How to make colored acrylic with chalk!

Hi everyone! Today I'm bringing you a tutorial on how to create beautiful pastel acrylic using chalk! I absolutely love how the colors turned out and I hope it works for you too!

big help.. If you grind the pastel chalk pieces from the bottom up and keep the bit from forming any ledges on the chalk piece you get a very fine grind and can grind the entire piece of chalk except for a miniscule tiny piece at the very end. Wear gloves so it doesn't coat your hands but always start at the very end of the piece and grind up the piece with your bit moving steadily back and forth across the little end. You can grind the whole piece in about a minute and a half OR do what I finally did and get a power coffee bean grinder at about 14 bucks at Wal-Mart and use it to grind your chalks. It gets them milled like powdered sugar and cleans yup very easily and best of all you dont have to do anything but push the button and rinse it out and dry it (make sure you get the kind with the removable cup that's washable). Use a spice crusher to crush your chalk 1st..before mixing with the acrylic.

Try using a mortar and pestle to crush the chalk into a fine powder. I saw it done that by a few youtubers and it worked well. I don't remember their names. I liked your video,tfs.

Using a mortar and pestle will definitely smooth out the powder. When I first started making colored acrylic powders I had the same exact results not mixing well enough. I ordered a stainless steel mortar and pestle from Amazon and now my results for my color acrylics are like the pros.

I just finished your video and heard you mention the coffee grinder !! I said that in my previous comment before I was even 2 minutes into your video !! I love using mine for these but like I said..i bought one just for this use at Wal-Mart because of the cross contamination with food. The chalks are powdered sugar smooth when they come out. Zero lumps or dark spots. You really need to get one of you do this often. They are also sometimes listed under spice grinders as well as coffee bean grinders so look for that too. Good luck.

You may want to try to use a medium to course drill bit so you won't get the chunks. I saw girl in another video use the medium to coarse grade drillbit and there were no chunks

The craft section of most stores (like Walmart), craft stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc. It's just pastel art chalk and she grinds it up. You can even use eye shadow for color.
