    Voja, glad to see you finally complete your moving and are ready to try Glove80. Great video.
    One thing I do want to note about transition time. It really depends on the individual and neuroplasticity. Some of our users blew us away with how fast they transit. One of the users (@ibiza) said yesterday that he moved from a rectangular keyboard ($20 Walmart row staggered membrane keyboard) to Glove80 without prior experience with columnar keyboards, and reach **150 wpm** in a week. In general, we expect our users to take roughly one week to reach a productive speed, and one month to truly master a columnar layout.

    • @barryparker8528

      I think that person might be telling lies. I find it hard to believe they went to 150wpm just from swapping out a bad membrane keyboard to this ergo board.

    I'm looking at the glove, but on the fence because a reviewer noticed some annoying sounds during typing. And I'm not sure if i should buy this or the unsoldered version and use other switches.

    Curious to see the follow-up video. I have a Keyboardio Model 100 (and prior to that, a model 01) which I've been using since early 2018 or so, which is designed somewhat differently though similar. Quite happy with that one, especially the (far better, easily replaceable) switches of the model 100.

    I am looking forward to hear how you are feeling about it now, after having used it for some time. I ended up buying this, and my learning have been slow and a little frustrating,at times, but I am slowly but steady getting faster and my hands absolutely love it! I must say, that I still prefer "normal" keyboards for tasks that is not really text typing (lots of movement of the hands on and off the keyboard), but for writing it has become my absolute favourite. Do I love the material and feel of the build quality? Not really, but it doesn't bother me enough to make it a big issue, and it is light weight to carry. They should make a good case for it though..

      @@trudeoverlie2382 Thanks for the answer. I fully understand. In my opinion it is important that one looks for the different tasks one use a keyboard for. Typing is an important one (for most people), but others are (often one-handed) navigation, while browsing the internet and the like. Here one will use often shortcuts like Alt-arrows and the like. A third mode is editing existing content, where (text) navigation is key. Many keyboards with few keys fall short for the latter 2 modes. I was wondering how the Glove80 fares, because it has likely enough keys, but the well might be in the way for using one-handed navigation (mode 2). I might have ordered it, but it looked too light and flimsy to me and I also did not like how Steven from moErgo reacts on comments or questions. So not a company I want to support for that reason as well.

  • @urbantwilight
    @urbantwilight 9 місяців тому

    Is there an option with black double-shot keycaps? As far as I understand, the Glove80 uses unique keycaps that by default are translucent with opaque legends. I'd like it exactly in reverse - black opaque keycaps with translucent legends.

    I have been watching this (and some other ergonomic keyboards) for some time, and think it looks great and might be a solution for my hands. But I am worried that it is too complicated for me to change the set up to Norwegian. Can you please tell a little about this? Do you need to be a programmer or have really high tech skills to make it work? I think a keyboard like this (together with my Mira screen) might be a way for me to be able to work for a little longer than my body allows me today..

      Not really, because I wasn't able to offer an objective look at this product, so I returned it. The reason why I wasn't able to be objective is that I use the Nordic keyboard layout, and unlike an English or the US layout, I do really need and use those extra keys all of the time, and that meant that I was forced to try and adapt to both the ergonomic keyboard, and the Layering in order to use it normally. The keyboard itself is fantastic, and the adaptation period is really not that long, to adjust to the ergonomic aspect of it. However, the layering thing didn't work for me at all, simply because I would have to remember where did I map which keys, and there is no way to have that visually available on the keyboard. So that didn't work for me at all, and I was unable to get past that hurdle, and as such wasn't able to be objective about it anymore.

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  Рік тому +2

      Default layouts keep the extra characters on a separate layer, meaning, you won't have an indication where they are and you'll have to learn it by heart. Extremely unintuitive. You do have extra key caps, but then you will have to sacrifice other keys to fit them and set the "sacrificed ones" on one of the under layers.
      This is a major down point for this approach, as I would rather have an extra column of keys available for my ring fingers, and thus allow for the extra keys that this keyboard really does need, as it can't fit all of the F keys (F11 and F12 are also on a separate layer) as well as Print Screen and a few others.
      So yeah, definitely not a smooth transition, and even after the adaptation period, I believe that this limitation will simply remain a limitation and an inconvenience.

Some keyboards and mice are closer to neutral. The Logitech MX Vertical mouse keeps your hand almost perfectly neutral. The Kinesis Freestyle 2 or some of the ZSA keyboards can do a more extreme angle that are physically more neutral for your hand. The Freestyle 2 has the overpriced "Ascent" adapter to get to a perfectly neutral 90 degrees!

    I didn't know about this concept of ergonomic split keyboards. This model surely looks very well thought for minimum pain and fast typing. I feel however that the price point of this type of keyboard (and apparently the competition as well) is just outrageous. 200-250 $ or € seem to me like a maximum accepted price for a keyboard, however ergonomic. I understand that R & D is a big investment for the company, but also patents are there to protect and value that type of investment, and garantee 20 years of exploiting novelty.
    Think also about the risk of copying the concept? At the age of DIY and home 3-D printers, it doesn't sound impossible. So, please @moergo4127, make a keyboard at an acceptable price point.
    This said, is also justified by the fact that they are probably improvements to go, on the robustness and portability of the device. So new iterations to come would mean more sales, as long as the price allows you to try to first models coming to market. Please make the benefits of the keyboard accessible to a larger public, and not a niche market. Everybody deserves an ergonomic keyboard.
