I like how the Dynamic Duo tackled the job. Some great extra info specific to the installation ( fuses and wire colors). Soldering only way to go. Looking forward to hearing that subwoofer pumpin' out the tunes.
Thanks Rusty we have gotten lots of question about this install on the Jeep Wrangler Altitude. So I tried to cover all of those questions.
Awesome video. I followed the instructions to install my kicker hideaway on the tailgate and it worked great! Your tips and color codes for the speaker wires saved the day. Thanks for posting the video!
Outstanding John!!!! So glad it worked out!. That little Kicker is a BIG upgrade if you ask me. We love it and it fits perfectly :)
yes it helps thank you. I have a JKU and installed the kicker hideaway yesterday. it was cutting in and out so I hooked up the turn on lead. works great now. I must have the speaker wires (+) (-) wrong. in will re check the color code again. thank you so much. you guys are awesome, love your vids. happy New year.
+TheK7gixxer outstanding. Glad it all worked out. Thanks so much. Here's to season 3, Wahoooo.
Very nice, Exactly what I did to a 2016 JK. Also replaced all the components with some Polk Audio speakers and powered them with a digital amp that fit behind the dash. Awesome audio and completely hidden. I live in the hood so it’s nice I don’t have to worry about people unzipping my windows
Nice, Love those little digital amps. Installed one in the Jeep TJ Works perfectly behind the dash too :)
I have the same upgrade in my Ram 1500 single cab 4X4. Kenwood Android Auto (same model), Kicker Hideaway, upgraded Alpine 6X9s in the doors and behind the seats and (2) JBL 3 1/2 tweeters with base blockers in the dash. The sound is amazing and the Android Auto in indispensable.
Oh nice. See now Im going to have to look into those JBL Tweeters ha :)
This video was really helpful. I mounted mine under passenger seat and tapped the wires by the passenger door instead. It worked out well. Thanks!
Hey thanks so much Kris. So glad it helped. That's a great location and it fits nicely. We contemplated that location on two different installations. :)
you forgot one thing ... what does it sound like?!
Haha great point. Sounds awesome. Great value for the money that's for sure 👍
Can you hear the bass outside the vehicle?
Love the information. I have a 2020. And I am going to install this in mine
Thanks a bunch, Keep us posted.
Put a 12" JL Audio 12w3-V3 in a small down firing ported subwoofer box with a JL Audio JX 500/1 and it absolutely CRUSHES sound pressure in my Ford Bronco, which is similar to your Jeep. And I save a lot of space with the custom built down fire ported sub box.
Nice, sounds like a slick setup:)
Great video. I have the factory sub it works cause I don't have a lot of trunk space with it being the 2door.
+The Bearded Jeeper nice. The factory sub does sound pretty good too :)
War Eagle! That's a nice jacket you're wearing at the beginning of this video! Thank you for posting a great instructional video.
Thanks a bunch.
I love the way you do these vids, dude. I'd never do this myself, but your videos make me feel like I could. So easy to understand.
+Colin Bloodworth thanks so much Colin. Hope they help others for sure. Honestly we don't know what we are doing half the time ha
Great video - could not get power to the Blue/Red wire, so I just wired directly to the battery. Very simple install. Way louder than I expected. 2017 SAHARA
Hey that works too had. Pretty impressive speaker for sure. Great job.

I came for the sound test, suppose to be the most important part of this video.
Totally understand. Audio tests don't really come across well on videos. Sorry about that.
I always thought Jeeps look cool. Now after your upgrade, it'll sound cool too. Good job guys! 👍
+DaxM haha thanks bro
You think that's cold it's got down to -4 tonight now that's cold. It was so cold this morning their was frost on the car windscreen. great video so many wires i would know where to start.
+Vlog From The Bog - 4 o No bro not for me haha.
Thank you! I've been looking for something that fits in this hole! My parents have a rubicon jku with premium audio, my willys jku has base sound and is severely lacking in the bass department. I've opted for a rockford fosgate ps8 over the kicker but this video confirmed it will fit!
+Derk Bradley nice keep us posted on the fosgate I'm with you pretty positive it will fit. I believe their is even a smaller alpine that will fit as well. Again keep us posted would love to hear the results.
