Marking 50 years of operations, Pathfinder Railtours celebrated in style, using Class 40 No.40145 on a trip to Weymouth.
Heading from Burton Upon Trent to Weymouth, the tour would head over several banks during the day and we pick up the action in the Golden Valley on Sapperton bank.
Breaking the silence, the EE 16SVT MKII echoes through the valley, as it charges up the gradient. Tail gunner on this trip would be 47805 'Great Western' and provided some assistance on this climb.
Trundling down to Dorset, we next see the 40 race through Wool and just miss getting bowled by a Waterloo service.
Or last shot of the day would be at the Bincombe tunnels on the 1in50 Upwey bank.
With no assistance from the 47, the load became the equivalent of 14 coaches behind the 40 and we were treated to the full EE chorus, as 40145 heads to the summit.
Great video, and love the way the old 40 wasn't getting any tail end assistance from the 47 up to the tunnel.
Yeah, we were all a bit surprised that it was given the whole load on the bank. Definitely a My LORDZZZZZZ moment
Fantastic sound!
Can't go wrong with a EE Type 4👌
Fanastic sound and sharp footage! What camera/mic combination do you use?
@@finbarholt glad it comes across clearly.
I use a Panasonic HC-X1500 with a Movo VXR100 microphone, in a blimp.
...and on the eighth day, God created the Class 40's and BR Mk 1's....
And he saw that it was good and declared My LORDZZZZZZ...
