You spoke clearly. Hard to talk about something with such a big impact on us. We cannot see how it has affected you. We are grateful it was not fatal and alive to talk about it.
My son Sean 46 just had a brain aneurysm and stroke that was affected his left side on October 15th and he needs your help with how to recover... he's just got out of Neurology ICU and worried about his recovery journey
My father had one at age 32 or so, in 1978. He had hit his head, not all that hard even, on the doorframe of a car as he was getting in...days later the actual stroke occurred. A congenital AVM (arteriovenous malformation) causing a small aneurism, had partly broken open after hitting his head. A subsequent stroke(s) in 1991 was much more serious and though partly recovered, he died 8 years later after yet another. His own father had had a major one at age 50, though if that was caused by an AVM was unclear, though it involved again, a hemorrhage (in 1967, without MRI, CAT etc brain imaging was limited). So, strokes can indeed happen to young people, though before 50 its quite unusual. Heredity can be involved with some cases, perhaps with mine, though so far I am doing fine even though yes I have a similar type of AVM as my father had, though that wasn't discovered until age 31. I am 43 now, I am careful and regular checkups definitely are not missed lets say. Thanks for sharing your story Kevin Gocke, its a topic that gets little attention unfortunately. Most associate strokes with older age and almost never with those under 40. I hope you were treated well by the EMTs and hospital staff.
Wow Kevin I have had 2 strokes several years ago and in the last 2 years 2 TIA's. And there are supplements that I now take to help prevent this activity from happening again that I think are very helpful! I do not want to appear to be giving medical advice here so feel free to DM me to chat. Best ! 😊👍🙏
Thank God you survived! Thank you for sharing this very painful story. Best to you.
