Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga are really good, those were both my first SMT games and I enjoyed it. As far I remember there is not much 4th wall breaking in it though
About devilman, I would Recomend Checking out The Manga and Devilman Crybaby( the Manga and Crybaby are very different ), Devilman is nothing like the Anime we get these days
I don’t know what the fuck it is, but the aesthetics of the very late 90s and early 2000’s are so calming and inspiring for me; your music adds beautifully to it as well.
SMT If and 2 has fan translations, tho only for the Snes version, as far as I know. If is interesting cause it's like, proto persona 1, and I honestly liked it better than the original Persona 1, I just don't like the battle system in that one, first-person shenanigans just felt a bit snappier and faster, I dunno.
Persona 1 falls victim to the idea that more is better, and in doing so it makes what are engaging mechanics in SMT1, 2, and if... an absolute slog to deal with. Story's still solid, should be adapted into an anime though.
@@daevious_ Oh yeah, plot's def solid, I mean, the original one, I assume the ps1 localized one got a bit butchered? But yeah it's def a fun story, SMT-light i'd call it, it's not world ending, but it's pretty close but a bit more grounded. But yeah, honestly Persona 2 also sorta was a slog to play a bit, the psp one wasn't tho', but in a silly twist of fate we only got Part 1 of the remake, wonder if Part 2 was fan-translated already on Psp? haven't checked in in a while, i just didn't want to go back to the ps1 style of things.
@@QMMarc Part 2 is still using the official PS1 translation, which is still good and definitely gets the main point across. However, its clear that AtlusUSA wasn't hitting their stride yet, and the decision to keep it consistent with the Revelations: Persona translation made sense at the time but has made it age worse than it needed to. Still worth playing if you want to hear Batou/Old Joseph Joestar as a Persona using Hackerman.
@@IanThunderbolt Yep, tho' I had to mod in the original soundtrack, i like the pop song, but lyrics song in battle in a game where like, 80% of the game is a battle gets way too repetitive for my taste, its fine the first 2 times, but, its just one song the entire game (I assume minus bosses), plus i like the original more somber songs, P2 came with the original soundtrack to choose which was pretty smart, tho' in that case i liked the remixes, ironic.

Damn, I consider myself a hardcore PS1 gamer, but you always manage to come up with games I never heard of. I even watch those "every games for X console" videos out there for research when I have the time. The Devilman game looks so good (do watch the new anime, it's on Netflix). And yeah, the Fist of the North Star beat'em up kinda blew my mind as well when I played it. Those character models omg Here are some suggestions of PS1 Japan only games that you can totally play without knowing Japanese and I don't remember seeing on your videos: - Speedpower Gunbike (somehow I think you'll really dig this one) - Adventure of Little Ralph - EOS: Edge of Skyhigh - Gamera 2000 (PS1 Panzer Dragoon clone, and it's great, and the FMV are in English, and hilarious) - Kaisoku Tenshi: The Rapid Angel - Gear Fighter Dendoh (awesome) - Mad Stalker: Full Metal Force - Soukaigi (kinda hard to push through all the damn Kanji, but I managed it) - Wolf Fang: Kuuga
@@MiloKuroshiro arguably true, but these games take triple digit hours, so not playing all of the dozens of games in the series is not just an acceptable consequence, but a fact for pretty much everyone. Honestly, even SMT IV is ruined by the fixes to its combat system in Apocalypse imo.

Great video Thor! I really enjoy these compilations of many games in one video. I'm happily suprised to see SMT, I thought that is a series that was quite lacking on this channel. Nocturne Analysis when? I'm joking..............unless? Some infos for those interested below: The SNES versions of SMT I, II, and If... are all translated into english by the group Aeon Genesis. In the case of If.... it took almost a decade and was held hostage in a sense by the translator (it's considered incredibly rude in fantranslation circles to pick up a project someone else is working on). I don't know about If... but I and II had really weird names for spells and some non-canon material. Conversations were changed and instead of the trademark spellnames like Agi or Bufu, we got Fire and Ice. There's a fan patch to fix this. The Lain Game has a website with translations dedicated. It's not exactly like the game but I think it's cool and fits the concept of the whole Wiredo thing (being, that we are all connected in this electronic IntraNet). Outside from visual differences, the Wired and the Internet are the same, basically. Here's the link to the english version laingame.net/about.html
The name for the SMT 1 &2 patch is Ordens patch. It’s based of the AG translation but with item and spell names updated to modern US SMT nomenclature and fixed all the bugs with the original AG patches.
