he is intentionally ignoring them. Why do you think he doesn't talk to anyone with an Exklamation mark over their head? He is a wow player, he knows what that means.
He is ignoring side quests and concepts the game doesn't out right tell him to do. He never uses slingshot ammo, the hook, or anything really. He didn't even bother to figure out that his great sword has more than one combo/move set.
He just wants to go through all the story quests and be done with it.

    • @sam-psonsmith9951
      @sam-psonsmith9951 8 місяців тому +13

He even said he doesn't want to do a Baroth again, or that killing the Paolumu was a waste of time. He has no intention on farming any extra resources.

      @sam-psonsmith9951 8 місяців тому +18

@@Ragdoll00 I am not saying its not entertaining, just that he is gonna miss a lot of content in the game.
I think he doesn't realize that most side quests unlock mechanics, tools, extra equipment etc.
He is gonna miss out on a lot of things.
Which will also make the combat less interesting for him since he will never experience the full variety of options, skills, tools, and combos.
Not to mention that he will have a much much harder time beating the later monsters because he is going to lack knowledge in combat depth and options.
Example, he still doesn't know how to graple the monster or use the bugs to swing up on high places. Which can make running after them quite annoying and tedious. Which it wouldn't be if he would use the mechanics the game has to offer.
Most of which he will never unlock because he won't do side quests.

  • @FindingIcarus
    @FindingIcarus 8 місяців тому +63

Hey Asmon, hopefully this can help some with your experience:
If you go to the Options menu (under System in the menu) on the second page of Game Settings is an option to turn your Camera & Scoutfly Settings to "Do not follow" which turns off that annoying camera snap every time the scoutflies pick up a trail.
In the same menu if you go to Controls and set your Sheathe Settings to Manual Sheathe it will keep the game from sheathing your weapon without your input.
You can also change the behavior of the targeting reticle to make it less wonky. I set the Camera Style to Target Camera but some people prefer Focus Camera.
It can also help to change the Radial Menu Settings (under Controls) to Type 2, which responds to you clicking on the item in the radial menu rather than hold and release. Again, that's up to preference.
Hope these help with the start of what's going to be an epic journey.

Honestly the game is pretty much designed to cater to these gigantic slow weapons, all the bosses pretty much you only get to hit once every few moves. The only exception is if you have like, bowguns, dual blades, insect glaive that let you hit a lot more during a fight since they don't have as clunky of animations to get stuck into then get instantly carted by the first hit that comes your way.

This is because he's using the "Souls" game style for MH, which you don't really have to do. MH has it's own strategy with using heavier, clunkier weapons different from Souls.
Heavy weapons like GS doesnt really benefit from hit and runs and benefits more from anticipating positions and monster attack patterns to land true charged slashes just at the right moment at the right spot.

You really need quite some hours with the weapon to utilise TCS spam well. Personally i think that using the crit draw playstyle to learn your windows and spacings is best practice, it also trains you to roll to cancel recovery animation, head snipe>roll>sheathe repeat till monster topples then TCS while monsters down, its greatswords bread and butter and a very effective playstyle.

@@m_rod9562weapon choice matter a lot Greatsword is a good team weapon hard solo weapon. Fast dps will make bosses die quicker while the heavier weapons specialize in stuns or body part breaking to increase damage/loot.
Also some classes serve a utility
Sword and shield is the ultimate utilitarian having decent offense and defense, and a special passive that allows you to use items without sheathing. They’re also in the light category.
Bag pipe: is heavy category meaning it has stuns. Gives team wide buffs. Has the most versatility when it comes to quantity of buffs.
Lance: has ultimate block for stoping one shots, won’t buckle, and can really really chase down enemies like across maps. Not to mention the furthest reach for easier timing, fastest of the heavier sets but has the least stun/break potential. But the quickest for trades since you can block and attack same time.

Ok asmon, in case you read this:1) if you do anything during potion animation healing will stop, it's on purpose in case you are almost healed and need to dodge. 2) you always have to manually restock after missions 3) read descriptions, against anja for some reason you took the food that increased stamina at the kitchen in mission instead of the health increase, when you had rations which would have been able to increase stamina. 4) nothing to say on the combat side, you are doing honestly quite amazingly there 5) inventory management and undestanding the mechanics, crafting, gear etc is pretty much mandatory for this game, so take the time to read description of items etc etc 6) always ALWAYS get the gear from the supply box at start of mission, most of that gear ( the one maked by a small simbol ) will disappear once mission is done, like first aid kit, so use them first, and always take all the ranged ammo, even fi you don't use it ( and as such put it back into the stash every time you go home ) this way you will start to develop a stash of ammo in case you wnt to try those weapons 7) armor sphere for upgrading armor are progressive, ideally you want to always use the lower onces you need a precise amount to level up the gear so using a higher tier one will mostly waste it.8) health booster, ghilly mantle etc are specialized tools, they are INCREDIBLY useful, learn aboutthem and use them