Bubbas Garage Vlogs I finally got around to installing the fosgate ps-8 fits like a glove great sound and you can't even tell it's there when you look in.
+Derk Bradley O nice out standing. I'll have to check that one out for sure.
Derk Bradley how do you like the Rockford Fosgate. I'm trying to decide between the two. How much heat does it generate with the area covered?
Rich Ware ive had no issues with heat at all. Granted summers here are only in the 80s
I've watched video a dozen times. I just can't believe that 16 gauge power wire in back is sufficient when the kit comes with a 10 gauge power wire.
+Tracy Bachtell you know that's a great question. I too question that when we did the Altitude. Decided to go with this and see what happens. I checked the wires constantly on long road trips never seem to be an issue so we decided to go the same route on the Jeep Black Bear and so far all has been well. No issues at all. But that's just what we did you know dosent mean it's the best or the right way by no means.
This is ridiculously stupid. You SHOULD NOT run smaller wire. The amp requires current to work. Have you ever tried to drink a milkshake through a stirring straw? it will work at low volume- (Low power draw). This is the same reasoning you don't try to run heavy draw electrical devices on long thin extension cords. The fuse needs to be sized right to protect the wire. The device can draw more power than the wire can provide. in theory the fuse should blow. Sometimes idiots will put bigger fuses in.. so the wire will heat up, because you are pulling more current through than the wire can handle. in extreme instances, a nice little fire can break out. THE BEST rule of thumb... run as big of wire as the device comes with. If you are going very far with the wire, you might step up a size wire.
I listened to you and bought the kicker speakers and today, the kicker sub!
+lastcall170 Did you get the speakers installed? If so how did ya like em. We are still running the same setup on the Black Bear. They gave all held up well.
I also installed a powered subwoofer on my JK, but i decided to run separate power cable and also run a remote cable the head unit to the sub, I think it is safer than tapping into the wire harness, as you will have two 15Amp fuses one close the battery and another before the Sub. Also instead of using the speaker cables, I used the RCA from the Subwoofer output from the head-unit. This allow you to control and adjust the bass level from the headunit totally independent from the speakers, with your method if you adjust the speaker bass it will affect the woofer, the only way to make Sub independent is if you use the remote provided with the sub. The RCA and new power cable simplifies the process from 4 hours to 1 or 2.
Sounds like a sweet install. We too ran the remote on this one latter when we added the aftermarket radio. Never really swapped over the power or RCA's Been running this setup in the black bear now for a couple of years now.
Bubba, I installed the Kicker Hideaway using the 12.4 volt rear power supply. After 3 days decided to run the power to the battery where the alternator generates 14.4 volts. The sub woofer output is significantly better. That tells me this unit has an unregulated amplifier. Curious what you think. You might want to try it.
+Tracy Bachtell wow Tracy great information. Not sure what think about but you definitely got my wheels turning. Interesting. Heck might run a new wire to it on the black bear ha.
Bubba, I love watching your Videos!
Hey thanks a bunch Todd!!!
GENIUS idea by placing the kicker in that "storage" area! My kicker is coming in the mail today and i've been debating on where to put it... under the passenger seat, back seat... I don't want to drill into the body of the jeep so this is the perfect solution!! Am curious to know how you keep it from sliding around though.
Hi Aimee, We were in the same boat sure didn't want to drill holes and didn't want it causing the passenger discomfort. We did a lot of research before going with this one. It fits really well. It actually has some weight behind it. It has never moved. Now keep in mind we don't rock crawl these Jeeps we do a lot of overlanding but nothing too extreme. Keep us posted on your install for sure. :)
@@BubbasgarageTv Decided to mount it on the tailgate. Although it's a bit more visible, i'm not overly worried about someone stealing it. One thing I'm not sure about though is the wiring. There are 8 wires on the stock subwoofer adapter. Did you use all 8? Or just 4 of the speaker wires? I believe the other 4 wires are tweeter wires? Can they just be capped off?
@@aimeeolmstead9354 nice, I think we actually only used the 4 wires is all.
