I have used EL for years but never knew EL wasn't cruelty free. I should have checked, and I'm mortified, so that's a game changer for me. I'm changing to CT after this. Thank you for the awareness 🙏
Thanks for the review Risa! I have found that the EL Double Wear still performs better and I have dry to combo skin. Works beautifully with their illuminating primer. I got my sample of the CT Foundation from a makeup artist at the Nordys in Irvine Spectrum that actually worked for her prior to her line being launched. He said Double Wear was Charlottes go to back then. I found that interesting being that her new foundation is so similar. He also said it’s even more like EL Double Wear Maximum coverage. She apparently really loved that one too. One thing that I always remember is that Double Wear is the #1 foundation still after all these years and is patented so of course other companies are going to try to create a similar product although in my opinion none has quite hit the mark. I don’t think the CT wore as long and for my dryer skin, it really emphasized the dryer areas. Also they do not recommend using a primer with the CT. Thank you again for the comparison!
So many people rave about the Estée Lauder double wear. So as someone who wants cruelty free I am all the excited about trying this Charlotte Tilbury foundation! Thanks Risa!
I think they are super similar too! The big difference for me is in removal. Double Wear is heavier on the skin and wants to stay put when you are cleansing so it takes more effort to make sure it’s removed completely. The Charlotte comes off like a dream! ❤️
I use a heavy duty makeup removing balm so thankfully the removal of the Double Wear has never been an issue for me. Now I want to do an experiment and see which one comes off easier with just a regular cleanser... 🤔
Thank you Risa for this review! Estee Lauder has been my primary foundation for a while now but I have been wanting to try something new & Charlotte Tilbury looks like it has a beautiful finish on you. Every time I read foundation reviews on Sephora, Ulta, Macy's etc, I get so confused like a dog chasing her tail. I appreciate your practical and helpful reviews.🌞
This was so helpful. Thank you for the honest review. I agree that the Estee Lauder is not a cakey foundation. It’s a godsend for oily skin people like me.
So glad you did this video! I’ve worn Double Wear for almost 20 years! I compare every foundation to my DW. I do like that the CT comes with a pump and that it’s cruelty free so I may just give it a Try!
Hi Risa As a microbiologist now in Beauty I would say to minimize those pores especially when you’re wearing make up using a charcoal mask either by Mary Kay or Vichy’s charcoal mask Is going to be the key to minimize your pores and control the oiliness so that there will be no foundation moving during the day. Remember that pours being enlarged is due to select their make up being trapped into those follicles and when it is not extracted i.e. with using activated charcoal or some mask can go deep below the surface, you’re going to have the pore issue. Great review
Before I bought Estee Lauder double wear I went into the store and they did a free color match and gave me a 10 day sample for free. There wasn’t any pressure to purchase. I got to make sure my color was right, and I got to see if I loved the product. I suggest everyone get a free 10 day sample first. If it’s not the right color they give you another 10 day sample. When I go on vacation I go and get a 10 day sample. That little sample bottle is perfect, it will last my whole vacation and I don’t have to worry about packing a big breakable bottle.
That is one of the great things about Sephora. I went to the Ulta store and just wasn't sure about 2 different foundations. I asked the young man if I could get a sample of each foundation so I could try them at home, sadly 😟 they don't give sample. BUT Risa, thank you for both tutorials, which were great and full of lots of very useful information. You are so Beautiful. As I look through the U-tube videos they post on my feed, I have to tell you how much your photos on each of your posts stand out, above ALL the others. Your so photogenic, which caught my attention. I thought for sure you must be a model and I wanted to see what your videos were about. I'm so glad I did. I Love your channel and I appreciate how you really explain Everything. My skin color is very close to yours which helps me tons when picking a foundation, but my undertone is a little bit different. I'm 58...ugh. It's not the age that I dislike, it's the things that happen to your skin...ugh 🤦. Myself, I don't think the Charlotte Tilbury foundation is really that expensive, (drugstore brands is what I think is overly priced $$$) but of course my husband definitely would, 🙄 but I don't have to tell him that 😉. Also, her packaging is always so pretty. I have her Airbrush Flawless Finish powder and I keep it in the box bc I don't want to scratch that pretty compact 😱 and I rarely use it because I don't want to disturb the pretty finish 🤗. Yes, I'm crazy, but I have been diagnosed with OCD 🙃. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not. It drives my family crazy 😵. Anyway, thank you again for another awesome video. 💗 Your the Best 💕
Wow this is my first time finding her channel- LOVE IT! She’s so thorough. You can tell she really is invested in what she does and she really loves this ☺️
Hi Lisa, this was a great comparison video! I was wondering if you could do a short video showing all the best techniques for applying a medium to full coverage foundation and how it’s different from a light to medium. That would be extremely helpful! 💜
I love both of them! So much! They are my go to. I will say Estée Lauder double wear stays on better with a mask if you wear one long periods of time like myself! They are both mask friendly!
