Abit late to the game here mate, but I recently got back into playing Lord Of The Rings with a few friends. I wanted to start make my own terrain watched alot of your tutorials now and they have helped so much. Fantastic work, really blown away by the detail and yet how simple it is to create, i seem to be enjoying the building side of things more so now than the actual painting models part.
Thanks for all your hard work I'm about to start my model railway based in Scotland so lots of mountains , also more into landscapes than trains so all your stuff is great, cheers.
I'm trying to learn how to build terrain as tools to teach naval/marine students tactical concepts. Really appreciate what you do in these videos and am inspired to try my hand at it, just wanted to put that out there. Great work.
Trying to find out what this "CAULK" realy is but no luck, what else is it used fore? maybe that can help me. is it fore tiles? ore bricks, maybe its used fore flooring ?.
Just realized this is another good use for the rocks in my yard (there's a bunch of tiny rocks in front of the house that my parents are not a fan of so I've been trying to figure out all the ways I can use the rocks in crafts to both get rid of the rock issue and make cool stuff in the process!
Nice work! I wonder if you could use cheese cloth coated with plaster of Paris draped over crumpled up aluminum foil shapes or even crumpled paper and when it looks the way you want it, mist the cloth with water, let dry (hardened). Essentially it would be hollow underneath...just a thought! Thanks for the video!
I'm planning to make a really huge world (for dolls rather than minis, so it's BIG) and that caulk sounds very useful since the dolls are so big that they're heavy and could squash the structure unless I use some overkill reinforcement. (Some of the dolls are 1/3 scale - HUGE! Some are over 60cm tall.)
Great videos, very useful and should save me a fortune. The thing is called a sealent gun/caulking gun/caulk gun if anyone needs to search for one but should be available from most hardware shops.
hey luke. great vids. ive been looking into doing wh40k terrain for a while now and your vids make it look alot easier than other.doing a great job too. what board do you use to base on? i know you say you can use normal cardboard but when cut i can see the corrugated bit and i want to be able to edge it. any suggestions?
Fantastic videos Luke! Old school gamer like yourself who's just got back into the scene since the early 90's! Just wanted to ask you which grasses and vegetation products your using on top of your hills and roxk outcroppings? I always get confused between flock and grass too. Some links would be great, thanks :-)
Lukes Aps Cheers Luke :-) Sorry for the late response, I've been away for a bit. I found the filler stage awkward as it wouldn't stick to the foam very well and was too thick, dry and crumbly. Wilko's cheap stuff! Managed it with fingers and a knife! When u applied filler it looked much softer and sticker - should I just try a different brand!? Thanks again :-)
E-4 Airman you can ho to your local building supplies and get insulation foam board. get the rigid stuff not the polystyrene(although thats ok to use but too many poly balls) and its alot cheaper than modeling foam+ it comes in 2.4meter×1.2meter boards of different thicknesses :)
Are you going to make kits to sell on Ebay and if so how do we get pour hands on them, i.e. is there a specific title to go for? Otherwise as usual, excellent Vid and well worth watching for the non technical git like me!
Lukes Aps if you buy any tripod and a selfie sick the part that holds the phone on the selfie stick can be taken off and put in the tripod to mount your phone to the tripod. That's how I do it
Lukes Aps / I enjoy your work , it has given me some ideas for when I start my Large HO /Ho n 3 lay out ; it will cover an area 14 ft. X 24 ft. 6 1/2 in . all measurements US standard . and I believe this technique will save me both Time and Money . Thank You .
Thank you so much! I just found your channel yesterday and I totally fell in love with your creations! I don't really get the games yet, but i'd love to make some terrains and things like that! :) I'm so glad youtube recommended you! And sorry for my english:D
Awesome terrain Luke, looking forward to the tutorial waterfall video. Just been and raided pound land for all the goodies you suggest, couple tubes of resin, caulking gun and a pot of filler!
Hiya Luke could you please tell me the name of the foam your using, cause i can only seem to find the polystyrene foam which is made of little balls and seems to fall apart when cutting.. finding myself having to burn the edges to give it shape. And im really enjoying watching your vids :)
THE GUN ....GET ONE THAT CUT AND POKES THE TUBE YOU WILL USE SOME DONT SOME DO HAVE CUTTERS AND THE POKER .....THEY SHOULD PUT A MEASURING MARKS ON IT AND A LEVEL ON THE GUN O YA..
With a 7 month old daughter your videos are great for me saving money, keep them coming mate