@@BubbasgarageTv Awesome! Thanks for the help :)
nice and informative but it would have been. great to hear it.
Is there an English translation of this video? LOL....Nice work and very helpful for those looking to do this themselves.
hahah thanks my friend. We have been getting lots of questions about this upgrade on my Altitude it was only fitting to do it on Bobbies Black Bear in hopes to better explain ha.
You guys are too cute! Definitely cold in az right now!
:) Cold, Cold go away please ;) ha
Looks good
I just ordered the Kenwood KCS-SW11. I am wondering if it will work in that location as well. Great video. Thanks for posting the kick pane wire location.
Your very welcome. i would need to look at the specs to compare them we havent installed the KCS-SW11 at all. if you do please let us know how it works out would love to hear about it.
you guys didnt want to get an OEM sub to see how it would sound?
This route was more cost effective at the time and still works great 👍
I went big with a 15" zv5 sundown subwoofer. Two CAB 1600 amps. I thought by your tone and suggestions that people can really make this harder than it is. It's true. I learn everything from people like you. I have the whole install on my channel if you're interested and I could use some opinion too.
+Asm ByJK wow now that's impressive I'll so have to check it out for sure. Might be over my head but I wouldn't have it any other way ha
Just check out your videos. Thats a pretty slick build.
Great video man! Super helpful and a ton of good information provided. I have a few questions I hope you can answer for me. 1: What made you out the sub upside down? 2: Did you run the remote up to the front of the vehicle with the black cord? 3: If so where did you mount it? Thanks👍🏼
Hi Blake thanks so much for your feed back and awesome questions. 1-Mainly because it fit better. Our first two installs we didn't use the remote wire at all. We just flipped the switch for auto turn on option. Now when we did the Android auto installs we did run the remote to the new deck.
Hope this helps.
Bubbas Garage Vlogs . Thanks for the response. I'm installing mine this week.
+Blake Niemi absolutely. So awesome keep us posted let us know your thoughts for surem
Where did you ground the sub?
To the tie down bolts. So far it's worked out well. Hope this helps.
Where did you connect the blue “remote wire” connect?
Using the factory radio we did not attach the remote for the sub. We used the voltage sensing switch on the sub for it to turn on. It worked out great. Now when we upgraded to Android Audio we did run the remote to the head unit. Hope that helps
When you spliced into the power on the rear wires for the subwoofer, did you have to connect the remote turn on wire to the head unit? Or can you just bypass that due to the M7 fuse? Thanks!
The sub has a switch on it to use the remote or to 12v sensing. We used the 12v on this install. When we added android auto we added the remote turn on wire. Hope this helps.
That wire is NOT ENOUGH for that system. Just because it works doesn’t mean your not leaving a lot of potential on the table. In other words it would run a lot better with properly sized wire. Whatever you do don’t listen to this stupid guy.
It's the same size wire that came with the system. But your absolutely correct. We are no pros that's for sure.
Thank you dear for the nice very informative video. I did the installation today with alpine pwe s8 but i didn't get power to it. Do you happen to know why i wasn't getting power? I switched the m7 fuse back and forth but no luck. I checked my wiring plenty of times... Your videos are highly appreciated
+Abdulrehman Almozail absolutely, glad it helps as far as power I would assume you using the wrong wires in the rear of the jeep but again I'm no pro. We do the best we can with what we have. Hope that helps.
Did yours came with the power outlet in the back from the factory?? if it didnt chances are that you are missing a section of the wire harness. Imagine the middle section that connects those wires in the back to the fuse in the box. Some Wranglers mostly the one with no power outlet option and early models have the harness in the back but not power no matter how you set up the fuse you are still missing some part of the cable. Check Wranglerforums.com there are several post about it
Ivan Shabelev I have the same problem. Has the harness for the OEM sub but when I plug it in I get no power. I tried forums but can’t find it anywhere u have any idea what I would need to buy?
the wires you used were meant for the factory sub? so if i have the premium sound system in my 2010 JK, i just splice into the speaker wires going to the existing factory sub? thx so much for the video!!
That they are. Be sure to check them before splicing into them for sure.