Per the Estee Lauder site, the Double Wear color "Tawny" is 3W1 "Warm/Golden Undertone." Using the Sephora "Shade Finder" for the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation, the CT shade that matches the Estee Lauder Tawny shade is 5 Warm
My Double Wear spreads for me and I use only 1 pump. Double Wear is my favorite foundation. I recently bought a pump for my bottle to make application cleaner and easier, and I can control the amount which lets my makeup more dollar friendly. Double Wear doesn’t need a primer and it lasts all day on my skin. Estée Lauder has technology to color match. I don’t find anything compelling to make a change. FYI, a dermatologist told me to use Mineral Oil to take my foundation off followed by Dove Beauty a Bar. It works really well.
Oh how I wish the color matching technology actually worked! I’ve been “matched” to 4 different shades. Lol. The spreading differences could be because my bottle of EL is about a year old. I didn’t think of that at the time I did this video. 😕
Risa Does Makeup I use different shades in summer verses the other seasons, but I was lucky it nailed my color. Good thing Estee Lauder will give you a free 10 day trial sample to use before buying. By the way those samples are great to take on a trip, less space and they do last the entire week vacation.
I haven’t worn Double Wear before - probably the only person who hasn’t. Can you do a video on how to apply full coverage, since you mentioned application method is very important? Thanks Risa.
Zoink918 I’m not a fan of any of CT foundations. They just don’t last on me. I need foundation to go all day. That’s sometimes 12+ hrs. ELDW never lets me down. Stila’s hide and chic is also a favorite
That makes a REALLY good review compared to something a lot of people have. DW is an old favourite & I do compare any new foundation or samples I bring home against it. Estée Lauder continues to knock it out of the park. Estée DW is easier to get a sample to test a shade as well as wear, they’re good about samples. I have very allergic skin & Estée DW never ever bothers me. I have dry 63 year old skin & I use a Wayne Goss technique to apply DW over a ton of moisturizer and spf blending it into damp skin with my fingers.
Thank you so much for this video! I am a loyal ELDW girl and was curious. It's good to know because my conscience is bothered by Estee Lauder not being cruelty free. I have heard they are in the process of making it so but so far they have not. Come on Estee Lauder! Also I hate to buy a foundation online, such a hassle if it's the wrong color. That being said I will stuff this info in my mind for the future. Now off to see Micheles review since I am more normal to dry...Thanks again! :)
New subscriber here! 😊 Thanks for the update. I was going to try this one but I think I'll stick with the lighter coverage of her "Magic Foundation". Yay! You saved me some money, and after my Sephora Rouge haul, I'm sure my hubby thanks you too!
I can’t find anything better than DW for yearssss! I tried CT recently and I find that they are very similar but not exact. I still love DW more but CT is much comparable. Your review is great! Thank you!
Great comparison. I have worn the EL Double Wear for more than ten years and am very happy with it however was still curious about the Charlotte Tilbury. Thanks, I think I will try it!
Thank you so much, Risa! I've been a Double Wear user for a long time, but I've always wanted a pump included, and I wanted to it to be cruelty free. Now I know where to go to find my product! This was so helpful!
