Collage papers are my favorite thing to play with on a gel plate. Have some new tissue paper that I need to try. So many ideas and not enough time. LOL Great video Annette!

Lovely lovely creations Annette! You inspired me to buy a small gelli plate😊 I had so much fun experimenting with colors and patterns! Some were beautiful, others not so much......

That's wonderful to hear, Marie. I'm glad you got one and are already enjoying it. It's an ongoing experiment, but as you continue to play and try things, you'll find more confidence in what works and what to stay away from. I'm still learning all the time.

Great tutorial for using the various paper types on the gelli plate. I loved so many of the designs and colors you created. Perfect timing for your video too because I already had the wet strength tissue in my cart on Amazon from last week. Now I’ll purchase it at Joggles and save some money. I’ve been gathering a few household items for my mark making stash of goodies to use on my next gelli plate printing session. I really want to try making a junk journal using the more pretty papers/items/pockets/tags type of method to just be able to put in it whatever I feel like on that day…a no rules type of process. I hope others watching your video will give it a try if they’re new to the process of gelli printing or a bit scared because it’s is just so darn fun and there’s something so creatively freeing about making these prints no matter what the end result is, and you learn more each time you have a play. Thanks so much for the inspiration and your prints came out so beautiful!

Thanks Belinda. It truly is such a pleasure to make gel printed tissue papers and well, everything, for my junk journal. It's an ongoing creative process and that's the beauty of it for sure, and I can tell that you understand and would really enjoy junk journaling. I hope you like the wet-strength tissue when it arrives. Joggles ships quickly so I love buying from them. Thanks for watching again this week and for such an uplifting and wonderful comment!

So pretty! The wrinkles are probably caused by the paper fibers expanding. It makes sense that the wet strength tissue fibers would be stabilized somehow, because that's what causes paper to weaken when it's wet. FWIW, I use regular tissue paper without issues, though it does wrinkle a little when I use Liquitex Basics instead of Golden Fluid. I can usually prevent it by the way I lay the tissue down and I can often smooth them out. It really depends on the brand of the paper.

Here is an option for when you use watercolor/distress ink/things that move with water. While your gel plate is out, add a think layer of gel medium and lay your print with movable product on it to create a seal. This way you can brush over it later with no worries of altering your print.

After tissue paper dries, maybe iron it to get wrinkles out.
