Theory: Doing the right thing made the Universe forgive Max for messing up with the natural course, giving her a happy ending with the condition to not manipulate time again.
In case you're not familiar with game modding, that's exactly what you can do (free of charge) if you follow the link in the description. Assuming you have the game on PC of course.
@@eezonaut i know. A official ending just seems more satisfying, since it always opens the possibility for a 3rd lis game. I'm not against modding though
@schattenprinz4957 Life, or at least scenarios in life, can have happy outcomes, and regret for a wrong choice could help with making better choices in the future. 🤷♂️
Here's what I don't like about the canon endings. It's clearly meant to be the Trolly problem. Which is more moral - doing nothing which kills many, or take an active action that saves the many but kills one. The game implies that it's the save the town ending - letting one person die to save many. My problem with that is the explanation of why you end up in that second situation doesn't make sense. The storm is apparently caused when Max uses her powers to change the past. But in that ending Max uses her powers to change the past. In the original timeline, she runs out to try and stop Nathan. Here, she stays hidden. Past changed. Because of her powers. A better ending would have been a Kate Marsh type of ending. Max walks out before the shot, and using everything she learns throughout the game, you have to try and convince Nathan to turn himself in. Without provoking him into killing you both. It would make the game not just a binary pick your ending (which I can't stand when games do that). It makes you earn the ending you get. It gives actual meaning & purpose to everything you went through. It makes the Kate scene not just narratively meaningful but mechanically as well, because it sets up that end. And it gives you a chance at a happy ending. One where Chloe lives AND the town survives.
That's a really good ending idea. I think what the writers were going for was that the storm was caused specifically by Max preventing Chloe from being shot, rather than being a product of the power usage in general. Max had the ability to rewind time earlier in the classroom as well, before the whole bathroom incident, but the usage there isn't ever undone. Just allowing that one specific person, Chloe, to live, when she was 'supposed' to have died, seems to have triggered the disruptions that ultimately culminated in the storm. The story is limited by trying to work with that premise, and I guess it was always intended to be a tragedy, so I don't know whether interesting ideas like yours might even have been explored.
You're welcome! I was too. Thankfully, everyone I reached out to when framing this was a star about using their work, so glad it could all work out. :)
Assuming you're not pulling my leg, thanks, but time is not reversed here (from the point when the final decision is made at the lighthouse). Maybe the description will explain better! Also, any credit is due to the many artists whose works feature in the mod as well. :)
I always believed there was some religious implications with God destroying Arcadia Bay to punish Max for trying to play God, so him sparing Arcadia Bay when Max intends to set time on the right path actually makes perfect sense. In this regard, it kind of reminds me of the story of Abraham, when God commands him to sacrifice Isaac. When God sees that Abraham is willing to sacrifice his own son, God commands him to stop. This is just my own take on it. Regardless of the intention, I love this mod
I like that interpretation. It keeps the original intent of making the end choice a moral dilemma - a "trolly problem" - but doesn't make the whole game pointless. It gives the whole story, and the choice at the end, actual purpose.
It just wasn't the direction they were going for I suppose, but at least the lore was vague enough to accommodate something like this from the fan end. :)
I wish Max had gone back in time to when Chloe and Rachel took those photos and tried to save Rachel like she did William. I doubt much would change if Rachel had survived and they probably would’ve had Jefferson arrested much sooner which would also save Kate. Max should’ve just went back in time to save Rachel instead of William.
it's a great mod, however i think it was always meant to be a tragedy; because if the deep feelings the game had a so much success, especially thanks to the endings. if they turned it into a happily ever after type of thing a lot more people would be like "oh okay cool game" and that's it. it was kind of meant to leave an emotional mark on players i think :) and it worked! even though i definitely wish i could explore that world more
You could try replacing the files manually. First, extract the mod's zip file and navigate through all the folders until you arrive at the actual modded files (in the 'Movies' folder). There should be 11 files. Next, open a new explorer window and locate the default original versions of those files in the game's installation directory. Make a backup of those originals, then delete them from the game's installation directory and from the Recycle Bin. Finally, copy over the 11 modded files into the same folder where you deleted the originals from, and it should work.
It would depend upon whether the folder structure is accessible and whether the game data is encrypted when the disk that the game is installed on is read on a PC. In case a modding attempt is unsuccessful, the disk could potentially end up seeming corrupted/unreadable to the console, so anyone wanting to give it a try would be advised to experiment only on an external drive that only has the game on it and no other important data, in order to prevent loss of critical information or functionality in the case of failure.
If you install it, it changes the outcome of the game as per the video (from when the camera zooms in to the photo of the butterfly). Instructions can be found at www.nexusmods.com/lifeistrange/mods/17/ , where you'll find the download link under the "FILES" tab.
As I haven't tried the mobile version, you'll have to do some figuring out to know if it's possible. (In case there are any doubts, I should make it clear that this video demonstrates a fan-made modification which is not an official option in the game.) First take a look at the mod page linked-to in the video's description, and examine the names and extensions of the files that the mod replaces (download the mod on a PC first, if you need to). Next, if you can access the mobile game's file and folder structure through a file explorer app on your phone, and if you are able to locate exact matches for the files provided in the mod, it should just be a matter of replacing the corresponding game files on your phone with those from the mod. In case the files in the mobile version are using a different resolution or compression method from those in the Windows PC version, however, then it might not be possible to get the mod working with the mobile version in its current state.