Risa, I love this video as a Double Wear lover I was very interested to see how the CT stacked up against it, so this was really great to watch. One thing to note about EL is that while u do have to buy the pump it is reusable and since U can remove the pump it does make the bottle recyclable! Thanks again, I always enjoy your point of view!
Thanks so much, Risa! I am a big fan of yours. Thanks for the interesting and informative review. I have dry skin but still enjoy Estée Lauder; however, I will try Charlotte Tilbury since you said it is cruelty free. That means a lot to me (and having skin care benefits is good as well). ❤️
Because of you and your videos -I’ve picked up amazing tips and products and my skin has never looked better (because of your Ordinary video) and of course your makeupartist tips have helped ..keep up the great work and know you’re appreciated...
Great Video Risa! Thank you so much! ELDW is my Holy Grail foundation after an almost 5 year search? I’m oily and 57 years old. My old go to for 20+ years stopped working for me about that time when menopause hit. And yes it was a learning curve with the ELDW. When I first applied I tried to do it like the other foundations and I too was cake face. I learned I only needed half of what I was used to applying. I would love to try this Charlotte Tilbury now too!!
I have been using EL for about 15 years now. I don't use it every day but whenever I need to go someplace special or am in the heat, I got to this. I got a trial sample and then went and purchased it. I have tried so many others but this is in the one that I always go to for staying power.
I really couldn't tell a difference between the two when you were wearing them. Maybe if you had done a close-up but they both looked great. I have a lot of trouble with applying liquid foundation. It always comes out looking terrible. Do you have a video on how to apply full coverage liquid foundation the RIGHT way? If not, could you do one please? As someone with mature skin I really need help! Thank you for all you do! ❤️
I now use double wear and have no complaints but was really wondering about the airbrush look of the ct foundation- read my mind! Thanks for all your honest reviews. Btw, I too have oily skin and if you haven’t tried it the Etude House mild airy sunscreen has been a god send!!! Never would I think a sunscreen would help control oil but this does it. Note: it did take a couple weeks for my skin to adapt as I did get a breakout or two. I kept using it because I loved it soooo much and my skin is fine with it.
Hi Risa, my double wear foundation is the best for full cover. I have a combination skin, and I don't have to set it with powder. I love your videos and channels. You are my favorite and respect your opinion. I love your honesty and you always look amazing.
Thanks for uploading! Was thinking about buying the ELDW for a full coverage foundation, but then the CT one dropped and there's so much hype around it. I appreciate this comparison, it's exactly what I was looking for
You should do a video on how to apply full coverage foundations. I have the double wear and I love it but my struggle is that I prefer to use a brush to apply because is faster in the mornings but I end up always having to blend with a sponge (I feel that the beauty blender application takes forever🤦♀️). Maybe I should try the sponge you use since is bigger. Where did you get it?
Risa, this video was invaluable!! Thank you so much for breaking it all down so clearly! I'm too dry for ELDW so I'm going to stick with my ELDW Light!
So thankful for this review!!! I absolutely love Estée Double Wear it’s my holy grail!! So you definitely read my mind on wether or not I should try this new foundation!!! Thank you very much!
Estée Lauder is not heavy or cakey but it sticks to the skin like paint and is difficult to remove but definitely is really a 24 hour wear doesn’t crease or budge ❤️ CT dissapers after saveral hours from the oily areas but still very comfortable to wear and easier to cleanse ❤️ so we need both
Thank you, Risa, for doing this comparison. I can't get Charlotte Tilbury in person, anywhere, where I live, so it's good to know I could get the same kind of effect, if I use the Estee Lauder, which I can get personally.
Great review. I have combo skin, I’ve been mixing the CT Hollywood Flawless filter with my EL Double wear. Love the finish look. I’m still going to purchase the CT foundation. Can’t wait! Btw I cannot tell the difference on you, both side look good.
