Can’t help but see this as a stove for the ‘matrix living’ people who don’t understand the feeling of having and using the beautiful simplicity of a well made piece of mechanical engineering. Isn’t the concept of a stove to have something that is truly independent and off-grid from ‘the system’. By adding electricity to a stove, isn’t the very essence of what a stove truly is, is lost.
This is a really good point. Stoves for me are a picture of freedom and not being controlled, I’m all for that. However there are some and particularly in more built up areas, or where a stove is primarily a back up and focal point, where these systems certainly have a place. Also for those who want a stove, but aren’t necessarily as interested or capable at running it well, this definitely takes the question marks out of the process.
Out of curiosity, what do you do with test stoves after testing? Do they just go back to the manufacturer? Or are they donated to a retirement home for elderly installers for them to enjoy / raffle? Thanks.
I have in the passed had stoves donated for a giveaway etc, but not recently. Perhaps I need to think of a project to pitch to a manufacturer, that will involve a giveaway. The only problem is I expect they would want an element of competition, as they’ll be trying to garner as much attention as possible. But I’ll put it on my list for sure 👍
Just sat down with a cuppa to watch this ‘Terminator Stove’ 😳 Just lit my stove with my Tortoise matches, lit my Tortoise candles and put a log on with my Tortoise gloves 😂 Good production guys, the music goes well with the video. Kind regards Tony
Great until it goes wrong, won't be cheap to fix and replace that glass. Ash pan is a bit off a joke,, not a real burner... It's like a Tesla .. look good but in reality a waste off money.
Hi, it looks like a nice stove but very complicated, I am going to have a stove fitted been looking at the woodford pankhurst and the woodford Turing 5x do you think these are a good option thanks.
Yea, I had good fun with those. Obviously if you’re burning wood the Pankhurst is the tool for the job. The Turing gives you coal use, as found in the review it is less focused and capable than the Pankhurst with wood.
Reminds me of a pellet stove. We had one of those in our home for about 7 years. We thought it was great. Why would anyone want to burn wood when the machine, and all the sensors can take the guess work out of it? Then, in February of 2012, the control board failed. The stove was inoperable. It was -30 celcius in Canada, and with a new born, I was told "Sorry, it's going to take 2 weeks to get a new one". That following summer, the pellet stove came out, and a wood stove went in. I've yet to see any of its "electronics" fail LOL.
Sounds alright to me. I heard they won their court case? I believe they were fighting to be able to continue making their pre existing models that don’t comply with Eco-Design and they won. Don’t quote me on this, because I’m sure there’s more to it, but I’ve had a couple friends mention something about it.
Can't wait for the light up.

Thanks a lot!
Theres not much to go wrong with a stove, until you fill it full of electronics to go wrong?
😆 I’m interested in what will happen there, but the thing did seem quite well designed, and simple which is pretty key.

Definitely a change of pace, a bit like with Tesla. Time will tell.
Hi I have a HWAM stove with Smart Control which is very similar it connects to the internet and it runs off mains supply.
Interesting. I’d love to try one, when I get the chance.

Wow a computerised stove 😂 we will all be redundant before long. Look forward to seeing how this performs certainly looks the biz 🔥
Why will it be redundant before long ?
@philindiss as in we the operators will be redundant.
I felt a bit like that 😆

Tricky to argue with there. But I do think it’s focused on back up and focal point use.
Perfect example of could not should.
Eco Masonry stove..?
I’d love to one day!
I got a burner as I like to be in charge off it, filling it with fuel when needed. Its a man thing in my eyes. Even though my partner loves it.
It’s definitely not for everyone, but for the less serious users out there, the convenience is lovely.
👀
Not for me, I'll stick with clearview.

Noticed that you never reviewed stoves from soapstone. Try it, and you will never go back.
Yea I’d love to try one when I get the chance!