double exposure : oh shit here we go again
I still can't believe the developers didn't give the option of a happy ending. But if they put out a dlc for this ending, I'd buy it. In a heartbeat.

Because life isn't about having a happy ending, but about making choices and learning not to regret them.

The game wont let chloe or town live, so it pointless
Finding all the photo opportunities should have been a secret requirement for a secret happy ending.
Max's face as she chats with Kate looks sooo creepy but I love this idea. I would love to see more Kate and Warren.
Thank you so much! I was so sad about both ends :(
You're welcome! I was too. Thankfully, everyone I reached out to when framing this was a star about using their work, so glad it could all work out. :)
Hey u know what u just did
You saves chloe as well as the town by reversing the time
U R THE REAL HERO MAN

Well, thanks! I'm glad you found it useful. :)
@@eezonaut at first when i completed the whole season i was very sad but now u saved me
Now after my exams i will be downloading it 😊
I wish this was actually in the game more endings would of been nice that’s where the sequel does better in my opinion
Same the only thing the choices affected was how long the kiss was or if they kissed or not and that’s only if you sacrifice Chloe 😭

I don't really think is god, since all the LIS games have something to do with Native American spirituallity
@Lalalice I guess God/Tobanga/The Universe etc. could be interchangeable from a broad context.
Did Nathan survived or still got killed by Mr. Jeffershit?
Nathan couldn't survive here because the mod doesn't retroactively change anything preceding the final decision at the lighthouse.
thx
I love you man.
You are the real hero
Lol thanks, but credit is due to all the artists involved of course. :)
(The full credits can be found on the mod's page!)
dude foreal, this should have been an option.
It just wasn't the direction they were going for I suppose, but at least the lore was vague enough to accommodate something like this from the fan end. :)
Oh I get it now, the right choice allowed Chloe to live in this scenario 🤔
In case it isn't clear, this is a fan-made mod (see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mod_(video_games), and this video's description for details).
The original sacrifice chloe ending was where she lived but ended up in a coma but they change it
Thanks man, beautiful ending.
Thank u i needed this...
Well, I like this as the ending where even if Arcadia bay is destroyed, most of the citizens are alive
I wish Max had gone back in time to when Chloe and Rachel took those photos and tried to save Rachel like she did William. THE POWER OF TOBANGA!
I cried like a Goddamn baby when I sacrificed chloe

I thought there was gonna be a good ending but no I have to let my best friend die to save everyone what about save her and everyone? thank this vid

It might, but unless anyone here has time travel powers, we'll have to wait some months until it's released to know for certain. :)
