The Etruscans are very interesting people, like Rome they had a very high developed culture, religion and city management which lead to their high population. Unfortunately, they were not prepared for the Romans and got conquered. Glad to see that Laith reverted this fate. And as is tradition, every Imperator Rome video from him must have starving people, otherwise its not approved. For reference please watch his other videos. 😄
Main issue was the Etruscans were decentralised while Rome wasn’t. In fact in the game they should have been represented either as separated or have a mechanic for the federative integration. The Romans just had to lead the city against each other while they took them out one by one. And eventually all fell. Had the Etruscans actually responded United to this threat they could have resisted or even beaten ( as they had previously done) Rome.
@@BoretheoryNo? Rome was a city that held control over Latium through the Latin League, but the rest of the 'conquests' were actually just basically forced alliances that would be forced into fighting as auxiliaries for the Romans.
@@saintbread5080 the so called allies also had to pay taxes too on top pf conscription which de facto made them subjects to Roman rule when eventually even local authority fell under Roman jurisdiction. The secret was exactly that: getting all they wanted from their conquests while creating the illusion that the local elite still meant something.
I bought the game just because of the last event to revive the game. I actually had a blast. Played together with some online friends. A brit, a spaniard, a croat, an austrian, a turk and me(Bavarian south of the danube) and technically if Rome were to exist today at its greatest extent we would all have been from the same country.
I wonder if Henry Cavill plays games like these I know he plays the total war video games wouldn't it be fun if he joined the mission to revive this game😅
Counter intuitively, barbarians are actually good. Everytime they sack a settlement they leave 1 tribesman behind. So you trade civilization value for pops. Lowering civ value makes bigger barb stacks for even more pops. It's just free pops.
Honestly this game is soo fun, like especially with indomita (that map expansion to japan). My current challenge is taking a hoard from the east to the west making a pre Mongol Empire
Hey Laith! I have a game suggestion for you to try out, in line with your bent towards strategy and your desire for Carthaginian dominance. Its a game called Dominions 6, and the idea is the world had a single god, the Pantokrator, which ruled everything. Recently, the Pantokrator has disappeared, and pretenders have risen to claim the title of the new Pantokrator. You play as one of these pretenders, leading your chosen nation to glory and Apotheosis. Its heavily based on mythology of many cultures, as well as some slightly more generic fantasy fun times. There are three eras in the game, Early, Middle and Late, each hosting their own cultures and level of technological development (Early has the most magic, but steel is incredibly rare and most still use Bronze, Late has the most technology and the least magic, etc.), and one of the Early Age nations I think you will find very familiar. Berytos is very Carthage-inspired, but with some additional flavor there as well, including lore ties to some of the other factions, like Machaka (African-inspired nation) and Hinnom (Hebrew mythology-inspired nation)! Theres some fun nods to countless little historical and mythological people and events, and you get a lot of customization with your pretender god and the blessings they can grant to your nation, which can do a lot to augment a nation to your playstyle! I think you'd get a kick out of it, its got a ton of depth to it, even if the sprites look a touch dated.
For a good time try stacking starting experience modifiers, combined with levy size modifiers. You can get military traditions at a comical pace just by raising levies and disbanding them after 9 months
Do an Indo-Greek game! I did it as the Seleucids whilst giving away Iranian lands to Parthia as a sort of exile game and it was super fun, can recommend
I had like a 12 hour Imperator session the day before Imperator day (Scythia) and didn't even know this was happening, so I like to think it was all my idea. Time to play more this weekend!! As they say in Rome: tubular!
AI changes tactic to the hardest counter of the last tactic you used, something like this. If is already the best, it will keep it. I might be wrong, that's what I noticed, not that I looked in any code or anything.
The one improvement I'd like to see for this game especially as well as the other Paradox games (CK3) is a change to the cat and mouse style of chasing armies around the map. I get that the AI is programmed to preserve the military but I think defenders should get a big buff and suffer less attrition (unless they're in the desert or something) when they're stationed in a territory for an extended amount of time to reflect how armies would naturally prepare defenses and live off the land in those times. I really love the fort system in the Total War games where you can just pop one up if it's a strategically important area and I feel the same could be done here to an extent. Let me know what you guys think.
Yk what, if it goes on sale again might nab it. Would just get it off CDKeys now but guessing the revival efforts have taken out their stock so yk. I genuinely do like to watch this game although content never really seemed to settle too much on what to show as it kinda has in EU4 etc. Lotta potential in the game, needs revival.

I’ve been an active player of this game since it came out and my birthday is March 14th so I’ve taken this as my sign that I might get an update for this game 😂
Laith, weird question but what game from Paradox Interactive do you think is the most mentally draining game, like what gets more boring, repetitive, exhausting, difficult, etc?

The ptolemeis not taking their job seriously is pretty in character.
I'm sure they were partying instead.
Love seeing Imperator Rome content, I'm gonna leave my PC running all 48 hours on the weekend with Imperator in the background!

Thats actually a funny thought
I'm going to buy Imperator Rome because of this video, you hear that Paradox! As soon as it's on sale again though lol I missed the last one
Imperator Rome is my favorite paradox game and you’ve become my favorite now for your continued efforts to revive it.
This game is like Rome itself: Eternal.
Thank you Laith, and thank you Invictus mods!
Highly recommend invictus + the invictus total mechanical overhaul mod. Adds some great stuff, but never see anyone playing with it :(
Good initiative, i never stop playing Rome Imperator it was always one of my favorite game.
Remember when every youtuber was playing March of the Eagles, I'm getting flashbacks to that right now.
