Hi Rob! Could you make a Video on recommendations for dedicated finger oximeters for spo2 measuring at night in the future?
      Criteria for comparison could be:
      - accuracy
      - stays on at night
      - comfort / form factor
      - price
      - additional features
      - android / iphone app quality

I sort of agree, but if you have sleep apnea you just need to lose weight quit being so fat. Last time I checked it was like 85% of people who had sleep apnea were obese.
I think sleep tracking is one of the most useless things unless you have some kind of mental, psych disorder.

    • @bane2201
      @bane2201 Рік тому +4

@@greuju It's 70%, not 85%. And if you stop breathing 5+ times/hour when you sleep, you'll probably be tired. News flash - when people are very tired, they eat more and exercise less.
For me, it was 50+ times/hour. I lost a lot of weight once it was treated. But I still have sleep apnea, because the structures of the muscles and cranium are major components in sleep apnea severity.

Something I would love to see on your testing of sports watches: a bit more data on the GPS accuracy. You mainly test speed of signal acquisition, and how close the GPS tracks to to actual routes you take.
For me, those don't worry me unless they're dramatically wrong. What I want accurately measured for my running is the correct distance and the correct elevation change. For example, I have two watches I run with all the time: a Huawei Runner GT, and a Suunto Spartan Sport. The Huawei seems to measure those most accurately; I run parkrun every week, on measured 5K courses, and the Huawei is usually very close to it, and the elevation measured matches up pretty well with other people's stats.
By contract, the Suunto is usually slightly low on distance (typically about 2%), but the elevation is terribly wrong, typically by 30 to 70%. I believe it's a software issue rather than hardware, but still, it's so tiring correcting the elevation in Strava every time.

00:58 🔥 Eight Sleep Pod 3 is a top pick for sleep quality improvement, offering independent temperature control and precise sleep stage tracking.
05:52 🌟 Aura Ring 3 stands out as a comprehensive sleep tracker with high accuracy in deep sleep detection, though slightly less accurate in REM sleep.
10:46 ⌚ Whoop Strap 4.0 serves as a versatile fitness tracker with decent heart rate accuracy, suitable for various exercises, but doesn't excel in any specific area.
17:57 🛌 Whoop Strap's sleep tracking is good enough for overall sleep stage estimation, but it might overestimate deep sleep and underestimate awake time for some users.
19:04 🏃‍♂ Whoop Strap is recommended as a top choice for health and sports tracking due to its interpretable data.
19:18 🫀 For precise heart rate tracking, using an ECG chest strap like the Polar H10 is suggested, known for its accuracy in identifying heartbeats.
20:15 📊 Signal quality comparisons between Polar H10 and halter ECG showcase Polar H10's superiority during intense exercises like jogging and strength training, maintaining a significantly higher accuracy.
21:49 🩺 When selecting an ECG monitor, opting for a reputable brand that functions independently, like the Polar H10, is beneficial.
22:18 🚴‍♂ Indoor cycling significantly aided in managing chronic pain, with the Tacx Neo2 highlighted as a reliable option. Standing desks and treadmills under desks are also suggested for a more active work environment.
23:31 🏋‍♂ Having weights at home streamlined workouts and saved time compared to gym visits, emphasizing the convenience of home fitness equipment.
23:46 💊 Recommendations for health supplements like Ule, ag1, and protein powder are shared, emphasizing personal use and not being sponsored.
24:15 💊🦱 The presenter candidly discusses using medications for hair loss prevention, stressing the importance of consulting a doctor due to potential side effects.

Thanks for sharing! Yes , this is what I meant by the controversial issues. However, I do think given the number of men taking this, this is a rather rare side-effect and one needs to balance that against whatever psychological effects you personally experience because of hair loss (as “unimportant “ as this might be, it is a reality that effects many men)

    • @maximilian8339
      @maximilian8339 Рік тому

I used Finasteride for 10 months and developed severe physiological and neurological side-effects that have not subsided after I have stopped taking the medication 15 months ago. This phenomenon is known as "Post-Finasteride Syndrome" and there is a rising number of men affected by it. Why it might be rare, its effects are devastating for the ones affected.
I appreciate that you mention that there is potential for side-effects and that you mention for example the Huberman-podcast about hair loss in which also Post-Finasteride Syndrome is mentioned. However, I am quite disappointed that you use your platform for advertizing Finasteride. I find it odd, that as someone who is usually putting objective data-analysis first, you only speak about your personal experience with these drugs and do not provide any data in regards to the safety of these medications.
As someone who is a big fan of your usual content, I wanted to share that with you.

Around minute 13 you're talking about heart rate measurement with the whoop strap. You call out the fact that some of the details are lost. I think that perhaps some kind of averaging algorithm (perhaps a low pass filter) is being employed by whoop or Strava. I say this because you can also see a slight time lag between the orange line and the cyan colored polar line.

It's still technically interesting, but I'm still stuck on one point: is there a solution for exporting data as it comes in via an api? And prevent the manufacturer from profiting. We buy an expensive product to monitor our health/sports activity... Some manufacturers even go so far as to impose an additional monthly subscription fee, and yet our data, which is the real added value, unilaterally enriches the database of a "third party", which it uses and monetizes, and which provides a great deal of information about our profile... I'm surprised that health monitoring, which is an indirectly a very sensitive point, isn't taken into account more by users... Manufacturers are gorging themselves on data. I find the Channel very interesting, but it seems to me that these points are underestimated.

@@TheQuantifiedScientist - would love to see what you learn. I've been using both for a while (Whoop on and off, Apple Watch consistently). The biggest difference in the data seems to be reflected in my recovery scores. Strain is almost identical. For me, Whoop does a better job (or at least more consistent with Eight Sleep) picking up deep sleep. I'd be happy to share my data or other thoughts if helpful.

    Hey.
Most android users like me are interested in the Pixel watch 2, AND the galaxy watch 6.
Galaxy watch 6 just recived it's 2nd major update, and for me, it has been super accurate in comparison to the fitbit charge 6 on my other arm.
But seeing that your more qualified, I'd highly recommend giving the galaxy watch 6 AND the pixel watch 2 another round of testing.

I'd be interested in a comparison of how well different devices track heart rate when just doing daily activities around the house. I was told to keep an eye out for a really high sustained hr when not doing anything strenuous. I have a polar variety, but it's so focused on workouts that it's not ideal for my needs. It's a shame because it seemed to be such a good balance of price, comfort, and accuracy. It's also small and not on my wrist which makes it ideal for doing messy things with my hands.

Hi Rob. Thanks for the very informative reviews.
One aspect that I notice is not always prevalent is the feature of detecting AFIB. What would be the best devices to capture good overall meteics but also has the ability to detect AFIB?

Apple watch 7+ are very good at sleep tracking per your data. Do you have sleep accuracy data for them when worn on other places such as upper calf muscle where there is much better contact to skin.

Great reviews and awesome scientific tests. I was wondering have you tested some non popular branded watches? In particular I was looking at the Koalahealth Smart watchs. Seems to have more features than the more popular brands. I know some of the health features are not FDA approved, but my main features will be ECG, SPO2 (on demand), heart rate (continuous), Long battery life (there's no time to charge in the morning and evening with sleep feature), Bluetooth calls all a must have features. GPS is a plus. Currently using the Fitbit sense, but no SPO2 when I need it. I have short of breath sometimes, so it's important. Thank you
