    The addition of sinking polyleaders was also a game changing revolution for me. I remember my first float with a polyleader and articulated flies. I had no idea there were THAT many "trophy" fish in the water I had beaten to death for years. Having some background in warmwater fly and spin, it was so natural.
    Great video folks, as always.

    Three years ago I built my first and only fly rod, and then purchased everything else from MRO. The sinking line with a weightless fly quickly became my preferred way to fish for all reasons mentioned in this video. Thank you!

    My first comment on your channel, even though I watch it almost daily. This edition has been the honey on the hot butter for me as I have definitively been a long leader advocate. I have still to tie some of Kelly's articulated flies (don't seem to see them in the fly shops here in South Africa). Thank you, Brian, Kelly and your team for the invaluable and well presented information you share that takes a decades long obsession of mine on a constant learning curve. Take care, be safe and keep teach us to cut that butter.

    Went streamer fishing for the first time today. It’s very different. Hoping I didn’t break my rod the one time I hit it with my fly! Didn’t see much success, probably because I’m so new to it. But one big brown swiped at my fly and that was very exciting. Not sure how I missed that hook set.

    Thanks for another great video, but one question: why construct the leader from nylon monofilament rather than fluorocarbon? Intuition suggests the faster sinking rate and lower visibility of fluoro would be advantageous.

    Breaking the wrist and dropping the shoulder a little to extend the back cast was something Lefty Krey was big on. Extending the back cast allows for a longer forward cast with more load on the rod.

    I fish a lot in still water these days. When fishing with 2 flies, a dry fly an a nymph, how should the leader be on a 9 ft rod?
    Ps: excuse me for my bad englisch.

    Hi, I fish many different species including steelhead over the years. Have you ever used the product “Teeny” Shooting Line? I use it to shoot my salmon and steelhead flies. If so, do you think it would work well throwing my big trout streamers on my 7 WT rod and using that shooting line and or incorporating it into the butt of my short streamer leaders? The Teeny is very thin and really glides through the guides.

    Im brand new to this. Coming up on 6 months with Kelly's streamer max long in 200 on a 6wt. I feel like I have no problem doing this technique from land or a boat, but the sticky water when im wading... Ughhh. And the fact that its at my feet and has to be zinged out from under me. If anyone has the magic advice, I am absolutely all ears. Thanks in advance.

      @Madriveroutfitters thank you sir. I think my problem is shooting the excess out of the water because it sinks. On land it zips , or from a boat. It just seems like I have to keep pulling it up out of the water and false casting when wading.

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  11 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching. The tippet has to do with the fly....not the line. The butt section has to do with the line. Feel free to call or e-mail Brian at the shop if any questions. He's always happy to help.
