There awesome quads very inexpensive an good power very reliable quads DEPENDING on how the previous owner treated the quad! I've had 6 warrior 350s an the only things I've even had issues with was carrier bearings an sprokets that's it never had any major mechanical issues! There great flip quads aswell!
Maybe dknt buy 300$ warrior and you might like em lol, of course it has issues at that price, i would sens em to the junk yard seeing the state they are in, and thats not the warriors fault its the owners fault.
Fixed up properly, and I'm sure it would be a good quad. Seeing how you usually do things, I don't see it being a good quad.
@@BeStrong-nf5nc true but why would they put the electronics right in the back where the wheels kick up water and dirt? Seems like lazy engineering to me. Plus it doesn't have back up pull start which sucks if battery dies.

The starting issue is the starter clutch, its behind the flywheel. It has like a one way bearing on it and yours is worn out, which make it slip

I've had to replace mine 3 times I figure I'm doing something wrong or just buying cheap Chinese crap but it's only 30 to 40 bucks for a new one maybe cheaper
They are good quads if they are not already shit when you buy them..
They arent that great...

@@2vintage Joe, That was the first quad I learned to ride when I was 6.. So I have not had one in a long time, But mine was a decent machine.. And extremely fast quad to start on.. Went from that to a KX 80 and never looked back at 4 strokes again.

That thing needs a top end bad
The starter motor itself is fine. Its the one way bearing in the starter clutch. When you start it its just slipping instead of grabbing and turning the crank over. Thats why you hear grinding instead of constant compression cycles. I had to put one in my raptor 660. It’s not an expensive part. And also its breaking up pretty bad my buddy just got a brand new carb off ebay for his warrior for $25. If you get those two things done it’ll be golden. Litterally less than 100$ and you wont have to fight starting it anymore and it ll run way better 👍

Warrior starters have a issue we have three and they all do it if you give it too much gas

You just don’t know how to have a little faith I bought a 2004 Yamaha warrior 350 for my first quad months ago and I’ve had nothing but fun and absolutely no issues. Did an oil change, air filter, new chain, sprockets and has never left me stranded!

you can get foam in different thicknesses to re-layer seat little spray glue and good to go.... wont look so uneven
They run forever when taken care of, i seen you posted it up on craugslist for 800$. should be a quick sell. Cleaned up nice. Should use that money to buy a project thats in better shape so you can have a better running machine for more content. Get yourself a clean 400ex, warrior, or a blaster. Super easy to work on and genually super cheap. Glad to see your learning and not still a goober.
I just picked up a 1988 warrior that was sitting for a long time. Got it running but the clutch and shifter aren't really working
I used to have a brand new 2001 Yamaha Warrior pipe jetted intake all that good stuff and that thing rip pretty good had a fmf megamax pipe 2
Thin piece of foam from a craft shop would smooth out the seat before covering it
I wouldn't want to start correctly either if i needed vavle seals, timing chain, piston, rings etc. Good quads if maintained. I put mine through pure hell and the only problem i ever had was carrier bearings.

Lol I have a 2 stroke and when the plug fouls I always for got to put the wire back on and I end up fouling the plug again😂😂

Neutral light is a green wine running along top of the frame on the right side. If you have reverse like mine 1998 it's right by it
As others have stated, it sounds like the one-way clutch is slipping on the starter and not actually turning the engine over with it. It is located behind the flywheel under the stator cover.
i'm going to take off the starter and see what it looks like. Maybe the teeth are stripped. I just haven't had time to work on it.
My warrior I have now has been cutting out at half throttle 3/4 throttle I cleand the carb amrediculas amount of times ugh idk

My 89 warrior sounds just like that when i start it. Takes a minute to start but fires up everytime. If u figure it out let me know.
He will sell it before he find the problem like usual

Sounds like it needs a rebuild. Have you checked compression?
Its pretty damn good work joe dont look bad at all I would buy it if I had the extra cash but I dont at the moment but anyway btw keep up the good work and I know you will sale you did a good job peace out bro and take it easy
U need a starter and starter clutch. Buy those they are fairly cheap and very easy. Don't forget stator cover gasket and flywheel puller
It's got some pretty good plastics on it..you can only do so much,when someone has not taking care of it,cool video keep wrenching..

Battery maintainers do wanders! I bought 2 Stanley's at wally world awhile back. Cheap! I rotate them on my toys that i don't use often. I think Stanley's are 15 bucks at walmart and work flawlessly!
I know im years late to the party.but did you ever figure out why the cranking power is so low?and do i remember you saying that it has a big bore kit?if so could it possibly be the starter not being able to turn that engine over now?
Too me this looks like a super reliable quad. Once the electrical was fixed and you didn't forget to put the spark plug cap on she fires up everytime and rips.
I enjoy watching videos of you getting beat up quads running. It is more interesting.

You dont buy a quad for 100 dollars and expect it to be in the same condition as a quad for 1000 dollars.
Guy who sold it to me said it ran good...He said only issue was starting it.
2vintage havent you been buying and selling bikes for long enough to understand That people lie? And that all of these projects are a gamble. If someone says it just has trouble starting, if the battery is accesable bring a jumper and a multimeter.
You dont complain when you lose on a lottery ticket because you always know there is a risk of losing. And your starter clutch is most Likely the problem

One way bearing is toast
I've bought a 500$ one missing a carb and having a spark issue, took a day of work and never failed on me for 2 years seeing nothing but rev limiter and mud, they are absolute tanks, you just need to tune them up they are old.
starters are $50 on Amazon lol, mine starts so quick you don't even hear the starter whirl. Also, throw an exhaust on that thing they are dogs with the factory pipe, mine really opened up after that.
My warrior did the same thing and I bumped the clutch lever and it worked again

It needs a new set of rings. Hone the cylinder and pop those in it might help the smoking problem.

You've had nothing but issues with it because that specific one is a pos. The yamaha warrior was the flagship model for all sport atv's. It's a legendary four wheeler.
facts ive owned those and 400ex and they are for sure the 2 most reliable sport quads out there

It’s the one way bearing . Get the gear one way bearing and the little bearing that goes on the shaft
You’ve got a problem with the one way bearing in the starter clutch, not the starter itself.
I’ve never heard one turn over like that sounds like one way starter bearing going out
Is that a garden hose being used for a fuel line?
I've had the same warrior for 17 years and never had an issue
They may be reliable but not a great quad...they dont touch a banshee, or trx250r or quadzilla, or anyother sport quad
You know I wonder if you pulled the engine, a xt 500 top end would fit, I like the quad, rebuild it
You should replace that battery with one that holds more amp hours if recommend a 12 volt 10 amp hour they hold more and supply more power shoudp help it spin over better

To be fair, Wisconsin weather and pure neglect will drag any bike down. My warrior had thick rubber boots over all the electrical connections. Wish I lived closer I'd love to give it a home.
I had a 96 warrior just like that i beat on for years never left me stranded, you just gotta know how to properly maintain them and they’ll last forever

Warriors are just heavy and not very good handling either. So next bike you should get is a 400ex or ltz400. You will not get disappointed with them they are amazing bikes that would last forever

Yeah get rid of it. Ive had nothing but problems with them. Always coming thru my shop.
I'm pretty sure u have a air leak or running lean and all the smoke is probably ur piston rings and also the reason for hard to start it's probably at 60psi
Wishing you would have showed the wiring more in depth maybe some other people are having the same issues
