NASCAR 08 was an "OK" game, but the medallions feel useless for unlocking rewards. Chase Plates should have been unlocked through both mastering tracks and "BUYING" chase plates using medallions. I feel like additional cars, fantasy drivers, and create-a-car paint schemes should've been unlocked by purchasing them using medallions and the tracks should be unlocked by mastering the tracks. Think of it like this, mastering Daytona Speedway should unlock the Daytona Infield track, but the fantasy drivers shouldn't be unlocked by mastering Daytona Infield (or any other track BTW, especially when lapping 5 cars on road courses and plate tracks).
Overall, I like the idea of Medallions, but the way that it functions is completely wrong and unnecessary. And then comes NASCAR 09 on PS2 (content cutting and complete BS).
I think the reason why Dale Sr. was in from Thunder 2003 to 07 is because some speculated that he would’ve retired in 06 if he was alive... hmmmm... I’m still trying to speculate about this... but since there’s little information about how EA putting him in the games after his passing it’s such a mystery... THANKS EA!
This game was the last game that Dale Earnhardt was a thunder plate... and for the Nazareth Speedway they use it as a quote on quote fantasy track... please that was a real track nowadays the Nazareth Speedway is abandoned continuously rotting...
Knowing that Jimmie Johnson lost to Ryan Newman for rookie of the year 20 years ago, imagine lightning strikes twice in the Indycar Series (20 years later).
I must say, even with all of it's flaws. . .I still prefer Nascar 06, just because of the triple number fantasy cars when buying teams in Nascar 07. Although I do like the Allstate Qualifiers.
I literally just stumbled upon your channel maybe thirty minutes ago, watched a bunch of your review videos, got the joke that everyone has been waiting for your Nascar 7 review for years, and then found this video that JUST CAME OUT TODAY within an hour...
Another thing about 06 that bothered me, when you hire other drivers for your Wheelen team as an owner, sometimes they just decide not to drive. I have a guy who hasn't step foot in his car all year long. I have no idea why. I didn't know about the glitch that crashed the game if you sign the wrong contract. I thought my game was just scratched. Madden 08 on original X Box also had a tendency to crash for no reason. EA had some crap quality control back then.
Concerning skipping the early stages of the career: If you have played the games since 04 and have honed your skills in the track, I can see why you wouldn't want to go through the same grind yet again. I can also see why veteran and experienced players would want to jump into the higher level racing over repeating the process over and over again. I never grew up with the NASCAR games. I played NCAA and Madden NFL football games. In those games, it is good to skip the boring pre-season and other aspects rather than being forced to grind them every time. I am just trying to give a balanced perspective.
One reason i wasnt a big fan of 07 ( well this trend was starting in 06) was the lack of alternate schemes. Jeff Gordon only had his dupont, no pepsi or nicorette. Idk why ea really got lazy with it, well besides the fact ea is lazy and by then was mostly subtracting from games.
Apparently the game will freeze up if you sign a contract for KHI in the Busch series. Not sure which car is the problem though. It might be the 133 car that's the problem. As far as I know, the game assigns a replacement driver after you leave the 133 car, and it's a driver already in another car in the Busch series, and the game can't handle a guy driving two cars at the same time.
I used to have one for regular xbox back in the day, you started out on dirt track racing then had to go up from there. Was one of my favorite games and I can't remember which one it was.
Please tell me that I'm not the only one who thinks the AI are broken on the fantasy tracks in career mode. Like, how on Earth do they run 22 second laps on a Rockingham reskin?
There are two flaws with 07: 1. Clint Bowyer is not in the Cup Series (He is in the Busch Series though) 2. Carl Edwards isn't in the game at all. (I know license issues)
Yep, and Red Ball was introduced in NASCAR 2005, became UPS Speedway in 2006, went back to Red Ball in '07, became Toyota Raceway in '08, and then I don't know because I don't have NASCAR '09.
@D_Sprole I could spend hours on either one, love that Daytona road course in Thunder 2003, love the pack racing in Dirt to Daytona, well at least until tire wear kicks in and they spread out, but it's still great pack racing.
I really loved 06 and have more memories with 06, but once I started playing 07, I enjoyed it even more. The only thing I didn't like was that Jeff Gordon and Elliott Sadler only had one scheme and the triple digits are forced onto you when you buy a team. I have no idea why they did that. I usually just ignore the first number in the triple digits though, as the diversity of sponsors you can sign make it worth it as that diversity wasn't in 06.
This is the first comment I've ever left on UA-cam in the many years I've been using it and it's here because this is a special moment. Also I'm high as fuck...

My biggest pet peeve from 07 was the over 100 custom numbers
Saaaammme
YES!!! I hate numbers over 100
I didn't mind them as much in the modifieds so much, but they really shouldn't have been the only option.
@@keyboardwarrior327 True
Yes! And at the time I was a big Roush/Jamie McMurray fan, so this was the only way to get him that championship
Nascar 07 is The Last Nascar Game to Have Skill Points Lightening Challenges and Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Ea had started to slip by the time 07 dropped....online was the only thing i played by 09

Thanks for reviewing this game now my mom can stop calling and asking me when you’re going to review it
Actually, in 08 and 09, Old Spice became Boulder Raceway Park
That’s stupid
I CANNOT BELIVE THIS IS HAPPENING IM LITERALLY CRYING AND SHAKING RN
The Qualifiers are actually realistic because not every driver starts or drives full time in the lower series

Watching this on Halloween a year later....I love the extra effort! Very AVGN horror filmy.

"Old Spice was the only one not to get a name change"
Then why is it called Boulder County in NASCAR '08?

Coming here from 2022!! my neighbor gave me a box full of ps2 and ps1 games and this was a game in the box. im gonna play it alot.

I feel that the Allstate Good Hands Award has to do something with driving a clean race.
Also, Old Spice Speedway became Boulder Raceway Park in NASCAR 08 and NASCAR 09.
Dude, this is gold.
Yeah the alternate schemes was one of the best parts of Nascar 03 and 04.
Remember all those Looney Tunes schemes they had in 02?

1st off, is it for this game or 06?
2nd, if it really is the 133 car, then that chase task is useless.

Dirt to Daytona? But that wasn't on OG XBOX.
Figured this would have come last easter on 4/1 but NASCAR 07 👀 Holy Fuc$king shit tails!!!
Amazing intro with the theme song
You’re such a beast for the vigilante 8 2nd offense music around the 10 minute mark lmao
honestly the only thing 07 is missing from 2005 is Production Sports cars
06 also scores you twice if you drive Boris Said’s 36 MB2 ride

I had 06, and I never had those problems.. But I had the Xbox Version, sooo... yeah.
I didn't know the Chance 2 glitch was an everyone problem until now. I've been stuck with it for years at this point.
when that happened to me i thought my xbox was acting up.
Best nascar game on PS2 has to be "Dirt to Daytona"
Agreed, that one and NASCAR Thunder 2003.

I guess it's because it was my first NASCAR game on its console generation.
