Gels are my go to for energy. I've used GU in the past, but use Hammer now. Once I found my flavor, I buy the large bottle (cheaper than individual packs) and use a flask to carry the gel. I do sometimes carry the individual packs. I also use the Hammer bars and I like the Larbars, which cost half the price of those other energy bars, but don't taste like a block wood with mud on it. Carb up.
Great video Christie and, wow, first comment! Yay! I use GU gels for the most part in my races. Like the fact the GU citrus options are low acidity...don't catch the back of your throat i.e. lemon lime for example. I think the Liquid Energy might also be a good option for winter races especially when gels become cumbersome.
Sorry for the late posts, I usually watch you videos for indoor training and it's been great riding weather for the past few months. Anyways, I tend to use Skratch bars and chews with a quest bar for protein. Have also tried built bar gu but it's thick.. Don't know how you eat pop tarts, I used to love them, but at age 52, they no longer love me. Thanks for showing GU products, maybe for next year's endurance races I'll hit you up for reconditions.🚵💪
Great video. You prompted me to buy a sample pack - 4 packs of each flavor. Just water for anything under 2 hours. 2 - 4 hours I'll have one or two GU. Over 4 hours GU and maybe a Cliff bar or pop-tart.
Thanks, I eat pop-tarts on longer rides, too. 👍 Nice to know I'm not alone! Also, Snickers or a PB&J. Not a big gel fan (sticky, pricey, and can upset my stomach), but I'll check out the liquid GUs.
I do a homemade version of Ted King's energy. Strong espresso coffee mixed with pure maple syrup. Mix 1 ounce maple syrup to 5 ounces of espresso coffee in a small water bottle.
Hi Christie. Great videos, they have convinced me to make a mountain biking trip to "Land Between the Lakes" in the next month. Which is the best campground to stay at?
Thanks! Lots of people pick the Hillman's Campground. It's very close to the North / South trail. You can ride it about 4-5 miles north and be on the Canal Loop trail (also good riding). I have personally never camped in LBL besides in a tent in a random backwoods spot so I can't really make a personal recommendation. I hope you enjoy your trip!
Thanks!! I've been trying to maintain around 121. Had a pretty successful winter in the terms of weight loss and now I'm just trying to fuel and maintain and find the balance 💪
Hope all is well! Enjoyed watching your videos. They were always really creative and interesting! Hope to see you back in action 👍
Those dogs whining when you were leaving. Sad. Hilarious! Love your sense of humour.
Basset hounds not only look sad 24/7, but they also sound sad lol.
Yes! Love the music, thanks so much!

I love larabars! Love that some of them are like 3-4 ingredients

Didn't think about the winter idea! Definitely could be useful!

Let me know how you like it! Seems like pop tarts are more popular for ride fuel than I thought! Lol
I’ve been loving Untappd’s stuff plus some Larbars
Does it seem weird just taking a shot of maple syrup? Lol
Have small gel flasks that I fill up that makes it easy to consume and less mess. Dig the note to self.
I'm not a huge flask fan because I like to use a couple different flavors. But the flask would be so much easier
@@ChristieBrinker You sparked an idea, mix different flavors together. For science!

Pop Tarts, PBJ, Snickers are definitely all on my list of favorites! I like to throw in a PB Snickers too

Wow that's a cool mix!

Your story is amazeballs Christie, keep smashing it, UK "Ride it like you stole it"🥑🥝🍌🍇🍓
Met RX protein bars from Walmart, 47 grams of carbs,30 grams of protein
Combination of waffles to gels with drinks
Waffles are delicious! 🤤
I thought The GU liquid energy gels were isotonic meaning you didn’t need to consume water, Yes or No? Thank you! Happy Trails. : )
They don't say anything about being isotonic and the website does state you should hydrate while using them. Thanks!
NUUN sugar+water. GU gels. Stroop waffels
Hey, what happened to you? Where are you?
You look really lean! What is your bodyweight at now?
Thanks!! I've been trying to maintain around 121. Had a pretty successful winter in the terms of weight loss and now I'm just trying to fuel and maintain and find the balance 💪

@@ChristieBrinker no i put sugar or jam on.👍