Alright. Legend of dragoon is shown, mentioned or music plays - > I instantly like. Now where that's out of the way: good God what a fkn amazing video. Seriously! I felt emotions and stuff while watching. As an old psone kid this is my jam. Amazing work, really.

lol the devilman OVA has an amazingly hilarious dub. i did try to play it but i never got far enough to play the devilman fights but it seem really cool as a fan of the series. and the fist of the north star game graphically looks great id say that, vagrant story and deception 3 are probably my favorite looking 3D games on PS1
8:18 this reminds me of a japanese only DS game called nanashi no geemu, the game inside a game mechanic, luckily this one has a fan translation (also the sequel, not the 2 little DSiWare exclusive spin-offs tho :c)
You have to watch lain. It's peak atmosphere and has some of the coolest sound design ever. It's all early internet days mindfuckery with a lot of old conspiracy theory stuff and sudden dives into Jung stuff that somehow got greenlit and then finished.
I just impulse brought Notam of the Winds because of the cover. Like holy shit. I felt compelled to own it. I mean, just actual, true vaporwave. It's a great conversation piece. And the menus, true icing on the cake. It was only 27usd on ebay. A true hidden gem. :3
Old Artdink is a mainstay in the land of weirdass and seemingly unecessary, huh Also that Devilman game made me initially go "ah shit, is it Vampire Hunter D all over again?"
"Vaporwave" has been an aesthetic in the back of some people's minds for almost 40 years now. Normies and hipsters had to come up with a name for it first, though...

by far the most underrated creator on this platform, the amount of work you put into the stuff you're making is incredible dude. keep it up, i've recommended your videos to everyone i think would be into them
Moon really makes you FEEL like a sattelite.
having known about these games already, the most I got out of this vid is that Thor needs to watch Serial Experiments Lain
Your channel is proof that years of hard work, consistent quality, high rewatchability of every video, and general excellence don't get you over 100k if the youtube gods rolled a 1 for you
:(
I wish I had a modicum of clout to send people your way. You and Odallus: the Dark Call
What the... that Fist of the Northstar Ps1 game looked really awesome?!
Gotta say, your graphic design is always on point fr
Some nice WipEout font in the end makes this video compelling :)
hey thor! about the joke with the dog at 8:30, it just says that a dog appeared, it waved with its tail, nothing happend, you achieved a splendid victory, didnt gain any experience points but feel very statisfied with your own strength^^
This style of editing is pretty nutty, I've never seen anything quite like it
You really out here making videos i'm too lazy to do but still want to exist.
Moon is hype
I did not want this video to end.
Devilman Crybaby is a piece of art.
@@TheLukeLook a shit piece of art
@@Jeremiah15100 shitty opinion
@@TheLukeLook cheers, maybe read the manga before you call it a piece of art, pleb
Your editing is of another dimension.
I don’t know what the fuck it is, but the aesthetics of the very late 90s and early 2000’s are so calming and inspiring for me; your music adds beautifully to it as well.
Thank you for this episode of inter-dimensional video games thorsan.
The PSP version of P1 with the speedup makes it pretty tolerable.
I couldn’t imagine slogging through the original NA release.
I recently started watching japanese v-tuber streamer Korone and she's playing wierdest ps1 japanese games. "Not Treasure Hunter", some wierd licesed stuff base on japanese cartoons, including wierd adventure horror stuff that plays like a puzzle horror but have cartoony presentation. I don't undarstand anything but can't stop watching
wow this feels good to watch, stylistically fantastic
I like your janky style. Artistic and genuine. You clearly know a lot about the contents of your videos. Subbed!
That Destrega clip made me whole. Thank you Mr. HighHeels.
i love your editing style
"Am I not worthy of the succ?"
He's asking REAL question here
I started playing SMT Nocturne last year, and it's great. The music is fantastic, Shoji Meguro is one of my favorite video game composers. I highly recommend it especially for the Dante cameo/boss fight.😁😆👍
This gives me life. Your videos are amazing. Thank you!
I was rewatching some Game Dungeon and thought to myself "maybe I can check ThorHighHeels" and here's a new video! Bless you, you fabulous son of Odin.
