moving them at the first sign of roots is just fine. But only if one catch that moment. If you miss and the roots start to get curly extending beyond 1-1.5" length the risk of breaking then increases dramatically. So the next best moment is when there're lots of stronger roots. So either at the very start of the roots, or 1-1.5 months later.
First, my plant lights a fairly strong, so acclimation is minimal. If moving them outside in early spring, they don't need acclimating, as the sun isn't that strong. In the summer, I move them under a tree, where they receive direct morning and evening sun, but avoid the high of the day, for a couple of weeks.
I foliar feed my fig pops after they develop leaves with about 1/4 strength fish emulsion by misting them which works well. Also, I, like you, like for the roots to develop enough to hold the mix together when removing the bag and uppotting. If the pops need more water before I uppot, I snip off the bottom corners of the pop and set it in a 1/4 inch of water so it soaks up from the bottom. Be careful not to get it too wet.

I root mine in sand which drains really well.
Nice outcome with this method. How many hours of light indoor with your grow lights 12 hours or 24?
12-16
Hey Lance, what are your steps/process to acclimating the figs to the sun? How long do you keep them in the sun?

When do you put the pops under light? Do you wait for leaf development or put them under right after bagging them?
I often put them under lights immediately, but also place them on top of the racks for warmth from the lights until they leaf out.

@@bosquebear1 how much fish emulsion per gallon?
@petergraves9006 if the bottle says 1 tablespoon per gallon, I use 1/4 tablespoon per gallon for foliar feeding new plants.
@@bosquebear1 it says two tbs per gallon
Hello what medium do you use in the tree pots when uppotting the figs?
Any reasonable mix will work. There is a popular 5-1-1 fig mix. Figs are actually very forgiving, as long as the soil is well-draining.
