I am the same way. I know about things having to go first before the next thing. Often, I find I need to move the item I did an hour before to finally fit something in that space. Then find another spot for what you just removed. I get overwhelmed and often shut down after several hours of chaos and actually have to leave the space and work in another room. I enjoy these videos. Those of us who like your videos on a usual basis just enjoy seeing you. wish I could be there to help.

My sewing area is trashed right now, to the point where I really have a hard time finding anything. I too get overwhelmed at the amount I need to clean up and your video is inspiring me to get it in gear and just get started.

I’m also easily overwhelmed. To deal with this, I make a list with checkboxes, and check off each task as I complete it. Seeing the checks calms me down.

Hi, you're doing great! I have a 10' x 11' sun room. I use it for my sewing room. I had so much to put in it, so I made a grid. With Graff paper t marked out room, doors etc. Using each square a 12" area. Then I used Graff paper to draw out base of cutting table, sewing table, cabinets, etc. Then I cut out and moved in my Graff room drawing. Mark windows and heights for the room and outlets. This saved so much time in moving things over and over.

When you posted this, House of Dragons was going off. Perfect timing. I've learned that when I can't, I can't. I'm still a work in progress on accepting it but I will tell you I have the head space for other things and it feels great. The need to take on others problems issues etc etc is a thing of the past. You will eventually get there. Keep vlogging. We all have a head space like this. You're not alone. Unsure if you're alone in the floating neither regions. 😂

You have the cutest personality! Yes, please keep sharing. I remember the day that my goal was to clean out the junk drawer in the kitchen. I started that and must have taken something from the drawer to put in my closet? or I’m not sure what happened, but 9 hours later…I had a whole new closet organizer in my bedroom closet and the junk drawer was still standing open and wasn’t organized. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😬

Everything you said about overwhelm & charging in to get things done, could’ve (and has!) come outta my mouth. Gadfry I sure can relate. I’m setting up a new studio too and it’s hard! I call it the Domino Effect that every task is linked to the one before and the next one after - it’s like, Where do we start?! Well I’m glad you shared this vid. It’s ok. We’re all human (or most of us 🤪😂). I’m sorry you’re in turmoil but you’re smart and will figure it out. Just like eating an elephant…one bite at a time. Congrats on your move. You can do this. BTW, overwhelm in this case is normal. Be kind to yourself.

Yea for Ikea!! Booooo for Spectrum and Verizon!! And yea for getting your printer set up!! You gotta get comfy with a mantra like "this is good enough for today" until you get your setup the way you like it for keeps ❤ I have my sewing stuff on two Ikea cabinets similar to how you explained with the table top on them but I got a huge butcherblock countertop that I put on them and I love it. 10 out of 10 recommend. Moving is such a pain :/ but it'll get comfier soon!

I do that too, Nicole. Maybe your love language has an element of service. I take on things because it will annoy me if I don't just deal w it (needing to either know the details or them not doing it how I would). Get it!

Yes! I think we can all relate. I moved into my sewing room two years ago. I was originally in my spare room/laundry/dressing room/ storage room and my sewing room…not a big room either. I thought i had planned the layout down to a T but I found it very difficultl it’s changed a lot and then a year ago my industrial arrived which meant another change. It never looks like I want..I’ve seem to accumulated a lot more stuff and I still haven’t got enough room lol.

Great video, very relatable. sometimes it just takes a moment to step back and let ideas flow. I lived with my space setup for over a year before the idea of the layout I have now finally fell into place. I had to learn how I worked in the new space . Can't wait to see your room finished.❤

Yeyy! Good job - now you know just record everything to keep you on track 😉. I’m the flat pack queen in my house too - husband is not permitted to build flat pack anything as he always does it wrong. 😂 But he’s great at all the other DIY so I don’t mind. Hope you got Wi-Fi sorted! 😊

Lovin’ this video so so much! I, like you, like to kind of “take over” my husband’s little jobs but mainly it’s because he has no idea how to do it. This applies to anything technical at all! He’s clueless when it comes to that but as far as fixing things and working outside he does all of that! He’s a kitchen installer btw! I’m always the one who has to talk to Verizon and companies like that. They are so inefficient and I also cannot stand it! I guess you could say I’m a little controlling and I don’t think that’s a good thing but I’m 69 yo and am having a difficult time trying to change that part of me!

A year ago this month I sold my parents home which they had lived in for 60+ years, at the same time I bought a new house. I feel your angst. There were times it was so overwhelming I thought I would have a meltdown. I had a crazy long list like yours and sometimes just crossing something off was the best feeling. It took a few months (mostly just the odds and end stuff) and one day I realized there were no more boxes in the garage and my house was a wonderful place-especially loved having a sewing room that did not double as a guest room. When I would get overwhelmed, I would pick one thing on my list that I knew I could get finished quickly and that helped tremendously. I love the vlog and would love to watch your progress on your new studio. Good luck

Okay, I’m a compulsive advice giver 😅 and here’s what I did when I set up, and relocated my sewing space, 3 times in 4 years.
Lists. I made a list of all the furniture/shelving I had to use, with dimensions, and also a list of all the things that needed placing: fabric, sewing machine, heat press. I drew out the room, with dimensions. And just started playing. I started with my “ideal”, ie I want my desk here so I can look outside, or this shelf here so I can access this easy, etc. Check things off as you place them, so you can easily see what’s left, and don’t miss anything. Make sure you put the thing you use all the time right next to you, and the things you only use occasionally, further away. Don’t mistake importance for need of proximity. It’s great you already figured out the light in your glasses. I just kept playing with pencil and paper (although there must be an app that can do that, but don’t go down that rabbit hole!!) and kept playing until I had a starting point. Hopefully this is helpful. I LOVE doing this. It’s one of those “invest some time up front, and future you will thank you” Good luck! Love these videos, can’t wait to see the results!! ❤
