Between 2018 and 2019, I worked as a medical interpreter. One day, I interpreted a call in which someone my age (I was 26, he was 25) was prescribed a medication for blood pressure, another for cholesterol and another one for blood sugar, if I recall correctly. I was really shocked that someone as young as me had to take so many medications for conditions I always associated with older age. It was a hint for me that food played an important role on my and my family's good health. My parents are 63 and 59, my dad only takes a blood pressure medication, my mom takes none and my grandma, her mom, is about to turn 90 in September. She had to take pills for blood sugar and blood pressure for some time, but her doctors managed to get her off of both with diet.
On a Plant Based Diet Where do you get: Vitamin D3, K2, B12, EPA, DHA, Retinoic Acid, Arachidonic Acid, and Critical Compounds like Taurine, Carnosine and Creatine?
I don't know, 25 years Vegan and I am by far the youngest looking and healthiest of my 5 best college friends I am still in touch with. No contest at all. Seriously I you come from a carnist diet, an just suppress Meat and Fish, it won't do. You just have to get the resources online (and they are many), you will just be much more healthier. Nature has so much variety and is really delicious. Yes there are billions of things to out that are not pastas and rice. Welcome to the journey.
Dean Ornish and Brenda Davis are also good sources of information. I have been vegan - not e enough whole foods vegan - for twenty five years, and, anecdotally of course, my blood pressure is in the 110/65 mmHg ballpark, and my cholesterol rarely goes over 99 mg/dlL.