Can you power this by hooking up the blue to a fuse that gets power when ignition is turned on.. and use rca output from an aftermarket deck... what else will i need to install or hook up..
You sure can. We did this when upgrading to the DDX9706 head unit. Would just need the RCA cables the head unit and the kicker Hideaway come with everything else you need. Unless you want to run your own power wires to the hideaway.
the blue and black wire in the back that your using for power, is the black the ground?
Honestly, it has been a while. Ill have to go back and double check the colors to be sure. Keep in mind that the wire colors could very vehicle to vehicle.
Where can I find the instructions on connecting it, just got the same one appreciate it in advance
Crutchfield has the manual online if it helps. www.crutchfield.com/p_20611HS8/Kicker-11HS8.html
Imagine having 1 on every door
haha SWEET!
May have missed it in your video or comments but how does it sound with the top off? We installed two 10's in our JK only because we already had the subs in a box but would like a stealthier sub in the future so it doesn't attract attention from thieves.
Honestly that is a good question haven't taken the top off but since its low base I wouldn't suspect it would be too bad but im not sure to be honest. I just might have to test that.
Huh. Wonder how it sounds.
Sound Great! Kicker upgrade kit giveaway for the JK coming soon :)
Why didn't you just mount it under one of the front seats instead of running it all the way to the trunk?
Great question, mainly because I didnt want to vibrations in the seat is all, 2nd when I found that all the wiring was already in the truck it just needed to be wired in.
Also the seats will not fold down
why do you have to scotchlock the sound bar speaker wires to the sub speaker wires? couldn't you just tap into the sub speaker wires? aren't they hooked up to the radio?
Great question. They are not hooked up to the radio. In this case the harness that would run from the radio to the kick panel does not include the sub lines because the vehicle did not come with premium audio. You can check those wires in the kick panel to be certain. Hope that helps.
Thanks for your response! ...and thanks for the video. Should make this real easy!
Your very welcome. We have done this a couple of times now. Let us know if we can help.
@@BubbasgarageTv , it was just as easy as you made it look! Only trouble was determining colors on those small wires! lol My eyes aren't what they used to be!
Gotta ask... What is the sound quality like with it placed upside down and in the compartment? I have a 2016 JKU Sahara and would love to add a sub without losing functional storage space! Already doing the Kicker speaker bar upgrade... May as well stick with the brand.
That's a great question. The deepness of the bass seemed to be the same regardless if I had the sub in the compartment or not. With that said I did turn down the controls of the amp tho because this thing does a pretty good job of hitting for a small speaker. I bet that with the amp turned all the way up Bass and Bass Boost I bet it would start to raddled pretty fast upside down. To be honest tho I have it in two jeeps same location one factory radio the other aftermarket and I am very please with how well it compliments the system. Its not gonna blow your doors off but for the size and ability to stow it I believe its a perfect fit. Hope this helps some and please keep us posted would love to hear how it all works out for you.
Why upside down? Just for better fitment?
Right mainly for fitment. Still has room under it.
great video. did you use the amp turn on wire or just use the speaker wire for the signal? if so where did you wire it to? thanks
+TheK7gixxer when we installed it we used the speaker wire for the signal worked out great. Then we added the Kenwood ddx9703s Android Auto head unit and ran the remote for it. Hope this helps.
TheK7gixxer d
I got that the soundbar wires are lt grey/lt green, lt grey/dk green; dk green/lt grey stripe, dk green/lt green stripe
which wires are you using that run all the way to the back of the jeep for signal?
and which connects to which? I would appreciate any input, i'm a noob to this stuff :)
Hi Josue, As we did in this video we tapped into the wires at the passenger foot well. By doing this we didnt have to run our own wires as the wires are already ran to the cargo area.
Pay close attention to the section at 5:48. This is where we spliced into the rear wiring harness. Hope that helps.
Did you scotchloc both sound bar speakers to the rear wires?
Sure did.
Why did you mount with speaker facing down?
Honestly we tested the speaker both ways facing up and facing down. The power on the speaker was set so low that turning it up or down had no impact so we decided to place it down mainly for fitment. hope this helps.
Which wire did you tap into for the speaker wire in the back?