TL;DR: Hitting the monster is more fun ~ Hammer is easier to swing. Try Hammer.
I would say to give Hammer a try. It’s legitimately an easier weapon to play. It’s like the Greatsword, but trade *some* power to regain a lot of mobility. Its attacks also come out much faster. It’s legitimately easier to survive on Hammer. In fact, you can take most of what you’ve learned on Greatsword and apply it to Hammer. You just get to move more.
You DO NOT suck. You’re actually doing surprisingly well for a noob. Especially a noob that chose the most unforgiving noob punishing weapon in the game. Greatsword is the ultimate feast or famine weapon. You have to *know* the monsters inside and out to get the big hits constantly. You have to know where they WILL be, which is as hard as it sounds. And if you don’t, because you’re learning the game, you don’t have that knowledge and experience, you end up whiffing and eating shit. Which genuinely sucks. I was there, I lived it.
Hammer takes it a step back, and still lets you live the heavy hitter life, just with a little more cushioning, and just a little more forgiveness.
Also, you get to bash a monster head until he’s on the ground partly unconscious, allowing you to beat the shit out of him over and over again until he gets back up. More downs over all. Deeply cathartic when you do this to a monster that’s been disrespecting you.

"Does it show how much health I got him to?"
Yes, kinda. The monster icon down of the left has a hearth rate monitor.
It shows you when he is aggressive (large spikes & flickers orange).
There are also 3 stages for the hearth monitor:
    1) Biggest spikes mean monster is above 66% health.
    2) Medium spikes mean monster is between 33% & 66% health.
    3) Almost flat line means the monster health is under 33%. I think the first red slinger ammo also drops here.
You can capture the monster around 20% health. The second red slinger ammo should drop here. It should also get a skull on the map & start limping away to the nest to rest.
Under 10% health should drop the 3rd red slinger ammo on the ground.

after a regular hit out of the 3 hit true charge combo you can click left to deal a side blow that deals low stun damage and damage but can be weaved into hits
Side Blow left Click after holding w and Left click
Side Blow Combo w and left click hold, and Right Click
Tackle Right Click During The Charge Up Animation Of A True Strike Cancel It Into A Tackle To Deal Stun Damage And Light Damage
Hold W and left click then cancel With Right Click For Tackle
Wide Slash after holding W and left click after the second hit of the true strike combo the 3 hit with the flip you can hit right click to do a quick side step wide slash around you as soon as your attack wiffs or hits
hold W+left click then right click for wide slash
Rising Slash left and right click for a huge rising slash that can sometimes hit heads or hard to reach targets above you can hit tails as well if you lock on and position well
rising slash hold left and right click
overhead slash forward and left click with weapon not drawn for a similar attack to rising slash
    guard left control i think
kick guard left control+left click to kick the enemy to show them whos got the biggest dick

Bro. Showing lots of heart, but just a few things. Not much.
If you're going to play a low mobility high damage weapon?
Need to practice run and gun. Sheath weapon and move , especially if you're in a tight fighting spot with a tough enemy.
Keeping your weapon out will get you hit by everything.
Only strike when you know you can get a good hit in and survive.
Two? Watch his icon on the map in the fight. If he turns red?
He's in enrage. All damage he takes is less and he does far more to you.
Best to trap then, hit'em with a dung pod or flash pod to negate their rampage.
    Third?
Always farm to upgrade your weapons and armor. These monsters get tougher and far more agreessuve. Best to keep yourself at a advantage.
    Fourth?
Watch those buffs. They may seem small, but fighting a monster without them put you at a serious disadvantage.
Keep weapons sharp. Keep negative buffs off you. Make sure to eat. Use those items from the chest. Take them always. What you don't use will be sent to your storage after. Best to stockpile items. Never know when you'll need them.
    Lastly?
    Explore the map.
Need to unlock the extra camps in each zone.
These fights can take you further and further from your main camp. As the game progresses?
Monsters injected into the game will hunt you like Pickle and Bazel. Need extra safe locations to dip into when needed. Plus they make extra fast travel spots for later when hunting monsters deep in the level.
Each of these zones have things you'll need to farm for items, weapons, and armor upgrades.
Don't be greedy in a fight.
The game baits you into trying more.
Sometimes it works. Most times it will get you. These monsters adapt to your playstyles.
    Oh and one more thing.
Drinking a potion doesn't fully heal you.
It only heals you as long as you keep drinking it.
The moment you stop? So does the heals and you lose that stack then.
    You'll get it!
Good job on that Anjanath clear!
Also armor spheres are not rare. You can farm them easily in Selina. Iceborne main camp. You'll get enough before then to level up a few sets of armor.
I still laugh years later at the Admiral screaming to capture a Elder Dragon 😂 when you can't capture a ED. He was a meme for that fight....so many years we laughed.

While I know zack will always go for the big things the whole "go big or go home" mentality. If you're playing for the first time and not an massively inflated ego of a streamer, then use the faster weapons to start off with (Daggers or insect glaive, there is another but its a bit too advanced for new players imo) to get used to how you need to switch and so forth (on PC, easier on console), THEN switch to bigger weapons if you like those, honestly it'll feel like you hit less walls and thats because you literally will have because the learning curve is reduce at that point.

36:10 You weren't half HP, It was really hard to tell because you were currently on fire and thus your HP bar was flashing a different color. You were VERY close to death and the fire damage finished you off. What WAS at half health was your red health. If you had extinguished the fire and not taken ANY more damage for several dozen seconds, your green health would've eventually recovered to fill your red health. Basically imagine red health not as actual health, but as a regeneration point. Your health will regenerate up to that point, but if you take damage before you regenerate your red health disappears.
