To get any decent sound out of these smart devices, the best is to connect them with a cable to an external speaker system. (Not with Bluetooth, because sound quality will go downhill) .Amazon followed Google example to save a few dollars, and now there is no more 3.5 mm audio output connector.I will stay with Gen 4.
if anyone buys it for the sound then I'm going to sell them the Eiffel tower… I hate the way Amazon has made these cheap and what I mean is removing the 3.5 mm plug for speaker out to save a few bucks… That was one of the nicest features is so that you can have an inexpensive but terrific set of computer speakers and get great audio. Cheaper than Bluetooth an excellent way to hook it up. Taking away that 3.5 mm plug I say don't buy it… Find a fourth-generation
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
good/helpful video. -i will point out that you refer to the ac plug(s) as “chargers” -which they are not; neither the 4th or 5th gen echos have an internal battery.
"Hypothetically" is the key word, nobody wants to bother actually programming and testing and reporting on the features. Nowadays a company will sell you a "smart home" product that doesn't function the way you expect. It can set the temperature? How well does it do that. It can detect motion? How well does it do that. This is coming from someone who's been burned too many times by smart junk from google. My Xbox Kinect voice commands worked better than some of this stuff today.
I have the kinect! And I livestream almost everyday testing these products live for over 3 years + how much we use it in real life. In this case, temperature is easy as it was already tested in their smart home sensor.. I'll share a link below. And you can set it temp if you have an alexa enabled thermostat but it won't be based on what's reading on the dot. Motion is a new feature that most will not use but for people like me who love the high tech apps, it's interesting to see where Amazon takes it.
Sound quality.. The JBL pulse 5 will beat the echo 5. Usability other than sound quality, the echo 5 is way better and Alexa will add ai features in the next few weeks & months as of 5/21/23
My 3rd gen just stopped working, I’m going to buy the 5th gen right now Amazon has them at 50% off. Great video
Thank you!
Mine too. Red mute button issue.

Love your "stage presence!" Great review and thanks!

Great pt! They are the AC plugs and no battery including.
I just got the light blue and it's the 5th generation according to Amazon.
Is the wall mount the same for echo 4 and 5? Are they exactly the same size? Thanks
Yes wall mount is the same exact size.
Does echo dot5 support otbr? Does adding thread devices require an additional thread network?

Eu consigo parar o alarme dando um toque em cima da echo dot 4.
Was there an opinion as to which actually sounds better?
The 5th gen sounds better but its marginal. Bass response is improved but voice is about the same.
@@TheFrenchGlow thanks. Planning on buying one to replace a 2016 or so model but only because of listening to music.
I have both. The 4th gen is louder than the 5th. But 5th has better bass.
@@harikrishnanr4808is 4 better for voice and audiobooks?
Both are same
I believe the 4th Generation comes with the Zigbee hub and the 5th Gen does not.
😂a fake macaroni noodle is am impasta😂
