    I got my clip in on mine; I used a pair of small, ( approx. 6" long), locking, straight forceps. I first tied the hair pin clip with a long piece of cotton string - in case I dropped it, then, pushed it in with the forceps and then reached in and cut the string and knot off with a pair of forceps type scissors. Done. It was pretty easy. Oh, I forgot to mention, I ground the heat sink "fins" off the side pan cover with a 7" angle grinder disc and hand files, to allow me to open it up another 1/2" or so more, allowing me to visualize the "slot" under that 10 mm bolt head located off to the right side of it a little bit where the hair pin goes in. It helped alot.

      No, tcc would not cause that. Extremely low Trans fluid, a clogged transmission filter, or a burnt up pump would. 🤔 . I suppose if other solenoids went bad aswell it may cause it. Or other bad electrical components within or leading to may aswell. But in my experience, "slipping" or failure to engage is usually mechanical or fluid related. Sorry for the late response.

    So if im having transmission problems but no codes or check engine light is coming up fluid is brand new and pan was dropped but still found metal chunks in pan what do u do ? Well i know what to do but dont know what to look for to replace or rebuild or should I just get a whole new transmission installed my 2003 sts only has 99k on her

    • @justinblasier3568
      @justinblasier3568  2 роки тому

      Sorry it took some time to reply. It depends on the issues. Metal shaving is a a normal thing in a auto transmission. That's the reason for the filter and magnet in the pan. As for a rebuild, that depends on your level of confidence and knowledge if you are looking to go at it solo. Best bet if you decide to go that route is to have the money for a new one set aside just in case. But online usually you can find rebuild kits with common wear and tear parts in it. Groves in plates and slop in bearings are sign of needing replacement and shift solenoids I repace on a rebuild regardless. Take pictures, look up torque specs for bolts, and everything goes back together in reverse of disassembly. Also a "burnt" smell and darkness in transmission fluid is a sign of failure. But most common problems start with a bad trans filter. It plugs up choking out the fluid pump and causes low pressure witch in turn burns stuff up due to slipping. Bad solenoids will cause that as well but usually come with a code. But if the battery was reset " un hooked and hooked back up". Or died, it will erase codes until it registers the drive cycle count that it takes to run that monitor. May be more info than you need, but better than not enough.

    Did you have to replace the tcc because of engine overheating. My obd says that is what is causing my over heating problem. But uncertain why that would be.

    • @justinblasier3568
      @justinblasier3568  4 роки тому

      Most common problem with overheating is low coolant. Not tranny issues. But I owned a 01 and 03 deville both purchased used with overheating issues, the people did radiator, thermostat, checked fan, water pump etc. What I found is the reservoir doubles as a expansion tank and the gasket on my caps "both of them " went bad. New caps and problem solved. That's where I would start. If you have leaks try to trace it back and repair. And if its 2000 or older the northstar v8s were know for head gasket failure due to the head bolts being too short. There is a few other things I can point you too, but not without knowing what car it is. But as for the transmission causing overheating, no not unless you driving 50 mph in first gear with the rps pegged out. Lol

    • @rickflaten3494
      @rickflaten3494 4 роки тому

      @@justinblasier3568 yes it is a 2000 I thought maybe it was a thermostat or water pump issue one being when the car is hot I squeezed the radiator hose that goes to thermostat and the hose is hard and can't push coolant back through but the only time it really gets hot is when I'm going over 60 in town driving seems to be just fine this is why I'm stumped on what the obd code for overheating is.

      @@rickflaten3494 judging by the stiff hose I'd go tward thermostat then, not aware of a code for overheating, usually just a warning bell. Also there is a line that removes air that comes from but the thermostat too the expansion tank. Its about the size of a pencil where it is steel and rubber on either side. That line gets rusty on the inside " sometimes". Causing excessive air in the system. It's just under the northstar cover on the motor. But a stiff rad hose poits to restricting flow. Witch would explain light driving being fine, but highway driving 60+ not letting it circulate fast enough. " if it were me, I'd jump on that thermostat". Start cheap. But when you get in the car "if yours doesn't have a tachometer " you can keep a eye on the rpms by hitting the info button and pulling up the digital tach in the info section.

      Apologies for the delay, "usually" the clip will fall out the bottom of the pan with some shaking around. Rest the front cradle on 4 jack stands "1 in each corner" and unbolt the cradle and jack the car up off the cradle. With a tall jack in either side. "Jack points under front doors. Go slow to not break or crack anything and unhook everything I needed to get the clearance to get that pan off and out of the way. Fix and reassemble slow and steady. Thanks for watching.