@ 5:49 earlier in the video under the front passenger kick panel I added scotch locks and jumper the audio wires to the rear wires. Mainly because with out the factory premium audio those wires do nothing in the back.
Did you use the blue wire for the power and the remote turn on or did you run a seperate to battery for power?
On this install we did not. The Sub has a sensitive switch that kicks it on when it detects audio. Hope this helps.
@@BubbasgarageTv So you just hooked up the blue wire to the red on the Kicker and didn't connect the blue wire on the amp at all?
What did you run the remote wire to?
No remote needed for this setup. The subwoofer as a sensitivity switch on it to detect audio.
I have a 2011 jk (2 door), and I got this hideaway speaker. How would I need to wire it to the radio? (It is a stock radio)
Hi Tristan. The stock radio will not have RCA Outputs you will need to find out which wires goto the speakers and run those to the hideaway.
Bubbas Garage Vlogs hey! I got an adapter for my radio, I wired everything in and within 30 min after installing everything my sub, ( I think) busted.... I can’t tell you how upset I got. (The sub sounds like there is a metal nut bouncing up and down from the speaker to the box.... any idea what it is? Let alone how to fix it??)
would it fit on a JK 2 doors? like under the sit..any suggestion?
It will fit under the seat for sure. Alpine also makes one that will fit as well. Hope this helps.
It wont fit, I have the Alpine and there is a bar under the seat that wont let you set it, One way will be by trying removing the seat and installing it under the driver seat so once that you re-install the seat the bar will be behind the woofer, but keep in mind that you wont be able to move the seat forward to get access to the back, people normally dont get in thru the driver side but if you need to reach for a bag or something in the back then you wont be able to do it. I have mine in the trunk as well attached to the carpet with heavy duty velcro, If i need to put things in the back I can either disconnect it, or I can put it on the cubbie.
I know in the video you said it worked fine off that blue wire. Question for you. Did you try to wire it to the batter with the bigger wire to see if it performs better. Basically a comparison. Also does it heat up differently?
+Joseph Tewksbury that's a great question Joseph we didn't test that at all. Maybe we can look at testing this scenario out..
Bubbas Garage Vlogs im just wondering because im looking into getting possibly 2-3 of these powered amps in the 2017 dodge journey crossroad plus in basically the same place as you in the wranglers. so im watchimg videos of others experiences with this and your idea is closest to mine. i just wonder if i could get off with an 8 gauge or smaller for 3 of these which come with 12 gauge wire if im recalling correctly. so basically i want full peak capability is why i asked if you hooked it up with the normal power wire requirement. aporeciate your quick caring reply. ill keep an eye out. These are $202 on Amazon now. im going to get a 3.5mm stereo splitter to use 1x bass knob.
+TewkyTag oh wow that's going to be a sweet setup. Let me. See what I can do. Will keep you posted
put bigger wire in than this yahoo did. its simple wiring 101. it will allow your amp to draw more power without voltage drop.
@@TewkyTag I use dodge journeys in my manure hauling business. They are already crap before I load them up.
Its been a while, hows this amp working out? You've made it through some summers...no overheating in that cubby? Looking to potentially make a similar install, but worried about venting the heat.
Hey Chris, great question. Been running awhile with this setup and things are working out perfectly. We get some pretty hot summers here in Texas and so far it has not skipped a beat at all. Bobbie loves is. Hope this helps.
I'm out in Louisiana, so I know about those southern hot summers. Thanks for the reply, glad to hear its been working out well!
No problem at all. Keep us posted, would love to hear how your install goes.
I have been doing the same sound upgrade, i have the new kicker speakers and I bought this sub as well. I'm just worried that putting it in that cubby will cause a lot of plastic to rattle and make it sound bad. How does it sound in your Jeeps? Does it rattle the cubby at all? I have a 2014 2 door. And i guess is it worth installing the sub as well. I'm quite happy with the bass output of the speakers. I love bass but if the sub doesn't add much then I'll likely return it for the price I paid.
