  • I bought a Toyota 3K carburetor and a choke cable only. I will try to install it on my Samurai with no adapter kit, will it work?

    I've done far dumber things than missing an Allen key fixation. 😂 But I'd probably have not told anyone - so once again this is why your channel is so good to watch. You encounter everyday problems and find fixes with your build and just go for it. We can definitely identify mate . Awesome it was a bolt on no adapter!

      @@andrebaumbach9447 Yeah I definitely got lucky that it bolted right on. I just came inside from making a thermal spacer out of some old plastic sign. I ordered a throttle cable so I can flip the carb 180° if I want (prob will). That cheapy carb seems pretty good so far. I love having the manual choke too. Its just rigged up so it's functional right now, but even in these crazy temps the Samurai seems to like some choke when cold. So weird.

      @@andrebaumbach9447 Lmfao, nah man that thing is badass. It looked like it was in good shape in your video but if it's anything like mine (and everyone else I've talked to) the more you uncover, the more work you find that needs to be done. Can't tell you how many times I went to do 1 thing and dug in only to find I had to do 2 or 3 other things first. These are so simple it shouldn't be that way but it is. It's prob best to do like you said and strip it all the way down. At least then you know what all you're dealing with and can figure out a game plan where you aren't taking the same thing apart 6 times like my door panels. I've dropped the windshield 3 times, had the hood off 3 or 4 times. Maybe someday if I can do another Samurai I'll know more so that won't happen as much. How's the body work coming along?

      @@FixLife119 hit a big snag as soon as I started in first few of what I thought were minor rust spots ...and basically created some sunlight hole features 😂. I am negotiating with a place to assist with the body whilst I look at doing frame etc . Hopefully will know more this week. Of so will do a big strip of what little trim and fixtures I have on it now

      @@numbskullskills Yeah man sorry I couldn't stay on longer I had to go up to my parents and take my motorhome through emissions. My brother has been staying in it so we had to disconnect a bunch of stuff to get it road ready and take it down there. Big Ford 460ci (7.5L) passes with flying colors, little 1.3L Sammy, nope. Yeah the carb is working good so far. I'm gonna rotate it 180° but I can't do that till the new throttle cable shows up lol.

    I like the Webber myself power is better than the 3k the 3k will not flood out going up steepidh hills.

      @FixLife119  Місяць тому

      I didn't notice any decrease in power going to the 3k, I was kinda worried I would but it seems exactly the same at higher rpms. I did have to come out around 4 or 4.5 turns on the mixture because out of the box it was falling on its face.

    Yeah Webber has little bigger base plate. 3k is exzact fit.with thermal spacer.

      Yes sir, it bolted right on. I'm making a thermal spacer (tomorrow's video) and I'm gonna face it the other direction.

    Hi, check the pcv valve, my was leaking so the mixture was too lean and the engine when cold was rough too

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  Місяць тому

      @@MrKlaad Mine doesn't have the actual valve, it just has some tubing that makes a T out of the valve cover, one side goes to the air cleaner, the other side goes down into the intake manifold. If I use the choke it runs great, then when it's at operating temp it runs great. I just have to get used to this manual choke on this 3k carb. Do you have the factory carb and intake on yours?

      @@FixLife119 I've bought my Sammy with weber 32/36. PCV is the one way valve screwed just in the mainfold.

    • @MrKlaad
      @MrKlaad Місяць тому

      If its opened U get more air from the T connection with the air box, so your mixture gets too lean. Can't add a picture.

      @@MrKlaad Gotcha, I might have that (prob do). That's not where I thought it was but when I searched one online it had threads and I was like hmmmm, I prob do have that. I'll pop it out and check it if it's there. Thanks alot for the comment cuz I didn't even think about the pcv valve. That would be awesome if mine's clogged. It would make sense because with this new carb it runs rough cold but I add a little choke and it smooths out. I thought I might notice a decrease in power with this 3k carb but it feels the same as the Weber 32/36 did. Thanks again!
