    I love using soft pastels that come in the little sticks.. you can grind them into powder with your efile and Mix with acrylic and make gorgeous colors. I also use eyeshadow and mica powders. The most expensive part (sorry but once you factor it in these are more than $1) is your acrylic powder. And if you are using clear that is for full use strength nails you absolutely do not need white, which will lighten your bright colors. You can use clear without white if the clear is made to make nails on its own. White isn't the only strength powder out there.. I've only ever added white to colors I want to lighten.. and I have no breakage. Try those soft pastel chalks too.. They are available at any art store or hobby lobby, Michaels, Wal-Mart for next to nothing and the color ranges are gorgeous. And if you grind them up with your efile the powder is super smooth and blends beautifully with the acrylic powder. And the nails are SUPER STRONG and I use mia secret clear acrylic powder only. Love that you are teaching people who might not know and are spending hard earned money on colored acrylics. Great video !!

    Awesome. Vid. Pretty nails! Contemplating if I should go back and buy white acrylic? did it make the color pop when you added a little? Or does it also lighten the color? I want to make a really dark jet black one? But I want it to be opaque and not transparent. So thinking maybe adding white acrylic would help? But I don't want to lighten the color either. Does white acrylic in itself actually make the nail "stronger" like you said? Or did you mean it just make the nail color strong/bolder? Thanks!

    • @NewNailTechSuccess
      @NewNailTechSuccess  5 років тому

      To make it opaque you will need more black than white. Yes white acrylic make the nail it self stronger. Because the white acrylic is used for sculpting the white on a pink and white set. So the white is stronger to prevent it from easily breaking. At least this is what I've found to be true. Thanks for watching.

    floored----I saw those this morning and have some myself and wondered, can these be used on nails? Well, I now have my answer. wow...lol.
    I see that someone said chalk.. I will watch that video later tonight. Newbie to at home nail care starting a one time base class in two weeks.
    Your videos are very informative.

  • @larissao7614
    @larissao7614 7 років тому

    I've used both chalk and eyeshadow. However I didn't use white which would be why it was light. Thx for the tip of using white as a base

    • @Kingskidzzz
      @Kingskidzzz 5 років тому

      have you tried this tip? how'd it go? contemplating if I should go back and guy white acrylic? did it make the color pop when you added a little? Or just only lighten it? :( Did it make the nail stronger like she said? Thanks!

    Thanks for your tips, that variety pack, I would combine all the similar shades to increase the amount for the shades. My grandma was a cook and taught me how to cook, how this relates to nails? She never wrote measurements for any of her recipes. All in her head only. I have recipes for perogies I don't see anywhere. I wont write it down cause now its in my head. Also yes the recipe does change in taste-slightly-but ever so slightly and, delightfully. I def. am not trying to discourage you, you do your mixes however comfortable. I could go crazy with trying to get the right shades by 1/4's of this & 1/8's of that. One it'll be quicker, oh and also* its how I learned to make shades of colors in oil painting class at my college. We would add only a touch by touch because esp. if colors are highly pigmented like oil paints are. A little goes along way so to add colors more than a pinch then you have to be careful you wont make the outcome too murky or too bland. If any of that makes sense. I hope my perspective brings a new sense or idea about your doing colors for you. Its good to know for certain recipes (maybe) that if you like it enough you may just eye ball the specific colors added so you dont* need to fuss because the combos always come out right for you give or take ^^ Lovely video.♡💜💚💙❤

      You could always try mixing the powder and use cornstarch. Cornstarch usually last for about a week or two.

    • @PN-sk3ve
      @PN-sk3ve 5 років тому +2

      You don't have to soak off your nails, you can just lightly file off the last color from your nails (if you need to do a week or two acrylic touch up then just get that done, don't forget to push up the cuticles, lightly file the natural nail, apply dehydrator and primer) then apply the new acrylic color on your nails and do the rest of the steps to finish the new manicure. I hope this helps you to get more use out of your existing acrylic. Good luck to you =)

      There is no best acrylic. It comes down to trying different brands and seeing which one you like and can afford. But I will say Mia Secret is a good brand when you are just learning. It applies and stays well and is affordable I did a video review on it ua-cam.com/video/kz5eNzoewoI/v-deo.html and if you want to purchase the link is in the description box. Thanks for watching.
