Krill Labs - Hunter Gatherer - friendly neighborhood all terrain rover robot

This is Hunter Gatherer, an outdoor all-terrain reconnaissance rover with a 4 axis articulated arm, dual pan and tilt cameras, LED spot lamps and a long range wireless radio for full ip-based communications.
It's primary computer core is a raspberry pi running custom software capable of establishing TCP sockets from a client running on a remote system. It uses both it's onboard GPIO as well as expanded external i/o tied to the i2c bus.
In addition to just taking commands and translating them to control-output, the PI is also monitoring relative position. There are encoders on each drive train feeding pulses back to a custom programmed I2c chip counting pulses. The pi can then take this pulse data and use it to either retrace its path home, or to go to pre-programmed destinations autonomously.
Control through the PC client software can control the robot with either supervisory instructions, via a mouse/keyboard, or even a bluetooth connected PS3 controller.
Hunter Gatherer is best suited for tasks like bomb disposal, nuclear disaster cleanups, or neighborhood watch!
