delivered.
      And look after them they go forever.
      I have my grandfather who raised me 1965 Silver Ghost. It's still under its lifetime factory warrenty. Last year some jackass threw a rock at the windshield.
      If it was a Mercedes is would have cost me over 1000 US to replace it.
      Not the Rolls... It was picked up by a factory truck at 8 am Monday .(I live in the UK ) and came home with new windshield , free interior exterior clean and detail. FOR FREE. 10 pm same day.
      (Ok I live 3 hrs from the factory.had I lived closer it would have probably been back before dinner time.).
      It's still registered , it's very much road worthy. (Had a full factory ground up restoration in 2017.). Paint looks new , no rust , no dings , no dents no missing parts.
      And it's one of the nicest cars you can drive. And despite its size. It's very easy to handle and park. It's extremely comfortable to sit in . And the back seat you could if need to use it as a bed.
      I have new cars and I love them .
      But my Grandfathers Rolls is the best car to have that will have a good long life a s cause minimal issues.

He was just a little shy to make an attempt which, if he succeeded, would have ended the chase and removed a dangerous driver from the highways and biways. There are several sides to the argument about whether the Police should chase someone fleeing in their car after committing a crime or a driving infraction. The word would quickly circulate in the underground world of people who commit crimes. They will think if you get in your car fast enough you win because they can’t be chased. I think it would still be dangerous because they would try to flee & innocent people could still be hurt or worse. Already many people think it’s ok to load their shopping carts up & leave the store. The mindset is that as dangerous as the suspect is for fleeing why add more potential risk of injury or death to innocent civilians because a hell bent coo is so focused on only one thing, getting his or her suspect in custody over a speeding ticket or stolen car? It’s happened more than once that a cop has killed innocent people because he or she chose to chase someone to ends of the earth over a civil fine and it caused the death of someone’s child or other family member. Would you really be ok with your child getting killed by a cop that had tunnel vision and didn’t see the car coming from another direction before blazing through a red light after his speeder? How would you feel if the officer were family member and he or she got killed chasing after a minor traffic offense? Think about it. No, I’m surely not defending the criminal here but why do we need to chase after every little thing? Now if he’s a murderer, rapist, domestic abuse, armed robber then yes by all means chase but for anything other than DUI no.

    I just had an idea on at least two ways to help out in traffic chases like this one.
    If the police could communicate to a few trucks that could block all of the lanes up ahead when there are concrete barriers on either side of the highway, then that would definitely create an impasse for the perp, especially as traffic behind the chase starts to accumulate from behind.
    Or, the police could radio to an officer ahead further down the highway and just tell them to bring traffic to a complete halt. Obviously this would inconvenience a lot of people, but it would also box in the perp in complete gridlock.
    So why would this work? Because gridlock and concrete barriers would make the perp feel trapped by vehicle and so they would likely bail on foot or give up.
    The only downsides would be if the perp decided to attempt ramming vehicles (which at a near standstill wouldn’t cause as much harm as hitting innocent travelers at speed), or if the timing of the closure / gridlock events allowed for an opening in the concrete barriers that would let the perp continue to flee. Or, if cornered, the perp decided to start shooting at the police and or vehicles in their way. The last downside is unlikely if enough of a gridlock is created because the depth of the vehicular traffic would be too much for them to feel like they could ram or shoot their way out.
    So, through these two tools I think chases like this could be more safely brought to a conclusion by utilizing the highway infrastructure and traffic as confining barriers to the perp, unknowingly trapping them with just a little bit of radio coordination.

    • @ruserious9577
      @ruserious9577 Рік тому +1

      Agree 100%. Been saying that for YEARS! Especially in California, there is no excuse for not doing rolling roadblocks a couple of miles ahead.
      And if just one of those helpful citizens, when it went to single lane with barriers on both sides...if just one would have stopped their car, (blocking the way) got out, and ran...the thing would have ended right there.

    • @-KingOfKhaos
      @-KingOfKhaos Рік тому +1

      It’s called a rolling roadblock… and it’s used extensively in the Northeast as a common way to bring high speed pursuits to a halt safely. While a few officers are in pursuit, several Troopers a few miles ahead will begin to swerve slowly across all lanes of traffic essentially bringing traffic to a grinding halt. It’s extremely effective as it leaves nowhere for the felon to go… shoulders get blocked up as well often times. Off ramps as well.
      18 Wheelers used to get involved but I believe that practice stopped most likely due to insurance carriers not paying out claims if their rigs got involved in any sort of accident due to them helping out.
      But your idea is a good one, and it is used in our region all the time.

    • @rowens208
      @rowens208 Рік тому +1

      Rolling road blocks are not allowed. Police do get ahead and cause gridlocks and deploy stop sticks. That kind of coordination means officers would be making actions on the unpredictability of a pursuit direction. It's not so easy. Intercommunications between agencies is challenging because of different equipment and different policies between assiting departments so they play telephone with each other with 5-10sec delays. At 100mph, 10 seconds is alot. What seems to make sense to everyone isn't always allowed or doable.
