Silent Mobius is much more important to Japanese media than us westerners think. The manga was one of the first stories ever published that features an all girl action squad. The way the story focused on each of the girls' backgrounds, as well as the cool, Blade Runner inspired cyberpunk vibe made Silent Mobius a sort of cult sensation in Japan back in the early 90's. While it never got the popularity it deserved, Silent Mobius can still be credited for influencing media titans such as Sailor Moon in manga, or Sakura Wars in gaming.
I grew up watching the series, but it disappeared after Tech TV was eaten by the corporate giants and they killed anime. I'm so glad he made this video because I couldn't find the series for years.
@@priscillaasagiri4913 I forgot to write "published in English". Yes, those titles came out before Silent Mobius, albeit only as anime. If there's something new Silent Mobius brought to the table was a more philosophical narrative and the then-new "insecure main girl" who happens to become the most badass member of the team after an epiphany (Sailor Moon, Sakura Shinguji, etc.). In fact, upon watching the series, you may notice that the main girl's character arc is quite similar to that of Neo's in "The Matrix".

A Japan-only PS1 game video by Thor? I'm in heaven! Really wish these titles had translations, as we're missing a lot without them. May get that English PS4 Kowloon's Gate, although it seems like a markedly different game from the original, and I would actually prefer that. Apparently there was an English version in development, suggested by a trailer for it that appeared on a US games magazine demo disk, but was never completed.

It'd be a dream game to have an as close to 1-to-1 recreation of Kowloon as a fully explorable area, but until then, we have Kowloon's Gate! Thank you for showing me this. There is an english trailer for Kowloon's Gate. There has been said that an english version, or at least a demo, of the PS1 Kowloon's Gate is somewhere out there, and some person was said to once bought it in an auction. However none of that is confirmed true and proof of an english version to even exist is inconclusive.

Fantastic video as always! I like to learn about obscure and unique games but I don't look into the Japan only ones much as I get kinda sad I won't be able to properly appreciate them, so I never looked further than the box art for Boku No Yatsunasumi but that aesthetic was so well done, glad a 3DS game of theirs got localised, I think I'll pick it up now.

Have you ever played ParanoiaScape? I feel like you'd get a kick out of it Also the first game reminds me of what little I experienced of Everblue 2 for the PS2 (which was actually made by Arika of Street Fighter EX and Tetris Grand Master fame, and is also a spiritual predecessor to Endless Ocean)
boku no natsuyasumi is a straight up masterpiece. its audience is, of course, japanese people who can relate and feel nostalgic about such summer holidays, but it is a masterpiece nonetheless

I really love your vid about pc 98 by the way, it's my favorite
Boku looks amazing. I'm not for the slice of life thing all that much anymore, but it looks really good. Nice review.
my heart soared when you mentioned moon but then plummeted when you said boku no natsuyasumi wrong lmao. i can’t help but wonder how much more you’d appreciate these games if you put in the time to learn jp properly. i recently played through bokunatsu 1-4 and they were all an absolute blast
This is a pretty low bar for weird. There's some stuff on the PS1 that's nuts in compression.
Also had modded PS1s when I was a kid. It was actually the only way to play a lot of JRPGs cos no one ever imported them
Lmao! I've watched a few of your videos but this one made me subscribe!
Ahh the king of weird ass game reviews is back at it again.
Blue legend of water is easily searchable on russian torrents, btw. We have like 1 Tb worth of PS1 games for every region (so 3 Tb total, redump verified), so if you can't find what you looking for anywhere, chances are it exists there. Arr, preservation.
Was waiting for you to mention Boku no Natsuyasumi
Id you want an interesting insight/perspective on the Kowloon Walled City, read the book "City of Darkness"
What's about this book? Can you tell more about it?
great video, gotta say your editing has become next level bro, pretty fantastic stuff
Blue Legend of the Water got translated.
That first game is the most vaporwave thing i've seen
Underwater game looks awesome, for once the PS1's wobbly geometry is actually a selling point!
17:14 kowloon walled city was razed and turned into a park in 93' you can't 'actually' visit it because it 'actually' doesn't exist anymore.
The most aesthetically pleasing UA-cam channel award goes to Thor high heels
I was contemplating trying to watch the Silent Mobius anime at one point because of how neat the style was, I knew I recognised that shit from somewhere!
Have you ever played ParanoiaScape? I feel like you'd get a kick out of it
Also the first game reminds me of what little I experienced of Everblue 2 for the PS2 (which was actually made by Arika of Street Fighter EX and Tetris Grand Master fame, and is also a spiritual predecessor to Endless Ocean)
I've been waiting for the Linda Cubed translation since 2015...good luck
boku no natsuyasumi is a straight up masterpiece. its audience is, of course, japanese people who can relate and feel nostalgic about such summer holidays, but it is a masterpiece nonetheless
Kowloon walled city doesn't exist anymore, it was demolished in the 90s.
I legitimately want to play the last game. It reminds me of my memories growing up in a rural town.
