Many of you may have the feeling that the political heart of the European project is further infiltrated by foreign agents up to their necks, given all the news that has been emerging in recent months about cases of corruption in the European Parliament.
In this video we shed light on the specific involvement of #Morocco in the whole scheme. What is already known as Moroccogate.

We need to be able to hold lawmakers accountable. I'm sick and tired of politicians being involved in scandal after scandal and getting away with it. This is treasonous bahviour and should be trialed as such.
Corruption happens everywhere. Is where there are no scandals u should be worried about. Having scandals means at least people are getting caught.

It is in the constitution in many countries that politicians and civil servants are immune from prosecution. They know how to protect themselves. Even the "most democratic" countries such as the Netherlands have such statues.

Morocco being one of the main vacation destinations of Europeans mean that it can't be that bad of a place if people go there to relax. And since they made evisas easier it was even possible to visit it with a friend from Thailand. I loved Moroccan and the people there were really kind and helped me when I was lost. EU should recognize West Sahara as part of Morocco. There is no way Polisaro can control that large area, if Morocco would pull out it would become completly lawless

Aside from jokes, EU doesn't have a common foreign policy which means that even if some eu organ issues a statement it doesn't have actual influence to each member state, cause in foreign policy each is 100% sovereign.
As for serious matter: there are a bunch of people living in poor conditions that are either refugees or the descendants of the refugees from western sahara who haven't been able to go back to what is for all intents and purposes their homeland.

The EU has no interest in doing so. Western Sahara is their leverage when dealing with Morocco. The EU doesn't care about those people, human rights violations etc. Many conflicts could be resolved in the wink of an eye, but the sad reality is that it's often preferred to keep the issues alive. The view from here in the US is that the EU is growing increasingly distant from European citizens, and from Brexit to farmer protests, they're responding. This story kind of puts that in context. You can't tell people they have to make sacrifices for the environment or human rights while you feed at the trough.

What Morocco is allegedly doing is something I have always associated with bigger countries (USA, China, Western European countries,...). You never think about it going the other way. Oh well. Que sera, sera.
I'd vote for establishing complete monitoring as a pre-requisite for EU lawmakers. In other words, if you want to be a lawmaker in the EU, you have to agree that all your communications will be monitored 24/7. I'm not saying it should be imposed on them or hidden. No, but you'd have to agree to this if you want the job. If you don't like the idea, then step down. I'm sure there will be people that won't mind offering COMPLETE transparency in exchange for the 10,000 euro monthly salary
Also, before anyone says that it would violate basic human rights, it would only do so if it was hidden or imposed. I'm saying that it should be a requirement for the job. Nobody is forcing you to take the job, but if you want it, you should also agree to the less pleasant terms. Hell, if I earned 10,000 euros per month I'd let them install cameras and microphones in my house. I don't have anything to hide. Though I'd pitty the security employee that would have to watch the footage.
