As has been warned for years, the growing power and violence of Haiti's gangs would eventually collapse the country, causing it to fall into the bag of failed states. Indeed, March 2024 certifies this event.
Haitian gangs, fueled by drug money and weapons, have achieved their goal: depose the prime minister, capture the capital and virtually take control of the country. In the face of this situation, plans to stabilize the Caribbean country are already flourishing, but the obstacles are enormous.
How have the gangs managed to deal the decisive blow to the Haitian state, how have they amassed so much power, and is there a solution to the spiral of chaos and violence in which the Caribbean country is immersed?

To be fair, it kind of is. You need to call them out for what they are so that they might improve.
I really hate this trend on the internet that it's okay for rich countries to be called such, but they tend to be lenient with poor countries because they are poor.

Even if someone "intervenes"... its been done before. As long as someone is there to enforce order, there is order. As soon as that intervention ends and, whatever kind of force, leaves, order collapses again.
So whats the point? Sitting on them forever isn't sustainable. Which is what someone would need to do 🤷🏻‍♀️.

As a citizen of a neighboring country, it is my view, based on the historical record of Haiti, NO country's government, military, NGO, or political influence can solve the "Haitian" problem.
The international forces will immediately be subjected to challenges by the local gangs, and I fear it will end badly for all involved.
ONLY HAITIANS can solve Haiti's problems.
The irony is that those people do not want: foreign intervention because it is against the interests of the corrupt oligarchs, politicians, police, and the gangs.
Many neighboring countries are very concerned about spillover within their national borders, due to large illegal Haitians present.
They should start with their Constitution.

I think you got that backwards, the oligarchs though corrupt, we agree there, are ok with corrupt gov. especially if ok'd by the US... it gives them some kind of leverage. What's happened is, they killed the president and under him, most of those gangs were being funded by parts of the government and are still being funded. These aren't "gangs" in the usual sense, these are oligarch and politician mercenaries and private militias... do the search on youtube alone for what's going on in other parts of haiti... regular life, brunches, parties, vacations... what you see on TV is the capital. If outside nations get involved then it will get bloody at the start and will take 20 years of occupation to rebuild the country and steer it in the right direction and only 5 years to unravel all that was done unless the people in Haiti as a whole are ready to improve.