Yes! You did a great job reviewing and demo👍👍👍 although I have seen CT sheared out ...probably still heavy for my preference..you wear them both beautifully😍CT shade selection is disopointing lacking cool tones and neutrals leaning too warm for fairest skin tones.😊
This is really great content. I always get caught up in the marketing that makeup companies use. I know lipstick I’m never going to stop buying but, like eyeshadow, mascara, concealers and foundation I don’t buy as much. I would be interested in watching videos like this , like hey you’ve already got this foundation don’t buy it or it’s amazing and worth you getting.
I just found your channel today thanks to Michelle Wang, and I subscribed immediately! Really appreciate your honesty and your talent! Even though I’m 33 with dry skin, I still learn a lot from your videos! ❤️
Thank you for the comparison, Risa. I thought I'd be a 6N in the CT looking online. I went to Nordstrom's and they suggested 4N. It was a perfect match. I have mature, combination skin and this foundation looked great. They suggested not using a primer and I wasn't oily after 6 hours. In using the sample, I used a less dense brush for a lighter coverage. It looked great and wore well.
laura Sutton Thank you for this Laura, this is a big help for me as I have combination skin and I am struggling to find a you tuber who has combination skin and has reviewed this! 👍🏻
This was really helpful. I like full coverage and have really oily skin, but the ELDB just doesn't work for me, so I really appreciate that you did the comparison.
Hi Risa...I can’t remember if I saw you review the The new Pretty Vulgar AF foundation it’s actually pretty good and stays all day. It looks better as you wear it also. Thanks for the review.
I am new to your channel but the topic was interesting to me and because I am a die hard Estée Lauder fan I really was curious to know which FOUNDATION was better.
This February we picked March Premium Choice 2022 was the CT Flawless Airbrush Foundation and Im so excited to try it! I was matched as 6N by the CT website because I use EL Double Wear in 3.5 Cashew and Mac Studio Fix in NC 30. The 6N looks lighter than those so I hope it works out on me. Thank you so much!
Love this video Risa. They both look great. I am the Estee Lauder lover. Just started using this year love it. I'm from Vegas living in Cali love your videos.
Thank you so much! I just received my CT and I can hardly wait to use it. I do like EL but I think the CT has a calling because of the skincare addition. Thanks 🙏
I have super oily skin and Estee Lauder DW is the ONLY foundation, among both high end and drugstore/budget-friendly, that works to control my oils and is the most transfer-resistant (perfect for wearing a mask). After reading rave reviews about CT's Airbrush Flawless Finish Foundation, I decided to give it a try. I still prefer Estee Lauder DW but CT's foundation is a runner up for me. It works really well for my oily skin but I find the formula a little too "dry" and it can be difficult to blend out. You definitely have to work fast with CT's foundation. But, when applied and buffed out in thin layers, it does look FLAWLESS.
Thanks for the comparison. I ordered the CT after your first review. I'm totally an EL DoubleWear user. Must say I'm a little concerned about the color that I may end up with. Sounds like now I'll have 2 favorites. Again, thanks for your honest opinion.
I got color matched for Estée Lauder in store, and Charlotte Tilbury matched my color based off that, I’m also tawny in Estée Lauder which equaled a 5 warm. I got it today so I will see how it goes!!! Thanks for the video!!
Great video! Very helpful as always. I have dry combination skin and double wear is my favorite foundation so I can’t wait to try the CT one. Love that it comes with a pump. Side note, would love to see more tutorials from you. Thanks again! You’re awesome!!
Such a great idea for a foundation comparison.. the double wear wears a little heavy on my skin so I'm really curious how this turns out. Thanks for a great video, ok, now I need to finish watching🤣❤
I love the estee lauder double wear! Have for years. I try tons of foundations and always go back to that one. Ive wanted the CT foundation, I talked myself out of it cause I dont need any foundations really. But now you have talked me back into it lol. It looks gorgeous on you! ...... Also I just noticed how many subs you have now! Congrats! So happy for you! You deserve and should have so many more! And I think you will have soon. But good job!!!
