I have done the same with my CD collection years ago. My 600 or so discs (not including a few dozen box sets and digipacs). They now live in 3 litre Really Useful boxes designed to hold 18 cds in jewel cases. Each box now holds around 80 single cds. A real space saver and I can thumb thru them like I used to do with my old lps and 7 inch singles. Ryman sell them and they are stackable and good value for money.
@@JTATTHEMOVIES Enjoyed the video. I think CDs and DVDs and Blue Rays are enjoying a bit of a renaissance now as many people are getting tired of paying for media that comes with strings attached and isn't cheap. Media you can keep and enjoy when ever you want to and only pay for it once is looking like the sensible option now.
I'm thinking of maybe doing the same in the future with movies I might revisit, but not very often 🤔 I've still got plenty of space at the moment, but as you know..... there comes a time!! 🤯🤯🤣🤣 Great space saving idea James 🤩🤩👍👍
Excellent video James and I think this will help others too. It’s a complete difference James. I do remember you saying you were thinking of going for it. Excellent video. The shelves are looking good too. Speak soon.😀👍
Cheers Carl, I’m loving it so far. I don’t reckon I’ll do it with the main collection that I always have on display but for titles that I keep away it’s perfect! Thanks mate
Welcome to the DVD wallet club! I did this a while ago. It's such a space saver. I'm now debating doing it for my Blurays as i've found bluray sized ones...
I started the same as u about 6 yrs ago then to make it simple to find a tiles I place them in alphabetical order using a simple white card which is a comic book stiffener for separation it’s worked out pretty good and a lot easier to find and place them back in order. For the same reason space saver.
I used binders for quite a while. One page had holes for the binder spindles and each page could hold eight discs, four to a side. I put 500 CD'S in a few binders. Easy to find anything, alphabetical. Still have some DVDS in a binder, old movies I haven't watched in years
I have boxes upon boxes of CDs in my basement which is to be converted into the new movie room over the summer. I’ll be putting my CDs in binders when we come to clear out that room. The DVDs I’ve done it with are exactly that, ones I want to keep but haven’t watched in a long while
I have some sympathy for movie collectors - they do take up a lot of space, albeit you can often streamline into box sets for franchises. I am a big collector too, but 90% of my stuff is TV and nowadays you often get a 10-15 hour full season in a standard case. I am currently trying to replace my favourite DVD box sets with more slimline Blu-ray packaging, particularly as some disks are starting to freeze & skip . Good luck with your space saving efforts fella.🇬🇧👍
It's excellent how much space you're saving bud, and it makes sense if it's not stuff that you're watching regularly. I'd definitely talk about your viewing experience as well when it comes to the movie review. Anyways great video JT.
It’s so good AP! It’s unbelievable how much space I’ve got back already and I’ve still loads to do. Cheers for that mate I’m gonna plan a Couple of those reviews and see how I get on. Cheers
the only issue with that and this is just my own opinion is that if i want to watch a specific movie i fell it would take forever to find which one I want cause I cant read the side of the dvd case.
It would infuriate me too if it were the full collection but as it’s overflow stuff I’m just going to alphabetise them and have divider cards. Suppose the size of the collection would make a difference in this style of storage. Cheers for watching
Be careful with those plastic envelopes, because over the years, in the long term, the acid in the plastic will ruin your DVDs. You have to use polypropylene envelopes. They are the only ones free of acid.
Hey James i hope you're keeping well buddy I have had 4 new dvds this week through the post I have got Barton fink do the right thing little nicky and the ringer I have also had 2 new vhs tapes too man on the moon and big momma's house
@@JTATTHEMOVIES thanks I have brought a lot of vhs tapes recently and I always do my dvd and vhs updates on UA-cam and I forgot 1 other dvd I brought this week was the burbs Tom hanks
I too am running out of room but I can't bring myself to take the movies out of their cases and put into sleeves
I have used Case Logic 336 booklets for years! Saves space and keeps the wife happy!!

Those scratch the surface. Try slimline jewel cases.
Not if you put the discs into separate cd sleeves beforehand so that the disc has a bit more protection while inside these cases
@@alexk7467 slimlines are still better

Nice one mate, I haven’t quite got to wanting to do it on blus yet but the DVDs in the drawers are fine to go in wallets for me - cheers for watching
We did that with about 40 percent of our collection.
But year later find myself putting them back in cases.
Fair enough mate, I suppose that is the beauty of doing this. it can be easily reversed if we change our preferences
Cheers

Dvd covers fit perfectly into modern day comic book plastic sheets. Some versions come with a strip of tape at the top. And there's room for the disc.
I went to DVD binders ages ago, ran out of space to keep them in their cases
A great idea on the film views. It would be nice to share the memories.😀👍
Cheers mate, I’ve a few that I want to natter about!
Great space storage idea 💡 JT 👍
Cheers Matt!
Hi, you have a huge collection 🤩. That would be nice to hear your thoughts on a film you watch 😊.
Thanks I will definitely give those videos a try I think
If I flatten the sleeves, how can I read what movie it is?
I try and keep them alphabetical and then flip through them like LPs
Cheers
I’d go witch slim cases before sleeves

A year on, has it been a good move? Where did you purchase your sleeves? Thanks for the video
Yes I have had no complaints so far and I got them on Amazon UK - thank you for watching 😃
Disc rot more likely
Hopefully not! I guess only time will tell
I would call these sleeves
Aye same thing I suppose, they do a great job nonetheless
Hi JT great video ,what size and where can I buy the same type of sleeves ?
Hiya, thanks for watching I’ll share the links soon 😌

Would be annoying trying to find a movie.
I thought that at first but I have them roughly alphabetically so I just look in the A section or the E section etc easy enough then