Planning a large scale build, glad I found your videos. You make it look easy and give really good simple instructions. Thanks.

the thing at 06:05 is called a caulking gun. the glues and gels/silicones are called caulk or kit.
Trying to find out what this "CAULK" realy is but no luck, what else is it used fore? maybe that can help me. is it fore tiles? ore bricks, maybe its used fore flooring ?.
I was looking at a £60 bill when i started making my hills, poly + cutter etc.... Think I'll do it your way Luke.... Subbed.... :)

Great work and style. Please keep it up, and don't forget about the little guy when you make it to the big time. Thanks again Dennis
Great videos, very useful and should save me a fortune.
The thing is called a sealent gun/caulking gun/caulk gun if anyone needs to search for one but should be available from most hardware shops.
Wow - you've come a long way Luke! Both in terms of your terrain, and your video and audio skills.
The name of the gun is,"Caulking Gun".
Its a gun, for applying caulk....and they called it a Caulking Gun? No! Really? Brilliant, sheer genius! Who would of thunk it? lol
Unless you put a tube of silicon in it, then it's a Silicon Gun
they come in two sizes so buy the larger one, then it can take the shorter tubes, not the other way round.
Did you make a video on "how to make running water"?
the caulk that you use is it the same as the bathroom sealent stuff you can by from DIY stores ?
Well done, Luke! Thanks! Looking forward to your waterfall vid.
Brilliant work again Luke!
Would the B&Q brand Insulation board be good enough? Local one doesn't stock Kingspan.
+Lukes APS Just watched it haha, thanks for the reply. UA-cam never gave me a notification haha.
I am working my way through your catalog, so I am commenting. Also, love your products. Cheers.
Look at that baby-faced young content provider from four years ago; so different from the grizzled veteran we see today :D
I learn A LOT from your videos! Keep up the good work.
Wow that some of the very best terrain that I’ve seen! Brovo! 👏
Thanks for making and sharing this video!
Very informative, picked up lots of tips to help with my model railway project.
Another great video, never thought of using that glue... Thanks
A mastic gun lol. Great set of vids mate. Just found them and look forward to watching more.
That looks fantastic. Nice tutorial

You sound like you are from the UK but you use the North American term for sealent - how come? Are most of your subscribers from America?

Lukes Aps Nice one! Cheers Luke :-)
When you add filler do you add pva with it aswel
I know this is an old video but my budget is too low to buy this would polystyrene be an option
Yeah I read he said polystyrene works he just doesn't use it since he doesn't like the little beads the texture has.
Love the terrain, where did you get the foam?
+Lukes Aps I'm looking at the Kingspan website and, to be frank, I haven't a clue what I am looking for. What specific product should I be looking at?
what is this foam called? (UK btw) cheers
Nice piece.
yes where did you get the foam .... Please
+Robert Henderson
If it helps- I got mine from Travis & Perkins. It looks like exactly the same stuff.
looks like the Yorkshire dales, excellent, I was laughing to myself as I watched this video thinking, he's trying not to wake the baby.
Okay many thanks for the info and your work is amazing
Very nice I'll have to try it out and greetings from Michigan.
Great tutorial !
Awesome stuff, I reckon it's a good idea to do box sets and stuff, something I'd definitely consider buying from you if you did.
is there a certain kind of foam to use for this?
E-4 Airman you can ho to your local building supplies and get insulation foam board. get the rigid stuff not the polystyrene(although thats ok to use but too many poly balls) and its alot cheaper than modeling foam+ it comes in 2.4meter×1.2meter boards of different thicknesses :)

Awesome stuff Luke, you so need a tripod lol
+Lukes Aps get a cheap selfie stick and put it in a table vise. alternatively you could get an iphone clamp with a tripod bit.
Lukes Aps if you buy any tripod and a selfie sick the part that holds the phone on the selfie stick can be taken off and put in the tripod to mount your phone to the tripod. That's how I do it
very cool man
Really nice job, you should definitely try your eBay plan! :)

Since i am a 76 yr old female, I'm certainly not a "guy" which seems to be your intended audience but i have enjoyed your presentation.
@@GeekGamingScenics I'm one of your subscribers (I'm also a girl) idk if I'm one of the 4 or if I'm a new addition to the team lol

BUT YOUR EARRINGS MADE ME VERY F SICK.
Eh, they're not my taste, and I can understand some finding them distasteful, but they aren't hurting anyone, and they're not that much of an eyesore.
no one cares about your fucking shitty attitude. keep it to your self.