I won’t wear DoubleWear because of Estée Lauder’s animal testing practices but it always sounded like the right foundation for me so I am excited for an alternative. But i just bought the Pat McGrath foundation so it will be awhile before I check out the Charlotte Tilbury. Thank you for this review. It is a great format
I love the concept of this video! It's so hard to know what to buy and I don't want to buy everything! What's on your cheeks in the final thoughts, they look so glowy but not too blingy-- makes your skin look great!
I have used EL for years but never knew EL wasn't cruelty free. I should have checked, and I'm mortified, so that's a game changer for me. I'm changing to CT after this. Thank you for the awareness 🙏
Double Wear is the best foundation in the universe 🥰🥰 I’ve been wearing it for the last 15 years everyday and so far can’t be dethroned.
I keep trying new ones. I have around 25 now lol. None can beat it. I don't know why I keep trying.
YES!
Agree but they use parabens and I use too and its toxic
Fact! Hands down.
Exactly. The CT made me orange and dry.
Thanks for the review Risa! I have found that the EL Double Wear still performs better and I have dry to combo skin. Works beautifully with their illuminating primer. So many people rave about the Estée Lauder double wear. So as someone who wants cruelty free I am all the excited about trying this Charlotte Tilbury foundation! Thanks Risa!
Eldw has been my go to for over a decade. I have never found any other foundation that matches and well, lasts as long and looks as beautiful.

Michele Wang but does DW work for dry skin?CT works well on my dry skin.
@@lulorraine2533 Yes I have dry skin and moisturize before I apply. It's perfection.
French Vanilla Thanks!
So glad you did this video! I’ve worn Double Wear for almost 20 years! I compare every foundation to my DW. I do like that the CT comes with a pump and that it’s cruelty free so I may just give it a Try!

Risa, could you teach us how to apply full coverage foundation? You are so good at explaining techniques. I learned how to do winged liner from you!
Perfect comparison...love that you covered all topics like Cruelty free, Flashback, pores and oiliness etc. which I find crucial knowing about
Before I bought Estee Lauder double wear I went into the store and they did a free color match and gave me a 10 day sample for free. There wasn’t any pressure to purchase. That is one of the great things about Sephora. I went to the Ulta store and just wasn't sure about 2 different foundations. I asked the young man if I could get a sample of each foundation so I could try them at home, sadly 😟 they don't give sample.

Dibright Department stores will also.
I just got a sample from ulta of the double wear actually. Love it
Thank you for mentioning that CT is cruelty free! 🐹🚫. That was a deciding factor for me 🙌🏼
me as well!!!
And parabens free
Exactly!!!!!!!
Yes 🙌
Wow this is my first time finding her channel- LOVE IT! She’s so thorough. You can tell she really is invested in what she does and she really loves this ☺️

Great idea!
Her name is actually Risa ...
I knew that!! 😂 Sorry Risa!! 💜💜
Great video! One other reason people might prefer the CT is because it seems you don’t need to use as much product as the DW.
Michele Wang sent me here and I'm so glad she did
You've answered my exact question - I use Estee Lauder Double Wear but want to switch to a cruelty free brand, so this looks perfect :) Thank you!
I love both of them! So much! They are my go to. I will say Estée Lauder double wear stays on better with a mask if you wear one long periods of time like myself! They are both mask friendly!

I'm really like the EL side more than the CT side. I try other foundations, but ALWAYS come back to my EL DW. Ty for your time and review. 🙌😁

That makes a REALLY good review compared to something a lot of people have. DW is an old favourite & I do compare any new foundation or samples I bring home against it. Estée Lauder continues to knock it out of the park.

I would like to try those foundations but I like more the look of the EL Double Wear more. Thank you for this comparison.
This was one of your best videos! I just found it. Loved the candid approach- please do more of these!
Thank You for doing this. I do love Double Wear. When I run out I'll buy the CT, because of it being cruelty free and the skin care.
Watch how much it oxidizes and is orangey.
OMG. This is the video which all oily skin people longed for. Thank you Thank you Thank you

This is the best review for the comparison factor of both - thank you!
Hi Risa, my double wear foundation is the best for full cover. I have a combination skin, and I don't have to set it with powder. I love your videos and channels. You are my favorite and respect your opinion. I love your honesty and you always look amazing.
