I enjoyed this video, i have numerous stihl saws but my go to is my ms 291 , i followed your video to a tee , i ended up put a 3/8 sprocket and a 25" bar with a full skip tooth , and this thing freaking ripes through the wood , thanks for the video again, it really needed to breathe and get some fuel. We have a local sunco gas station that sells 93 octane with no ethanol and mixed it 45/1 . Completely different saw now .
Bless you Bellhopper for sharing your exciting life with us:) This is a great place to get a well-rounded power saw education for everyone:) Bless you and your family!!!
Always great watching you work and the great commentary. Stay well, I too have a bad back (lumber region) my osteopath really gives me relief. Kindest regards from Bonnie Scotland. Joe.
Runnin great now but what makes the 291 prone to run lean ? Sorry to hear yur back cuttin up my sciatica tearin me up for 2 months now . Merry Christmas an Happy Holiday season to you an your family Bellhopper
Hi, learned something on how to improve the intake and muffler on this particular saw. Couldn't really see how you adjusted the air and idle screws, would like to know how you do this properly for optimal performance, let me know if you would? Can tell you have fixed A WHOLE LOT of saws in your shop there! Like how you kept all the parts free of small debris in the process! Have always used Stihl myself. Let me know? Thanks
Geetings Bellhopper! Thanks for your video. I also have a 291 that fryed the piston and barrel. Picked it up for a case of beer. Can't seem to find replacement aftermarket parts for it. Just wondering if another model barrel would fit without putting another carb on it or muffler? Or just that. What do you think. Would appreciate what your thoughts are. Heal that back of yours.
Isn't there a baffle inside the muffler chamber that will restrict the air flow even though you opened up the manifold intake which occurs before the interior baffle?
I've been waiting for this ms291 mod. I've been worried about this saw running too lean before the mod. So now that's you've opened up the muffler, how's she cut??
Hi Jeremy!!😀😀 What size socket does it take to get the air intake off. I need to get it off my 261 and am going to have to slim down the socket for it to fit and need to know what size socket I need to do it to. Take care my friend!!😀😀 Logger Al
Thanks for the video, I was about to scrap my 291. Were you kidding when you said you had a non stratified engine? From what I’m reading they are all scavenging models
I looked you up because I need my 291 loved on, I was hoping you were close, you’re in my back yard. I’ll be getting with you and trying to see you real soon sir!

I have a feeling mine is to lean
Reves like fk on the limiter
I was going to run non ethanol 100 octane
Ahhh the ole 291. Fun times. I like how I’m not the only one who struggles putting the top cover back on it
Bless you Bellhopper for sharing your exciting life with us:)

I absolutely lost it when Hopper drop a drill bit on the plastic things on the fuel make-it-happener. 🧡👍🏼🔥👊🏼

Have a pair of MS 391 strato saws. Would like to see what you do with those carburetors. Very small passage through the carburetor intake.
Always a great a good video buddy thanks and take care
Geetings Bellhopper!

Heal that back of yours.
The issue with my 291 is it never seems to oil enough. Ended up drilling out the holes on the bar a bit an thinning the oil a little.
I drilled mine 1/2 inch at the front top and put a deflector on it.

I cant rember if there is or not but if there is i cut them out also
Im definitely doing these mods now. 😊
What do you mean by Strato or non strato?? I have an MS251c. Not modified yet except for a slightly mod’s muffler.
I bought a aftermarket muffler for my 046 magnum. I know you have to richen up the fuel do to high I flow muffler. How do I do that?
Looks like you got it going
Did I miss tuning the carb ??
I've been waiting for this ms291 mod. I've been worried about this saw running too lean before the mod. So now that's you've opened up the muffler, how's she cut??
Im gona run it next week and see how it does
@@bellhoppersaws how do you rich up the carb
What was your approximate adjustment for the carb?

Hey buddy you can use a 5/16 or 8mm they bout the same
@@bellhoppersaws Thanks buddy @@
Hey buddy how's it going? That's an awesome saw you have there LOL I have one just like it
I personally think that Stihl saws have the worst mufflers. I’ve modified mine twice, still don’t flow good, I’m gunna build a pipe for it.
All the improvement lol
Hey buddy email me your number jeremebell11@gmail.com
Ha! My drill bit fell?!?!?!?!👍👍👍👍
What's happening at 6:55? What did you remove or drill into?
Bellhopper can u port the ms291? I'm wanting to get mine ported
Does muffler mods need a screen? I'm thinking of tacking one on just incase I need to remove it for cleaning
Which country are you from?
Thanks for the video, I was about to scrap my 291. Were you kidding when you said you had a non stratified engine? From what I’m reading they are all scavenging models
No buddy there are 2 kinds a bolt on intake and a clamp on and the clamp on is non strato charged
How do you tell if it's a strato ?
Would you be interested in working on a 028 wood boss
Im thinking about doing a base gasket delete on my ms291. Is it a good mod to do on this make of stihl?
Mine was given to me locked up after less that a year and a half. Trashed the bottom end. Thats why I didnt port it any wilder.
Good grief, @ 22:52! Dangerous Man! At least from the vantage point of watching the video.
What do you mean by strato and non strato how do I tell
Non strato has just a open intake port and the strato has an intake port and 2 air ports in the intake ill make a video soon and show it buddy
😆 👍👍
I looked you up because I need my 291 loved on, I was hoping you were close, you’re in my back yard. I’ll be getting with you and trying to see you real soon sir!
