  • Here is a short clip from Day 8 of the 2021 Scooter Cannonball Run on our way from Rock Springs, WY to Delta, UT. The road leading into this area was several miles of treacherous gravel, so we were relieved to be back on the blacktop finally!
    The little Super Cub handled very well despite hauling an 85-pound trailer behind it. If it only had about 5 more HP, it would have been able to carve those twisties even better!
    Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    All I could think of was “I bet his ass is super sore. “ I’ve been on that road but in the comfort of my Dodge truck. Huge KUDOS to Quasi for the will to overcome. 😊😁👍

    Great footage, this is my neighborhood, have done this ride on my Trail 125 and had a blast. Got caught in a wicked down pour, waited it out under the rock overhang at 7:38. Wish I could have met you guys on your way through.

      I really enjoyed Wyoming and Utah during our Scooter Cannonball Ride. It would have been great to meet up with people along our route, but the schedule was hectic. Our Cubs were only averaging 53-55 MPH while pulling those trailers, so we arrived at the finsh line very late each evening.
      I'll try to remember to drop you a note if/when I head back out your direction. The roads out there are fantastic... minus the horrible gravel road preceeding this video clip... that reallly sucked a**. Stay tuned for some of that footage in my Scooter Cannonball videos that I'll be uploading soon. Cheers! 😉👍

      @@QuasiMotard I had to work that day or I would have kept an eye out for you. I know that gravel road well! Lol. Definitely look me up. I'll do the same if I ever make it your way. Planning on picking up a 22 Super Cub this spring. Looking at TX or Midwest for a fly and ride. Look forward to seeing the rest of your trip. Enjoying the vids very much!

      @@zamdrang That road sucked double because we were hauling the trailers behind us. The Super Cubs' skinny little street tires really hate loose surfaces... they just dig in like plow wheels and cut 45° with zero warning. We endured ~500 miles of gravel hell on that trip, but we'd still do it again. We'll make a few adjustments for the next cross-country adventure on the Cubs, that's for sure! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

      There were several absolutely gorgeous stretches of road during this trip. I'm digging through my video footage to create clips of my favorite spots, and those will be short videos like this. The full episodes will be coming soon, and I'll try to keep those under 45 minutes each unless I get special requests for full-length videos. I'll take some polls to get a feel for what people would prefer... short vs long, compressed w/ music vs road sounds only, etc. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    Yay...more Super Cub! The only scooter/bike that matters! Still have that lousy sounding exhaust?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 роки тому

      The SP Takegawa P-Shooter is still on the bike, but not for much longer. I will be sending the P-Shooter and the OEM exhaust to Coffman's Exhaust in California so they can use them as a pattern to make a custom exhaust for me. The OEM unit is great, IMHO... I only swapped the exhaust so the trailer could fit on the Cub. I expect the Coffman's "custom" shorty to sound very good, but it certainly won't be as quiet as the OEM muffler. I plan to sell or scrap the P-Shooter, and the Coffman's will probably be a standby for trailer use. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

      @@QuasiMotard haha..I thought maybe you mentioned getting rid of the P-shooter earlier and when I watched this I thought "nope. It's still there". Just love your travels on that little bike. No challenge on a 375cc or bigger.

    Great scenery! What was the temperature like during the ride?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 роки тому +1

      We got lucky through most of the sections that would normally be very hot. There were lots of clouds and brief rain showers that kept the temps down in the western states... temps averaged around 85 degrees. Our hottest days were during the ride northeastern states like PA and MI where the temps were into the mid-90's and high humidity. 😉👍 --QM

    Great footage - what is the helmet cam setup?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 роки тому

      Howdy, Dave! Ooohhh... I was cussing at you in that steep gravel section that preceded this canyon ride! 🤣
      My helmet and microphone setup can be seen in this video: ua-cam.com/video/D_lbmLdenHU/v-deo.html . I use the GoPro Hero7 Black camera in a Ulanzi Vlogging case mounted on a MotoRadds helmet chin mount. The microphone is one from an old Cardo Scala G9 kit that was left over from an upgrade; that is plugged into the camera via the GoPro audio adapter. Here are links to the equipment used in my vlogging setup:
      GoPro Hero7 Black: amzn.to/33GRX3m
      GoPro Hero5+ audio adapter: amzn.to/36LpUBO
      Purple Panda microphone: amzn.to/34zLNkB (in place of the Cardo mic)
      MotoRadds GoPro helmet chin mount: amzn.to/3jCAz5f
      Ulanzi V2 GoPro vlogging case: amzn.to/3lq62Ih
      CLEAREX lens protector: amzn.to/2GJ2F06
      GoPro J-hook buckle mount: amzn.to/2IjuCMM
      I've had really good luck with the setup over the past couple of years. During the SCBR, the 3M VHB tape on the chin mount started to let go, so the camera was drooping a bit. I replaced it when I returned to Houston and it's working fine again. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

      @@QuasiMotard Funny, when I saw this popup on the UA-cam feed, I was wondering if it started in the gravel section!
      Is the footage stabilization from the Hero unit or done in post or a combination? It looks good!

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 роки тому +1

      @@bnski LOL! No, the full episode with all of the expletives will be forthcoming! I called you out a few times on that goat path. 🤣
      The video stabilization is built into the Hero7, and it works quite well. The Hero8/9 cameras do a little better, but the mounts and everything else are different, so I'm still rockin' the 7's. 😉👍 --QM

    Day-um. There are sections where it looks like you're doing 45 in 3rd gear. I just bought a SuperCub 4 days ago. I think the engine would be screaming at me under those conditions. Hopefully I just need to break the engine in.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 роки тому

      Congrats on your new Super Cub! We spent a LOT of time in 2nd and 3rd gear on this 9600+ mile trip. There were some sections through the mountains when we couldn't get out of 2nd gear for 15+ minutes straight, and then we would be stuck in 3rd indefinitely. I remember one section crossing the continental divide when we never got out of 3rd gear for over 45 minutes... just pinned the throttle open at about 85-90% and let the thing run. Luckily, we never queued up traffic behind us for more than a couple of minutes until there was room to pass. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