Those character models omg
Here are some suggestions of PS1 Japan only games that you can totally play without knowing Japanese and I don't remember seeing on your videos:
- Speedpower Gunbike (somehow I think you'll really dig this one)
- Adventure of Little Ralph
- EOS: Edge of Skyhigh
- Gamera 2000 (PS1 Panzer Dragoon clone, and it's great, and the FMV are in English, and hilarious)
- Kaisoku Tenshi: The Rapid Angel
- Gear Fighter Dendoh (awesome)
- Mad Stalker: Full Metal Force
- Soukaigi (kinda hard to push through all the damn Kanji, but I managed it)
- Wolf Fang: Kuuga
ThorHighHeels man can u make a video about fear effect 1+2?
Always a red letter day when a Thor vid drops.
Man I don't know you're channel to good yet, but damn this is funny. Good job man.
Yeah, you should play SMT, a good starting point for the main series is IV on the 3DS.
I don't think it's a good starting point. IV has too many good quality of life improvements that's super hard to go back to the old games without them
@@MiloKuroshiro arguably true, but these games take triple digit hours, so not playing all of the dozens of games in the series is not just an acceptable consequence, but a fact for pretty much everyone. Honestly, even SMT IV is ruined by the fixes to its combat system in Apocalypse imo.
You're the best, ThorHighHeels!
Moon Remix RPG Adventure,Raging Loop,YU-NO, pretty much every rare Japanese games are being brought/revive nowadays! There's still a couple of rare JPN games left. Let's keep it up and bring this for PC and Switch.
Dai Gyakuten Saiban 1/2, Tantei Jinguuji Saburo games (Kind of Blue/Innocent Black), Mizzurna Falls, Missing Parts the Tantei Stories, Psychic Detective Series, Twilight/Moonlight Syndrome,
PS4 Remaster versions that came out in Japan recently from El Dia.
Eve: Burst Error R/Rebirth Terror ,Doukoku Soshite, Desire,
Add in Love Sim Games as well! Ebikore + Amagami,Ebikore Photo Kano Kiss,Reco Love Blue Ocean/Gold Beach
We need more Dating/Love Sims!
Favourite channel on the website right now.
lmaoo i listened to your album positive yellow before finding out about your channel no surprise it sounds like ps1. good shit
Great video Thor! I really enjoy these compilations of many games in one video. I'm happily suprised to see SMT, I thought that is a series that was quite lacking on this channel. Nocturne Analysis when? I'm joking..............unless?
Some infos for those interested below:
The SNES versions of SMT I, II, and If... are all translated into english by the group Aeon Genesis.
Dude you should watch Serial Experiments Lain. It's no Evangelion but it's a crazy ride. It has some really interesting themes and messages that are even more relatable today. Crazy because it came out in 1998.
Nocturne is my favourite video game EVER 💎
*Talks bout how cool the box art is*
*Applies weird visual effect to them so you can't see them properly*
:-(
Props to Nale Gunn for that Abflug Supra/FTO thing. I dig it hard. Had a look through some of their other stuff and the RX7s get a big thumbs up from me, too.
lol the devilman OVA has an amazingly hilarious dub. i did try to play it but i never got far enough to play the devilman fights but it seem really cool as a fan of the series. and the fist of the north star game graphically looks great id say that, vagrant story and deception 3 are probably my favorite looking 3D games on PS1
8:18 this reminds me of a japanese only DS game called nanashi no geemu, the game inside a game mechanic, luckily this one has a fan translation (also the sequel, not the 2 little DSiWare exclusive spin-offs tho :c)
my man didn't know hot air balloons existed
Music fucking BANGS
Editing goes CRAZY
This is great comfort content. I feel home.
Old Artdink is a mainstay in the land of weirdass and seemingly unecessary, huh
Also that Devilman game made me initially go "ah shit, is it Vampire Hunter D all over again?"
"Vaporwave" has been an aesthetic in the back of some people's minds for almost 40 years now. Normies and hipsters had to come up with a name for it first, though...
I listed to your music its FIIIIIIIIRE you have a new fan bro
Both smt 2 & smt if available for snes. And got fan translations. In case you didn't know.
yo, it seems Racing Lagoon will have a fan translation after all
Some very sick editing my dude
