Thanks for sharing, both Brian and Kelly. I heard a saying the other day, "That when a person passes, it is like a library burned down. That all their knowledge went with them. " So thanks to you both, for recording the videos that you do, and sharing your libraries with us.
Awesome fly, Kelly!!! Thanks to Brian for talking about this fly during his visit with Flip Pallot who tied a fly and a discussion of Kelly’s hook was brought up with a reference to this pattern. Thanks again, guys!!
Wow, Kelly tying a fly on video in the summer, the world really has gone off of it's axis. Thanks for snagging Kelly this time of year Brian. Keep the good stuff coming.
Awesome too see the two of you together. I've watched every video from both your libraries, I feel I know you both. Would love to sit there while Kelly ties
Here is a thing that i've been thinking about with checking whats in a fishes stomach. Its not a representation of what a fish WILL eat, but a representation of what they have found to eat. Opportunistic rather than preference. I look in the stomachs of trout here in the Provo River and I've found a ton of little fresh water shrimp, and very very few have worms or leeches in them, BUT when I present both flies to the trout they almost always eat the worm over the shrimp.
My belly bumper story is this, I ordered some flies from MRO one was the belly bumper. It looked good ...took it out first fish was one of my biggest chain pickerel about two pounds over the next 3 hours I caught 3 bass and 8 more chain pickerel. I took that fly to a fly shop and said I need the stuff to make this fly. At that point the fly only hade one eye left and was all torn up. It's one of my favorite flies easily.
After subscribing to both their channels for a while, I worried when I saw that Brian & Kelly were doing a video together. They are each so laconic, I thought this would be the digital equivalent of a silent movie. ;-) Just kidding. Thanks guys. Good one!
@@Madriveroutfitters I googly the name on the back and found their website. A cool organization dedicated to keeping public lands in public hands. I got a new sun hoodie.
Are those hooks available and what would they be called? I looked online and the only hooks I find that look like them are listed as vintage mustard streamer hooks. Would a regular jig hook to the trick?
@@Madriveroutfitters Great tying video, by the way. Thanks for talking Kelly into it. Kelly, himself (on a YT video), introduced me to the Found Link. It's a wicked little dry fly that Kelly invented, inspired by Mercer's Missing Link... but I suspect you know all that 😉. Love your channel and the latest Montana trip videos!
For a while I sitting here watching this guy make this fly then i look at they guy with the hat on and i was trying to figure out why he has a green goatee then he moved and i laughed so hard it was the peacock feathers
Legendary…

Definitely a funny moment. Kelly actually introduced Brian to the Clic glasses many years ago.

They have been close friends since 1990 and always worked closely together. Much more to come!!!

I love the switch sound whenever magnetic glasses are deployed

I always just thought fly fishing was limited to only the rivers in Yellowstone n Montana. Little did I know. Wish I got into the sport 30 yrs ago.
Hang around our channel long enough and you’ll see that’s certainly not the case at all.

Apparently Brian and MRO have done some work with the local chapter here as well.
Could I use polar chenille instead of the dubbing brush on this?
As Kelly states in the video, you can use whatever you want!
