- After the previous one with a misaligned front wheel, I picked the replacement and went on my first proper ride on the Niu NQi GTS. It felt great, and I also received my very first two-finger salute! I'm uploading in rapid succession for some time -- a kind of comeback to begin this new chapter of my two-wheeled journey. I got my NQI GTS 45 km version a few weeks back. Really love it. I don have a motor drivers license, which you need in the Netherlands to get the 70 km version. The one I got will do fine for my 30km commute back and forth. Looking forward to some fun rides! 🙂
Awesome! The Netherlands is the home country of my greatest inspiration, @ItchyBoots. She started her 8th Season last weekend, apparently going around the world, on her latest adventure motorcycle.
It's interesting to see the differences on road rules from different countries.
Over in Canada, at least in my province of Québec, 32 km/h is the fastest we can legally ride without a license, and even then the rules were recently made more restrictive, allowing only electric-assisted pedal bikes to be ridden without a license, and they cannot even look like a scooter. (more on that story in some of my previous videos).
Also, in Canada, the NQi model limited to 45 km/h is the NQi Sport. Different brand marketing for different markets, I guess! 😄

I thought I recognized that beard... 😜 On the old (now illegal) UQi+ with the two batteries, I would have been able to make it in 10 hours, the same day.
Without using highways, you are about 158km from me. In theory, this new NQi GTS can range up to 160km, but that is downhill on E-Save mode going slow with no one sitting on it.🤣
Realistically, I can do about 100km, though the last few kilometers would be in E-Save mode (max 30 km/h - a battery-saving feature). So, while I will come visit you to show off, I have to plan a 2-day trip to recharge the batteries overnight while I stay in a motel in Granby (halfway).

So your top speed is around 70 kph ?
Yup! To stay in the 6D scooter class, it has to be max 70kph. Above that, 6A, B, or C is needed, depending on the cc of the engine. I have managed to reach 75kph once of twice. 😃
Since I'm electric, I'm 6D, but the NQi GTS is the equivalent of a 125cc engine.
