Installing Some Steel Gates for two 20 foot openings (part 2)

- The owner supplied the gates and they were really bent so we installed them and straightened then and built a latching system so they wouldn't swing in the wind. After welding the hinges on we dropped the gate in place and filled the posts with concrete and painted them to match the gates. We then restacked the rocks around the gats to finish it all up.
Some tools I used on this project
DEWALT Clamp, 600lb 12-Inch $27.29 amzn.to/3gwRohv
Welding Helmet Large Viewing Screen $99.99 amzn.to/3cGUApI
DEWALT 20V Max XR 5In. Angle Grinder $349.99 amzn.to/3pSyYwe
Miller Multimatic 215 Welder$2,675.00 amzn.to/2Tpi8sv
Multiquip Concrete Mixer, 9 cu. ft. Steel Drum $4,029.99 amzn.to/2SpCfH4
I'll bet the Home Owner is Supper happy with how Awesome those gates turned out!! 😁👍
Oh ya he paid me super fast
How you make the posts?
Do you have a video?
I bought the same gate, and found your install video fantasic as live instructions! Thank you!
Thanks glad it helped
How much was the gate?
I didn't buy it, but it seems like he told me 2k
@@michaelkaylor4779I just paid $1100 for 2
Could you do a review and Or show more of that solar trailer?
Sure, I'd do that, give me a few days to put put it together
@@SolidworksUnlimited awesome! Thank you sir!
Awesome video!! Great work as always!! 🤜🤛
Thank you thank you!
Gates look great 👍👍
Thanks! I had some good help
another Awesome video..
Thanks man
@@SolidworksUnlimited may i ask what is the cost of the gate?..just the gate, not the whole cost..
I didn't buy the gate, homeowners bought it, but he ordered it from China and I think it was around 2500 ish each, not sure the exact amount. They came out of square, took alot longer to install than normal
@@SolidworksUnlimited thanks man..so total is around 5000 ish, that is quite expensive..but you really did a great job squaring them up..
Thank you
Thanks for the video. The gap at the middle seems perfect! I have the same gates that I'm about to install. I'm surprised there was no sag on the gate leaves as they hang from the posts. Or did you account for some sag by installing the posts slightly off vertical? Thank you in advance
They were pretty ridged so I didn't have to compensate for sag
Awesome work! What brand are those gates?
I don't know, the homeowners got them from china
How much did you charge for fabricating and installing it? Foot cost ?
i have exact gates, thanks for vidio!
No problem
Great job... I appreciate your thoroughness!
Thanks Tim
Would love to have seen how you leveled hinges correctly. Bullet hinges are so nice. Used them on my steel smoker doors. Is it common practice to fill posts with concrete?
I used a Lazer to level the hinges, posts sometimes just cap them with steel, but if left open it will rust out.
No adjustment on hinges?
No, I had to weld them on level so the gate wouldn't just swing on its own and the hinges have no adjustment screws
What would one gate cost to install? rought idea thanks.
I didn't buy them, but I think the homeowners at the time paid 2500.00 ish
Are those gates frames made of 1-1/2” or 2” square tubing??? Those are so beautiful!!!!
2 inch
What is the size of the steel beam posts I have these same gates and how deep is it required?
They were 6 inch and we went 3/16 thick and imbeded them 3 feet in welded rebar to them.
Ok spoke to soon. Just spotted him laying around. lol
Ha!
Hi is there a US wholesaler for these gates?
I'm not aware of one. There's lots of custom metalwork shops, though. They can customize you one.
I just bought the same gates! I would like to know where you got the posts at and the sizes of them? Also, where did you get the hinges for the gate that get welded on the post? Thanks for the awesome detail oriented video!
I got the posts at scholzens, local steel store hinges same place. If I remember right they were 1/4" thick steel and 6x6
Why do you pour concrete inside the posts ?, I've never seen this done before.
Makes them much more sturdy and snow and rain won't go down them and rust them out. I would need to cap the posts if I didn't fill them.
What size are the gate posts that you’re attaching the gates to?
6" x 6" x 1/4" I think they were 9 feet long if I remember correctly
What size square tubing did you use? I Recently purchased the same gates.
I think it was 6"wide x 6"wide x1/4" thick and 10' long
This may be a dumb ? But Are the post exactly 20’ apart from measuring inside post to post or are they slightly over 20’ to compensate for the hinges and space in center of gate?
Measure the gates and add for center gap, and hinges and that's the post to post measurement.
Gotcha
Another awesome project? Just wondering where mans best friend is? LOL
Didn't you see her biting the skidsteer bucket? Crazy dog lol
Was this in Texas? Because I’m in ga and I shit you not I think my neighbor bought these recently
Now you are a welder too? I can’t keep up man. 😆 Masonry, carpentry, excavator, welder. Don’t tell me you made the cast for the gates as well. Or I am leaving my wife to come be your apprentice. 😆 Anyway, those gates are looking nice and look to be a bit meticulous on install.
Lol no the only thing that's cast is the latches. 😀