International Intervention in Haiti. Compare that with the USA failed attempts in "nation building" in Iraq and Afghanistan. Military victories are easily accomplished. Nation building is very difficult. The USA succeeded militarily in Iraq and Afghanistan but failed in "nation building". The "nation building" failure falls not on the USA but on Iraq and Afghanistan. The "nation building" success in post WW2 Japan and Germany falls not on the USA but on Japan and Germany. The mindset, value set, culture of the peoples of Japan and Germany were suitable for nation building. The intention of International Intervention in Haiti is nation building. Haiti is currently a failed state. The mindset, value set, culture of the people of Haiti is not yet suitable for nation building. To paraphrase a song by the late Eddy Kendricks: "Haiti, you need a change of mind".
Who wants to intervene in Haiti? The poverty and misery of Haiti is its best defense.
When the USA embargoed Cuba in 1960 about 50,000 haitians (seasonal workers) were marooned. In the 1960's and 1970's Cuba sent revolutionary activists (military, civilian) to Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and Africa. But Castro sent no agents to Haiti. Puzzling, given that there is a large haitian community in Cuba from which to recruit agents. A journalist asked the Cuban Ambassador to the United Nations why no agents were sent to Haiti. Answer: "Who wants to inherit Haiti's problems?"
Yes, there were rumors of a 1966 plan to send 300 people from Cuba to overthrow Duvalier and nothing came about. Duvalier justified the various mass seizures, arrests, killings because of various coup attempts (real and rumored). Duvalier declared himself president for life in 1964.
I am amused by talking heads discussing without end about transition committees, United Nations programs, and other such "democratic" trivialities. The Ancient Greeks had it correct: the machinery of democracy is always too slow to fix a crisis. To fix a crisis the Ancient Greek Elders appoint a tyrant whose orders are followed without question. Key: without question; because questioning (via democratic process) takes too long while the crisis worsens. What are the characteristics of the ideal tyrant? Answer: Reputation for honesty, inegrity, virtue, experience, wisdom, and VIOLENCE; and nationwide respect. The tyrant is chosen from the citizenry; the tyrant cannot be a foreigner. Also: the tyrant is wise enouigh to retreat from power when the crisis is solved away. Usually the tyrant has to exert violence upon those damaging the citizenry. Violence brings about primordial fear and respect is the underlayer of fear. One cannot fear without respect. Fear may foment Resentment and still respect lingers with Resentment. Respect of the capability of the tyrant to eliminate you.
While the pundits, empty talking heads, politicians, intellectuals emitting hot air pollution about Transition Committees and Assorted Plans, Haiti needs to find its Tyrant (in the Ancient Greek meaning), its Cincinnatus. If Haiti can find a Toussaint L'Ouverture (NOT J.J. Dessalines) as tyrant, so much the better.
The pundits say that elections will remedy Haiti's problems. Nope. One will just replace 1 set of bad buys with another set of bad guys. Main problem is institutional corruption. Yes, the first step is to eliminate the current gangs but a full and honest understanding of how and why the gangs came about is needed. Basic rule of Law needs to be established. Really basic. Property Rights connected to proper individual identity. Hernando de Soto, a Peruvian economist, understood that property rights are needed for economic progress. The Clinton Administration had the correct idea to reform the legal system in Haiti but found the records of ownership of land and businesses were very poor and frauds of all kinds were common. Land reform is needed. Proper identification of individuals is needed (with accurate birth and death certificates). For a time, foreign administration of Customs, Post-Office, Ports, and other Government Institutions is needed. Also K-16 curriculum needs to reformed. Unfortunately > 90% of haitian intellectuals are socialists. To paraphrase the philosopher The Joker, Haiti needs an enema.

It’s all of the most powerful gangs in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. There has still been some fighting between G9 and GPep, and is still simmering conflict between other gangs in the coalition. They first formed this coalition in late 2023 but it didn’t even last for 2 weeks.

i don't know where you're getting your information from but a majority of those people who were in the prisons were political prisoners that weren't charged for any crimes and did not go through any due process of the law.
2nd what's going on in Haiti is far more complex. the united states, France, Canada have routinely interfered with Haitian attempts at democracy everytime. They have undermined every effort at progress because if Haitians actually made progress they would have to acknowledge crimes they're not ready to tell the public they committed.

Bring the Powerheads of the Assembled groups/gangs to the Table as well. Listen to their Presentation/ Plans of the Country. Temporary Power could be Established for them to Work certain Areas for 6 months to 2 years if Need be. Also create a Voting process for the Inclusion of the Haitian people and that Transitional Team who the Citizens Voted for do some Positive Justice for the other Regions for again 6 months up to 2 years. Therefore, Inclusion shouldn't be an Issue. Now whoever Spreadsheet plans surpasses the other should and could be the Temporary Transitional Government.
Like Barbecue says, Do Not let outsiders pick and choose because the Negative Cycle will Continue. This is why the Citizens Voices will be heard through the Voting process. It's their Homeland they lives there, also they knows what's Best for Haiti and it's people. These outsiders don't know how and what it feels like to be a Todays Haitian. But the Haitian knows. Foreigners seems to Love watching the Country's Chaos because its in them( Devils) to be Entertained..❤ Haitian people be Strong My Brothers and Sisters.

Barbeque was ordered to get rid of President Jovenel Moise by puppet leaders that work for the countries that are brokering for an invasion now. When he refused, they did a crime scene, blamed him and then put his name as a human rights violator and most wanted criminal. What you see now is the result of his response to what was done to him: he and other officers went rogue.