Honestly We installed this sub in the same location on the 2015 Jeep Wrangler Altitude Edition. Also has seen in this video we installed it on the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Black Bear Edition. It has held up really well with no complaints at all. I would have to say this thing has a lot more kick than I originally expected. However its not going to blow your doors off either. If you turn the amp up to high you will get some flutter from the speaker it self. This sub will definitely add some base just dont plan for it to rattle the car sitting next to you. Hope that helps some.
hi Kay where did you end up placing your kicker speaker? i have a 2014 2 door as well and im still deciding whats best for location of the speaker, hope you can respond thank you
@@elijahthetrader I ended up returning it and didn't put a sub/amp in the Jeep at all.
@@kayhertz1301 oh okay thank you for responding, well i got the sub installed and its sitting right behind the driver seat angled towards the back of the seat, it was the only option but it sounds great!!
Great location. It's a great sub
Hi Bubba , I'm buying a brand new 2018 wrangler jk sahara unlimited . the factory stereo sucks was gonna do ur kicker speaker upgrade but need major bass. would 2 of those kicker hide away subs fit in that nook where u put urs?
HI!, Unfortunately that storage area will only hold one of these. But with that said you could add another one under the passenger seat they will fit :) Hope that helps. Good luck and a huge congrats on the new JK :)
Bubbas Garage Vlogs Thanks so much for the info. Can an aftermarket system sound just as good or better than the factory alpine upgrade without spending a fortune?
Hi Sorry for the late reply. To be honest I have been really impressed with the factory alpine system. We have it on the 2017 Jeep Wrangler Winter Edition and I love it. I think I might change the dash unit on mine but that might be about it :)
In the speaker harness you made, what wires does it consist of and do you know the size of the clip that connects to the OEM system? I'm trying to build the harness and seeing what I need to get. Great video!
+cameron walker the harness was what came with the amp I just added connectors on it instead of splicing the speaker wires is all. Not sure the OEM clip size to be honest. Heck if you could get the male end of that clip and attach that to your amp harness that would per a perfect install for sure. Hope this helps.
I just got my Kicker Hideaway, I'm a little lost w/ the Scotch Lock section. I understand the left and right for the sound bar but how do you distinguish L/R wires for the rear to Scotch Lock into? Don't want to blow my Jeep up.
+cameron walker I get that. All I can tell you is what I did. I assume your talking about by the passenger kick panel. Look up the wires for you year of jeep. That's what I did. Then I found the wires going to the back that ended and went no where in the back passenger cargo section and picked my color. The key is to make sure you pi k the right color at the kick panel otherwise you will need to run you own wires. Hope this made sense. We did this own a 2015 and a 2016 with the wire colors shown in the video and it worked great. Please research before splicing good luck
Thanks! I have the 2017 JK. I'll do some digging.
+cameron walker no problem. Good call. The wire colors could be different for sure
hey man i have the same kicker. the thing is that when my aftermarket head unit is turned to “sw direct” mode it sounds great and it kicks pretty hard, but when it’s on that setting the rear speakers stop playing what the front speakers are playing and instead they start kicking along with the sub. when i turn “sw direct” off all 4 door speakers sound amazing and play the same thing at the same time except i cant hear the subwoofer :( can you tell me what i’m doing wrong i feel like i’m missing a setting. the way they installed it they tapped in to the rear speakers instead of using the audio out/sub rca cables on the back of the head unit.
Did you ever figure this out. I went and check ours. Its tapped into the rear wires as well and seems to be working well. We didn't change anything on the head unit. Are you still running the factory head unit?
BubbasGarageTv no i’m running an after market head unit. it’s a sony mex-5100 bt. the wires look they’re tapped in to the rear speakers as well
Do u have a wiring diagram u can email me? .. I want to add the kicker hideway in my 2016 jeep wrangler.
+cog13hwk which wiring diagram are you looking for? Their are 3 parts to wiring for this install. I don't have any of them written up but I do I have the one that came with the Hideaway. If that helps.
Guy nice video but scares me because you are putting a lot of loads on a thinner wire, now I see why the turn in a mobile torch 🤔
Hey thanks bud. Really, we have been running this setup for a couple of years now and I can a'test it really isn't much of a load at all. The powered portion of the sub is turned down and sounds great for many many hours. Wires have never gotten warm at all. Would love to hear your thoughts.
yeah, he is really stupid. Don't follow his wiring advice.
