    Part list for counter pressure bottling with a picnic tap:
    Tube that fits the picnic tap. For me a normal beer line works fine.
    A rubber/plastic cone shaped kork with a hole it that fits the tube and that fits your bottle. The small end of the kork needs to be narrower than the bottle opening and the bigger end of the kork needs to be wider than the bottles opening.

    Best, most informative brewing since original BrewingTV (with Mike, Jake and Chip)!! Too many people on YT over complicating the hobby, lusting over overpriced gear, and regurgitating received wisdom without testing it. Love your work mate!

    Dr Hans I have just started brewing but I only brew with pre kit only beers for the moment. I brew in the fermzilla.
    I was so daring if you could possibly do a kit video so as to show me if I'm doing everything right.

    • @liamcrosby9778

      @@DrHansBrewery i mean the ones where the wort is in a tin and you simply add malt and water and then the yeast.
      I was hoping you could do a video on how to get the very best out of such a kit and what you can do to make them a little tastier.
      Thanks for the reply, hope you can help.

    It isn't really counter pressure filling in the beginning as even though you've blasted a little CO2 in before filling, it is at ambient pressure of 1ATM and the pressure only really starts as it fills up. Curious to try if it helps reduce the head / foaming at the beginning of the pour. Thanks!

    • @DrHansBrewery
      @DrHansBrewery  10 місяців тому

      Yes you're right, but the pressure builds up fast in the bottle. The blast of CO2 is to scrub the bottle of oxygen. It has nothing to-do with pressure. Cheers

    first of all, thanks for the video, I have an idea that I want to try out, and I would like you to give me an opinion.
    In principle the workflow should be like this, primary fermentation is done in a plastic conical fermentor, where after cold crashing it with glycol immersion chiller, I would transfer Beer with a pump to a pressurised stainless steel vessel (custom made Brite essentially),
    but in between I would be transfering the beer through a
    1st chiller with a copper coil dropping the temp to 2C,
    2nd Filter (made from inline single pass water filter) and in the end
    an inline carbonator.
    After complete transfer from Primary, i would reattach the hose from the primary to the Brite's OUT and recirculate until reaching equilibrium.
    This is basically the same principle as if I am using a keg, so please answer, your advice and opinion would be helpful.
    The tank is 200l capacity, don't know empirical measure, I live in Europe :D
    best regards, George

    Hi Dr. Hans, great video! why did you build the picnic tap in that way? with the thin line? (minute 2:36)

    • @DrHansBrewery
      @DrHansBrewery  5 років тому

      The thin line is for balancing the system. Instead of a longer normal line.

    DrHans, My biggest question. Does the tubing fit inside the faucet, our does it fit on the outside? it's hard to tell in the video.

  • @samppas4404
    @samppas4404 6 років тому +1

    May I ask, what are those John Guest(?) fittings from the 3/16 small beer line to the picnic tap barb connection? Part numbers / names?

  • @andersdammensgard7257
    @andersdammensgard7257 3 роки тому

    Great video!
    How do you avoid oxygen creeping into the tubing? I imagine when filling the first part of the bottle the oxygen which entered the tubing after removing it from the sanitizer will mix with the beer and oxidize it. What do you think?

    • @DrHansBrewery
      @DrHansBrewery  3 роки тому +1

      Its all about doing the best you can to keep oxygen out. This way isn't perfect, but it's so much better than a lot off alternatives.

  • @JasonUnterman
    @JasonUnterman 6 років тому +1

    Great video. I tried to make something like this a while back but when i was filling it, i guess i wasn't holding the plug hard enough and beer went all over the place. I haven't tried since then. Now after watching this, I think I will try it again.
    One question, do you lower the psi on the keg and purge the co2 in it, or do you just use whatever it was set on to carb?
    Thanks!

    • @DrHansBrewery
      @DrHansBrewery  6 років тому

      Jason Unterman Try it again. It's very simple. Something most have gone wrong. Try with the regulator at around 1.5bar. Wouldn't go under one bar.

    • @JasonUnterman
      @JasonUnterman 6 років тому

      Ahh. I saw the other comment about .5 and 1 bar, but wasn't sure what that was. Now i realize its the keg's pressure. Why wouldn't you go lower? Afraid it would affect the carb of the beer?
