Carb went on the way you guys put it on and it ran pretty damn decent. But... Highway 83 showed me the errors of my ways and flipped the correct way (linkages towards the radiator is the way to go.) Definitely getting the power and throttle response I was hoping for vs the stock Hitachi. Overall great how to video though. Clarified a lot of things I was unsure of like the coolant hose loop and EGR block off plate ( which hole I had to be careful around) can't thank you guys enough and also shout out to highway 83. Happy wheeling Brothas
Nice useful video. I also have 4k carbi installed on my 1986 samurai g13a engine. Runs great. Mine is a factory lwb utility truck. I also own new Jimny. I don't know why Jimmy's weren't sold in the USA, but Samurais were.
I'm working on it, I was going to put this on my other channel "DRCRAWL" I already picked up some other things to tie up this carb. I'll probably post it there once done.
Thanks for the video! This is a great supplement to the instructions provided with the kit and I've watched it several times to confirm I'm removing the proper s\connectors, solenoids and vacuum hoses, as there are plenty of them! I have one question about the vacuum port on the manifold (directly below the carb) that was connected to the charcoal canister - does that get left open? I saw nothing indicating it's supposed to get plugged. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Glad it was helpful! Yeah we plugged it. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. We just went out there an checked. Were in the starting phase of building a carport/shop and I'll be able to get more videos out on this sorta thing.
@@DarylRosenberg01 I'd pluggen mine anyway, just to be safe. I am lucky enough to have a shop and you'll love yours too. Glad to hear you'll have more videos coming!
Ya got me crack'in up when you said Fuel Bowel ... anyhow I'm thinking about this setup, I love my water choke Weber but shitty Fuel mileage. I hate manual chokes but if I get more miles per gallon it might be worth it. I can get a 3k carb for around $50.00 but looks like the CM kit is like $155.00 I have a 1.6 8v
www.certifiedmachine.com/parts-for-samurais They sell the swap kit separately so make sure you get both. You can get the carb off amazon as well but get the swap kit from this place.
Thanks for this. Made my install easy. And I'm most definitely not a "UA-cam Certified Mechanic". Thanks again.
We ended up flipping the carb around. As suggested in the comments. Just thought to let you know.
one of the best 'how-tos' I have seen for a samurai! thanks you guys
Wow, thanks!

This carb swap is so worth it!! I do not miss the Weber at all.
My dad did this swap 2 years ago. I just then got to it. Huge difference for sure. Thanks for the comment
Do you have noticeably more power than before? And is your gas mileage much worse? Just curious as I'm probably going to do this as well
I love the UA-cam Certified mechanic badge.
yeah, it fits

My brother had a jimmy, When he bought it the rear half of the roof was cut off and made a trunk. That thing was a beast
Thanks guys understanding and simple now it's time to put it on.
Turns out I installed mine 180 degrees out. Thanks to a viewer. It does work and I have not changed it. Just thought I'd let you know that.
I did this swap recently: worked great.
Great video, very helpful. Any update on how the Carby is going?

Nice Video Daryl! Two things - (1) why did you put the carb on "backwards? And (2) the Hat was on sideways - crease goes front to back.
It took up more slack from the throttle cable. Not that it makes a noticeable difference.
Dous the carb fit the Jimmy to?
Good question. I think it should as long as its the 1.3 L
Can’t seem to get my afr mixture right on mine.
Send me an email of a 10 sec video of what's going on. I'll see if i cant get you some help.