There wasn't any plug attached to the blue and red wire. Didn't you mention one?
If your talking about the blue wire for the amp. The blue would be the remote on. We didn't use that one in this setup until after we installed the android head unit. The red wire for the amp is your power wire.
Bubbas Garage Vlogs Sorry..but you misunderstood me. I meant that there wasn't any plug at the back end of the Jeep where you tapped into for speakers. My jeep has no wiring for a factory subwoofer . As for your wiring setup...I couldn't figure it out.
+Paul Jeepman gotcha. That's very possible if you don't mind me asking what year do you have. Do you have a jk or jku? Just curious as this is a 2016 jku black bear.
Bubbas Garage Vlogs I don't mind at all. It's a 2012 jk. I need to tap into speaker wires for an audio signak... as I have a OEM radio with no RCA jacks. I ran the red power wire to the battery. I'm not sure as to where the speaker wires are. They differ in color from the sound bar and the side pillar. I can't trace them at all.
Sounds like the 2012 vs the 2016 might be totally different. I know that we did this also on the 2105 and it was the same havent tried any other years. I suspect what we have done in this video will not work for you and that you might have to run your own wires. Keep us posted for sure would love to know.
4 hours hahahahahaha. I did mine in about 1.5
Haha yeah that's about right. Takes longer to get footage lol
Damn when did wrangler become all plastic
+Gage Handy haha I know right.!!!
how hard does it hit?
I guess that's really relative to what you are looking for. For as small as it is we are very impressed. But don't get me wrong your not going to blow the doors off or anything.
Bubbas Garage Vlogs I'm looking for something decent, I really don't like too much because of the vibrations on the doors, I was wondering if the sound was loud enough to enjoy the bass
Totally get that. Its definitely loud and sounds good yet at the same time it wont be raddleing the doors off ha. Hope that helps.
So I'm planning on doing this same install but with rca. I had the premium system but due to some other changes in audio the subwoofer in back is not even connected. If I connect an rca to the speaker wire at the front kick panel then tap the kicker to the wire in the back I should get the same setup without needing to run the wires correct?
That sounds about right but honestly if you are running RCA's I think I would just run them all the way. Its pretty easy to run the cables down the side of the Jeep. would love to hear what direction you decide to take.
@@BubbasgarageTv I actually finished install recently. I have/had premium system when I bought the jeep used but 2 speakers were blown out. I have just gradually went to replacing everything so at this point there is a 4 channel amp pushing kicker KS series in the dash and roll bar, a Pioneer HU and now the Kicker hideaway in the trunk. I ran RCA that I cut and spliced into the speaker wire down the drivers side from the hideaway. Also used some extra speaker wire to extended the remote wire from the HU down the drivers side of the Jeep to the back and the power wire down the passenger side all the way to the battery. I then grounded it with one of the bolts in the trunk that holds the side panel in. I simply carved away a little bit of the plastic and sanded down the metal.
So far I am really happy with my whole setup. My only issue is I have a ground that need to be redone not in the hideaway but in the 4 channel amp.
Also tidbit over the trunk space I pulled the carpet over the plastic bin (which I did note remove because it helps the hideaway stay secure when upside down) instead of tucking the carpet under like it is OEM. Originally this appeared to be the easiest way to run the wires under the carpet without trying to kink them around the plastic. After a few test runs of different attempts on how to do this I realized doing it this way also helps deaden the rattle from the lid of the trunk. I took it a step further and put a thin line of rubber weather stripping around the bottom side of the lid. This helped deaden the rattle quite a bit and in theory will keep some of the water out of there if I get hit by rain while topless.
I changed the install up from your video but honestly I only completed this project because of your video. It gave me enough of a heading to get everything the way I wanted it. Thanks for your videos they helped a ton!
@@Tx_gnrl NICE, sounds like a really sweet setup. Bet it hits pretty good too specially with that 4 channel amp added to it. glad the video was able to give you some ideas. Thanks a bunch for sharing your feedback it helps :)