I think the este launder side looks the best 🥰👍🏼
Love it! 10.30 early? Girl I’m getting my cup of tea and book and heading to bed at 9! 🤣 great review x
Lol...Im the same way. I need my sleep.
Thanks for uploading! Was thinking about buying the ELDW for a full coverage foundation, but then the CT one dropped and there's so much hype around it. I appreciate this comparison, it's exactly what I was looking for
Thanks for the great review. I haven’t tried the CT yet. I just hope I ordered the right shade. You are so kind and very caring.
You sold me on that sponge 🧽😃 just placed an order for it from the link you provided in your description box 😊 thank you for the review too btw!
Thanks for this great review on the new Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless makeup!! I also have oily skin so I will try it❤️
Thank you for the comparison, I was on the fence with these.
My best is Double Wear. It has been for ages, & it's the best foundation for me. 😍😍
The comparison we have all been waiting for!! Thank you!!
Estée Lauder is not heavy or cakey but it sticks to the skin like paint and is difficult to remove but definitely is really a 24 hour wear doesn’t crease or budge ❤️ CT dissapers after saveral hours from the oily areas but still very comfortable to wear and easier to cleanse ❤️ so we need both
What do you use to remove the foundation when you wear Estee Lauder?
@@nusratarahossain3878yo me lo quito con aceite de coco y un gel limpiador y adiós base
Very helpful review! It’s great to see a comparison with the new foundation and a product that’s been out for a long time. Amazing they look the same!
Great video with all the comparison
ELDW is great but sometimes when I want to abit of concealing with another concealer, it just comes off when I’m trying to blend.
Truth. Love it. I am wanting to try so many. I need to get samples. I have more mature skin and it’s hard to say. Love that you did this !! Love you
Great comparison. Love your eye makeup
Thank you!
Excellent video! Great comparison
Thanks Risa! ELDW is my holy grail... I always love comparisons to it... I will definitely check CT out... ❤❤
Best review I have seen.. great job..
Loved this comparison to something I already know and love. Thank you!
Katelyn Rogers me too cz I have both now
Thank you that was a great Review ! I love you Channel I don't miss watching a review. You give tips. Thank you again . Marcy
Super awesome review👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Thank you Risa😘❣️
I just bought ELDW for the first time. I wish I had seen this video a couple hours ago. Darn! I’ll try the CT next time. Thanks for this.
Excellent follow up video, excellent comparison.
This was a great way to review this Risa!!! I’m trying it tomorrow! I love the dw! I hope I love this too! Xoxoxo
The double wear looks really good
I am new to your channel but the topic was interesting to me and because I am a die hard Estée Lauder fan I really was curious to know which FOUNDATION was better.
Risa.....I love your honest reviews.
Lisa, thanks for the comparison. I use the Lancôme foundation, but may give one of these a try. Your skin looked radiant on both sides. 💕🌸💕
Thank you so much! I just received my CT and I can hardly wait to use it. I do like EL but I think the CT has a calling because of the skincare addition. Thanks 🙏
Very nice comparison video. Thanks Risa!
Hi Risa, thank you for another great video! I just received my Charlotte Tilbury today and cannot wait to try it. 💖💖
Thanks for the comparison. I ordered the CT after your first review. I'm totally an EL DoubleWear user. Must say I'm a little concerned about the color that I may end up with. Sounds like now I'll have 2 favorites. Again, thanks for your honest opinion.
I have tried both. I don't think the CT shades are "too yellow" for me. I am 2C3 in EL. 5 in CT. Always looking for a HG foundation!!! Thanks for this
I got color matched for Estée Lauder in store, and Charlotte Tilbury matched my color based off that, I’m also tawny in Estée Lauder which equaled a 5 warm.
Great Video Risa
The only difference I see is that CT has a satin finish and the EL is fully matte.
I was wearing Jouer blush duo in Rosegold.
Risa Does Makeup no way! I just bought that, maybe I'll work with it a bit more, it looks stunning on you!
