Hannah singing "Sweet Caroline" was what got me hooked on the HM Marines Bands channel! Awesome musicians, fantastic vocalists! (Although Hannah is my favourite!)
My wife and I live in the States and absolutely love watching the Royal Marines Band Service on UA-cam! As someone who served in the United States Navy, I just wish our bands were half as good as you all are. Hope to attend one of your concerts in the future.
Don't be so harsh on your US Marines Band. When serving in UK Royal Marines Band I had the 'privilige'(!!) of spending some time at Camp Lejeune back in the 1972 and your band is as good, technically, as our UK bands are; we just perform slightly differently. UK RMB are THE best at 'pomp' whereas your US Marine Bands are better at, how can we say it, 'showmanship'!!! Come and see us by all means but don't put your guys, and gals, down - they, too, are superb in what they do.
@@John_R1 no they are not John. They have not gone through commando training. They are musicians who do basic soldering. There are also no women that have passed Royal Marines training yet. I am an ex marine John. I do have some knowledge on this matter!
@@Nathan.150 they are musicians and great ones at that. They have little to zero soldering skills at all! They are not marines. They are the Royal Marines band!
Hannah, you are a great talent. The harmonies for 'Sweet Caroline' were brilliant and the Marines could do well and put it out as a single, it would go to Number 1, easily, perhaps during the Womens world cup!
Lovely to hear LC Hannah Smither speak about her career in the R. Marines. What abouth the other key members who sing with her. All are ambassadors for our great traditional Military in the UK. God Bless you all
Best days of my life in uniform, joined at 16....just 18 when I went south to the Falklands, did the Gulf, Bosnia and Armilla. I travelled for sure, If you can do it, one life make it count.
Hannah, keep up the fantastic work. Love your rendition of "Gladiator" .. Been watching you, Sam and George for over a year. Fantastic team. Haven't seen George in a while, hope he hasn't moved on. See ya on UA-cam. OBTW I am a 21 year retired US Navy person.
When I served in RMB it was before the time of permitting females to join but what an example young Hannah is to other girls to think about enlisting. Well done to her.
My favourite was seeing Make Your Own Kind of Music. The entire Band was having so much fun. Rather jealous now, just a RAN Naval Brat myself but bands and all types of British Military are so close to my heart. Thank you all for beautiful music.
I saw this year the MfM at the RAH and it was amazing. I love the british traditions and the military bands. Congratulations for such a remarkable Band! Greetings from Germany!
I'm sure this was the young lass that did some vocals on Horse Guards 2022 to the 'Gladiator' theme, quite extraordinary. Hannah has the air of an officer...I sincerely hope she has a long and distinguished career.
You are a lovely lady with a fabulous voice - we saw you at the Albert Hall for the Mountbatten Festival of Music this year it was absolutely brilliant and we shall go again next year.
Interesting. I have great respect for the bands of the royal marines in general. Most of what I have heard is great. Very professional and in many cases it just grab my soul. But not all of it of course. I used to play the piano as a kid. One of my susters play in a band and my other sister sings in a quire. Two of my nephews are professional musicians. So I do feeo a close connection to music. Music affects my soul and state of mind greatly.
I love military bands, and these UK female singers and drumers are faboulus! Great PR for the Brit marines, army, etc. [From Colorado I Played clarinet in wind band music from the 1960s!!! in NYC]
I started playing the Bugle age 9 when I joined the Church Lads Brigade in Sheffield at St Andrews Church, Then The Band Leader Tony Heath helped me buy a Trumpet and my Mum sent me for Music Lessons, I loved marching around the streets on church parade with the band playing on Sunday Church Parade and then I joined the Sea Cadets Band again I loved playing marches. My claim to fame was appearing on the Carol Leviss TV Program Junior Discoveries it was recorded in London and i played Eddie Calvert’s Little Serenade
HMRM band best in the world IMO. Hannah.... love this girl, and the best female voice in the RM - in fact, and with no disrespect for the other girl, I think Hannah would have been a better choice for the "I Vow.." vocal!. However, it's all of these young men and women that make me proud to be British. My Service days are now long gone, so I enjoy listening to, and watching the RM parades and concerts; we show all the rest how to be the best!
