I would love to see more mash ups! There are so many interesting eras that you could do a little spin on, and it’s a totally unique idea! This dress turned out absolutely stunning and the silhouette is so flattering. Also your meticulous sewing and bubbly energy is (especially during these uncertain times) a joy to watch.

@@BellaMaesDesigns💜 You, dear, are absolutely amazing.🎉 You should be very proud of your 3 Day accomplishment.🏅 I am extremely 🌟impressed🌟 with your speed, skills, design, prep work, planning, and execution. All completed with your handsewing as well as that incredible vintage machine. Bravo❣ 👏👏👏👏👏
🎀This dress is a beautiful mix of both my most favorite fashion eras. You perfectly captured the feminine flair from these time periods. 💟It truly turned out lovely. 🎬You even did Grace Kelly proud modeling it. Gorgeous❣
📹Your overall video production quality is pretty cool too. (🤗Enjoy your hosting abilities -- very informative, candid & sweet!) Is it a family affair? Does someone help you? Or, are you also the maverick behind it all!?
💛👸💛 Looking forward to your future fashion mash-ups, esp. any involving a princess👑. Cheers!

Compliments for two things: The idea of combining the two styles. Loved the design and the fabric. And I admire you for your willpower to see this through. It was not an easy project that you gave yourself. You could have chosen something easy like a circle skirt. I love the final result. You look so cute in that dress.

A challenge is just that: a challenge. You were challenged to make a dress in a day, but you made it in two! Like you said, you now have a beautiful, high quality dress forever!
Personally, I’d rather see you make clothes than do make up! (But historical hairstyles are always welcome!) I would love to see you make an outfit that is “wearable” out and about, but has its roots in some era in history: the Edwardian or Regency or the 50’s, etc. History bounding? ☺️

    • @BellaMaesDesigns
      @BellaMaesDesigns  4 роки тому +14

      Yes, exactly!
Thanks for your opinion; I've had several people ask me to do it. I'm thinking I'll do it, but I won't replace my weekly sewing video (so there will be a double video week coming up!)
I'm definitely planning on doing more of these in the future! ❤️

    • @margotonnotogrambeee

    • @teresacarle294
      @teresacarle294 4 роки тому +2

@@margotonnotogrambeee You coined a delicious new trend❣ From DisneyBounding to HistoryBounding. Perfect! It really does bring history & fashion together in a very innovative way💝.
✂️Seems to give creators a way of honoring the past w/o getting bogged down by following precise period processes or making exact replicas. 💙Love that! 👍Seems like a far more wearable trend too.
🏆Of course, the ability to recreate the look & feel of authentic clothing from "days gone by" with original methods is marvelous, but can also be a truly daunting concept to your average bear🐻. Honestly, this magnificent mash-up is way above my skill & ambition level too. Fall more in the camp that might tweak a thrifted item to fit my tastes or a "look" instead of starting from scratch, but it's a blast to 📺watch these gifted Makers.😉
🌟While Bella Maes dress is wonderfully wearable, I am not convinced all such clothing in this category fits that description. For most of us, there is a distinct line between clothing & costume. The difference between being your authentic you in this present age & feeling like you're playing a part or character🙊.
➡️Being fashion forward & taking style risks in general requires confidence. Wearing "cosplay" items out & about demands serious swag that most ppl do not possess outside of 👻Halloween🤡 & 👽Comic Con👾.
😣 If a person feels awkward in anything--no matter how flattering it fits--chances are that message will also be communicated to others.🐟 Frankly, that often works like blood in the water for sharks too. Any sign of weakness will draw more critical trolls in your sphere too. 👀 Stares & side eyes can be as unnerving as a rude comment. Not good for the faint of heart.😶
💲Nor does everyone have the funds to make/buy or the closet space to store something you might only wear 1-2×s in a year.😂

Dont be bummed about not meeting the one day challenge. Honestly, most one day dresses dont end up looking verygood because steps are rushed/skipped or technique isnt as sharp. So much more satisfying and inspiring to see a well designed and nicely finished garment that is wearable than something held together by pins and fabric glue. And dang...the pleating on the back bodice and skirt is so freakin beautiful, very lovely design and execution. Cant wait for your tutorial on pleating.

Dress in a day seems interesting.
    Pinterest is dangerous.
    That’s pretty fabric.
So do you consider one day being 12 or 24 hours?
Fussy cutting isn’t fun. Finding the right pattern is necessary at times.
That’s a cool machine. I understand the layers. Have fun putting everything together.
The scissors are what work you.
I understand chain stitching. I have a machine that only does that.
    I do things backwards too.
Top stitching makes since for the pleats.
Fork pleats? I’ve never heard of those.
Yes, an under under skirt is necessary. Don’t want to show the assets.
You didn’t finish 24 hours before bed, so I get sleeping.
I prefer sleeves. Cap sleeves are nice.
Thank goodness for magnetic pin cushions.
Oh well. Day three was sleeves. You have to take your time with those.
It’s pretty. Well worth the time to do right.
    Great work!!!

You're the first person I've seen on UA-cam who knows how to tie good bows.
Also, it's a pretty pretty dress. And I think it would be wearable for any day you felt like wearing a dress.
Sorry, I'm a bit like you were when you had to go to bed there at the end of the first dress day.

Well done, the dress is gorgeous. My wedding dress was made from a design of a Grace Kelly dress. It was longer and had 3/4l length sleeves. That was 35 years ago when the fashion was for big meringue poufy dresses and I couldn’t find anything I liked. It cost all of £80 to make. You are very talented. You look beautiful in it. Enjoy it.

While copying an existing garment is a great way to learn, it seems a lot like people singing “covers” today. I miss real artists that made the classics in the first place. So I really like to see you branching out into the creative element of your industry. Very exciting.

That’s interesting you say this...because this is actually totally me! I’ve actually more recent discovered Bernadette (less than a year?) and only watched a handful of her videos (literally). But this is definitely the way I like doing my videos! I guess we must be similar! Thank you! ❤️

The dress turned out beautifully and I think you definitely achieved the aesthetic of 1950s Grace Kelly meets 18th century.
Watching this really brought back memories of when I was in college, and had to make things like 4 evening garments in 3 days (it was an accelerated program so we had short turn arounds). Though I would never want to be under such tight challenges again, I agree with you that you really do learn a lot from them, and it's amazing what you can achieve when you set your mind to it.
