Really enjoyed the video Christie. Nice to see the speed, power, HR and elevation overlays. Very helpful. Well done on your podium finish. I felt proud!
Great recap! Glad we were able to pace together for much of the race. Super finish for ya! Keep getting stronger and I'll try to hold onto your wheel next year...
Nice to see race footage! Looks like it was a great day to race. Appreciate you being open about stomach issues. I was supposed to do the Rattler, but doubt that will happen. Thanks for posting videos, it helps pass time on the trainer and enjoy picking up tips too. Stay healthy
Thanks for watching! I figured we all deal with stomach issues from time to time, no reason to hide it. If you don't train the gut it's definitely something that can factor into your race! I'll go back to the Rattler one day I feel like, would love to see it's new venue.
I would have been intimidated too if I saw people I’m racing against taking “pulls”. I have just recently started to gauge my strength on mph. When I saw you holding 20, eating a GU, in a headwind, I was like “DAMN”! You are a killer Christie. Those winter miles are really showing through.
Thanks for watching! My bike is a 2020 Trek Checkpoint SL7 that is setup stock except that I've converted it to tubeless. It is running the stock Bontrager GR1 40cm gravel tires still and sealed with the Bontrager sealant. I ran 36 psi in the front and 38 psi in the rear. The SL7 comes with SRAM groupset in "mullet mode" meaning it has a 42t road chainring in the front and the SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS rear derailleur with 10-50t cassette. Love this setup!
Impressive time, great ride! I crashed on the loose gravel on the descent coming off the Trail of Tears ridge, but fortunately no damage. You're right about the flat/levy portion - definitely benefitted from being in a group but still had to work to stay in the pack. Great footage!
That was probably my least favorite part of the course. That section made me glad we prerode the course. Sorry to hear about the crash, hope it wasn't too bad!
Excellent video. I did this race as well...my first gravel race and loved it. Doing the April Fools Gravel Race on the 4th and then DK200 at the end of May--hopefully we'll get through this Covid19 stuff and they won't be canceled. That hill you had to walk was a killer--I walked it as well and it reminded my lower back that it was 60 years old by the time I got to the top :-) Liked your GoPro footage...was it mounted on a backpack strap or the handlebar?
GoPro was on the handlebar. You have an awesome season planned out! I hope you're able to do all those events! I'll be at the April Fool's ride as well and really looking forward to it! Gravel racing is so much fun! 👍
Awesome on 3rd! Great recap-- for a first race of the season you played your strategies right knowing your strengths, tactics and nutrition. Good pressing on without Kevin and just keep pedaling!
nice job! doing my first gravel race end of April the paris2ancaster race. 75km, looking forward to it... my only goal is just finish it in a reasonable time... no concerns about anything beyond that.
@@ChristieBrinker aaaaaand they just cancelled it because of covid-19.... damnit... trying to convince my buddy to just do a gravel fondo of our own that day now
Whooo hoooo! Great job! Good job on the power and elevation overlay again. I know that's a pain to edit. Haha. Beautiful scenery and great weather! So nice! So how are you feeling about top tube storage for your food? You did back pocket storage this race, yeah? Congrats on getting the podium! :-D
I was able to do back pockets because I got to use lighter gloves, BUT I'm totally getting a new top tube bag for storage. I think for gravel it just simplifies life and having food handy is a necessity especially with some of these sketchy gravel roads!
Congrats on 3rd, and your lucky you get to compete. I have been training like never before through this winter for an event in late April. And the way things are going I don’t think it’s going to happen...🥺
I'm definitely using more of their products now but I'm trying to be more open about exactly what I'm using to fuel rides/races so it might seem that way for sure lol 🤣
Excellent first person recap of your race! Thanks for taking me along for the ride!
Thanks for watching!! 👍
Wow, so this is gravel racing. I keep hearing about it but never actually seen a race. Thanks for uploading this and congrats on a podium finish. 🏆
Check out the MidSouth Gravel race from this past weekend if you want to see real epic gravel racing lol. Thanks for watching!! 😁
I can’t believe I’m just seeing this! Great recap of a great ride. I’m looking forward to doing it again in a few days!
Really enjoyed the video Christie. Nice to see the speed, power, HR and elevation overlays. Very helpful. Well done on your podium finish. I felt proud!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much!!
Thanks for posting this recap! I'm super curious about trying out the gravel thing and I'm thinking this race could be in my future.
Oh for sure! It's an awesome route and a great event!
Great recap! Glad we were able to pace together for much of the race. Super finish for ya! Keep getting stronger and I'll try to hold onto your wheel next year...
The flat was unfortunate, was hoping to see you again but we had a lot of fun up until that point! Lol

This year they moved it to November, out you should still consider it.

That draft helped a ton! But I definitely felt good for the effort put out!
So cool to see the real time stats on the bottom of screen!
It can take a lot of work but it's worth it!
Great video!! This was my first gravel race.Very challenging but also very rewarding.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was a great event!
Wow! Very impressing effort. To survive a 100 miles race is already strong, but getting third is just mind blowing.
Thanks but it was only 64 miles! 😁
@@ChristieBrinker Didn't expect metric units :-D . Still a great ride!
Haha you're right by not expecting metric, I only used it because they use it in the race name 🤣
Congrats Christie! Great result and recap! 💪
Thank you!! 😁
WOW! Nothing short of amazing. I imagine you are becoming a marked rider. Great effort, your determination is impressive!
Thanks! Looking forward to more gravel racing in the distant future!
looks like my friend Shon Hargis was stealing your Kevin's wheel some. Awesome race report!!!
Haha yeah we all rode together for quite sometime!
Great job Christie. You earned it!
Thanks Andrew! 😁
Great show. The plan is coming together.
Thanks for watching! It felt good to get out and race!
Awesome video! If possible, can you provide information on your bike setup: tire choice, tire pressure, bike, etc? Thank you!

Nice video and great job!! Nice to ride with you some out there
Great job yourself! It was a great day for sure!
You are a great narrator of your videos. Great editing. I'm glad I found your channel by searching for information on the Varia RTL510. New sub.
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching! 👍
That was my teammate Tim Taylor you were working with at the 10 minute mark in your video. Great job💪
He helped us out a lot with some great pulls! 💪

Nice! I really admire the advancements you've made each year in fitness and performance. Some great riding in Southern Illinois.
Thanks Carlos! It is a nice area to ride for sure! Hope all is well 🤘

Thinking about doing this race in 2022. Looks fun. What tires did you use? Any changes if you did the race again ?
Congrats! 3rd is awesome for your 1st gravel race.
It was a lot of fun, can't wait for more! Thank you!

Nice effort out there ! Great riding !
Thanks!! When is your next race?
Christie Brinker I am not sure yet. Several are being canceled over this corona virus emergency
Congratulations on the 3th place. Super.
Thanks!!
Congrats!
Thanks! 👍
what app /software doing you use to put metric graphics over layer on your vids??
I used the Garmin Virb Edit software. It's free and works with any video footage not just their cameras!
Cool race and congrats. Sucks Kevin got a flat but that is how it goes sometimes.
Yup, he would have finished with me based on his moving time!
Congratulations. you have very beautiful views.
Thank you! It's definitely a beautiful area!
btw
enjoi every coming race because here in europe will be/or is/ NO race for us all /profi and hobby too/
So crazy! Things are going to be crazy the next few months but hopefully we all get through it!
dang, love your videos but it sure seems you sold out to GU
